Starting from the Planetary Governor - Chapter 508
Chapter 506: The Princess’ Rebellion
. The Princess’s Rebellion actually broke out later than Gu Hang had anticipated.
Earlier, he had even considered that he might not even have returned to the Dragon Eagle Star Region when the Iron Rage Stone erupted.
He believed the Alliance had a significant role to play in this regard.
Had it not been for that bloody battle that shattered the Fury Flame Legion’s backbone, rendering the “Rage” within the Iron Rage Stone essentially inoperable, the Princess’s Rebellion might have been launched much sooner.
While he deeply disliked fighting, the matter wasn’t up to him.
Having managed to stall the Iron Rage Stone for several months by brutally beating the Fury Flame Legion was actually quite impressive.
Reasonably speaking, the Iron Rage Stone’s immediate decision was predictable.
Everyone knew they were going to rebel, and they knew everyone else knew.
The atmosphere had reached such a level that a rebellion was inevitable.
However, no one could have anticipated the situation to escalate so dramatically.
The rebellion unleashed by Iron Rage Stone was as fierce as fire!
In February of the 230th year of the 10th millennium since the founding of the Empire, the Princess Rebellion erupted.
Iron Rage Stone issued a public declaration, clearly declaring himself the protector of the entire Princess Sector, and indeed, the entire Spider-Web Universe. All fourteen sectors, from the Princess Sector to the Spider-Web Universe, were to obey the Iron Armor’s orders and cooperate with its actions.
“This is for the good of the Imperium,”
they declared.
The Holy Terra Imperial Government immediately declared the Iron Armor, the Fury, and the Stone Shield Chapters traitors to the Empire.
The Spider-Web Universe Government followed suit, demanding that Imperial forces throughout the region defend their homelands. The already assembled Astra Militarum and the Imperial Navy began a tentative attack on the Princess Sector.
This suggested that the Empire was certainly prepared.
In reality, the entire political faction, led by Chancellor Ou Juren of the Ministry of Justice, had long been preparing to eliminate the Iron Rage Stone by force. However, in the early years, Holy Terra had not yet reached a consensus on this matter, and the existence of supporters like Norberto prevented full preparations from being fully implemented. Ou Juren and his team could only mobilize their own forces to carry out some defensive measures at best.
After Norberto’s defeat, when war between the Empire and the Iron Rage Stone became inevitable, the Empire finally reached a consensus and began military preparations against the Iron Rage Stone. However, the Empire’s bloated and inefficient political and military institutions were unable to act swiftly.
For nearly a year, much time had been wasted in meetings and discussions.
After finally deciding which divisions to deploy and getting their leaders to accept the order, they were often stalled by the need to mobilize supplies.
Holy Terra personally dispatched emissaries to contact several Chapters within the Spider Web, beyond the Iron Rage Stones, but many of those emissaries had yet to reach the Spider Web.
Several internal Inquisition bodies, particularly the Heretic and the Vigilant, had already issued inquiries to the Silver Ordos, demanding a severance from the Iron Rage Stones and a self-examination and internal cleansing.
The cleansing was attempted, but ineffective.
An elite unit of the Iron Armor Chapter intervened in the Silver Ordos’ internal purge, eliminating the faction that leaned towards the Empire. Along with it, a squadron of Battle Sisters sent by the Heretic, a battalion of Stormtroopers, and two Inquisitors from the Inquisition were completely annihilated.
The Inquisition and the Ordo Vigilante were furious about this. Although they had stepped up efforts to recruit new forces, they still had no idea how to deal with it at the moment.
This was the situation on the Imperial side for the past few months: preparations were truly made.
But what if they weren’t prepared enough?
Did the Empire itself know this?
They were, in fact, well aware of the situation.
They knew their current preparations were definitely insufficient, so they often hoped the Iron Wrath Stone would activate later; that the forces within the Spider Web Realm and even within the Imperial Realm could hold off the Iron Wrath Stone for a while longer.
But… the situation still collapsed.
And it was even more catastrophic than the pessimists had imagined.
One had assumed that within the Imperial Realm, at least some forces remained loyal to the Empire. Even if these forces were ultimately purged by the Iron Wrath Stone, they should at least be able to hold out for a while, right?
Eh? No.
They didn’t hold out at all.
That month, almost all of the Imperial Realm, a total of 472 worlds, switched sides and sided with the Iron Wrath Stone.
All Astra Militarum and Imperial Navy units came under the Iron Wrath Stone’s command.
Resistance?
Not entirely absent.
However, the Iron Rage Stones were incredibly well prepared. This was their home base, a place they had operated for so long that even the slightest resistance was within their expectations. They knew exactly where trouble would arise and had already deployed personnel. After issuing the announcement, they immediately annihilated any signs of trouble as soon as they emerged.
The entire Princess Star Region had simply changed its allegiance.
If this was barely acceptable to the Empire, the events that followed were beyond anyone’s expectations.
By the third month, within the Spider Web Universe, two more star regions surrounding the Princess Star Region had almost completely switched allegiance and joined the Iron Rage Stones.
It wasn’t as simple as the Princess Star Region, where brutal bloodshed had broken out. But the Iron Rage Stones acted swiftly and aggressively. Even in the face of high-intensity fighting, they would swiftly resolve it with overwhelming force and a resolute attitude.
A joint fleet from the Spider Web Realm, under the command of high-ranking officials, and carrying several Astra Militarum legions, hastily entered the Iron Rage Stone’s controlled area, attempting to contain the surge of power unleashed by the Stone.
However, this fleet vanished within eighteen days of entering.
It was surrounded by the Iron Rage Stone’s fleet, and a small-scale battle ensued. Then, without escort or weapons, Chapter Captain Paul boarded the fleet’s flagship in a small boat and spoke with the admiral-ranked commander.
The commander then surrendered with his fleet…
