Starting from the Planetary Governor - Chapter 1046
Chapter 1037: Finale (Part 1), Becoming a God
Gu Hang, the Avatar, sat quietly in a deserted hall.
This was Holy Terra—the grandest hall in the Imperial Palace. Ten thousand years ago, the Emperor met here with the Imperium’s God-Children, Commanders-in-Chief, Prime Ministers, and Lords, proclaiming the beginning of the founding crusade.
Then, the Emperor left the hall, and outside lay the palace’s largest plaza, the Plaza of Vision, connecting to the Eternal Avenue. There, the first Space Marine Legions, the Imperial Guards, and the finest mortal warriors, were reviewed by the Emperor, proudly and courageously ushering in the grand crusade of founding the nation.
Later, Gu Hang would also preside over a similar ceremony.
Now was the time to wait.
Logically, many ministers and servants should be accompanying Gu Hang, making all the necessary preparations.
This had indeed been the case before, except that Gu Hang had temporarily dismissed everyone a dozen minutes earlier.
The moment of avatar was more peaceful than expected.
Unlike the birth of Slaanesh, when the entire Eldar Empire, the dominant race of the universe, was sacrificed, unleashing a thousand-year-long turmoil in the Warp and causing a near-universal catastrophe, the Emperor’s ascension
was much quieter than Slaanesh’s.
Yet, records indicate that throughout the Imperium, a golden glow could be seen across the horizon. The shadowy image of the God-Emperor ascending moved trillions of people to tears and kneel in worship—of course, this could also be a myth fabricated by the state religion.
Regardless, at least on Holy Terra, there was undoubtedly some movement.
And now, with no external commotion, Gu Hang had achieved his apotheosis. He could clearly sense the thin barrier that had stood between him and humanity for so long, silently crumbling.
Thus, humanity gained a new deity to safeguard its path within the Warp.
Now, thirty years after the Crucible of All Things was consumed by the Realm of Storms,
Gu Hang had finally taken that step, entering the highest reaches of both the Warp and the physical universe.
And his ascension to godhood wasn’t truly silent.
But not now.
Thirty years ago, Basthor, the most promising lesser god in the Warp, fell. His divine realm, the Crucible of All Things, was shattered and devoured by Gu Hang. This marked the beginning of Gu Hang’s godhood. Sacrificing
the most powerful Chaos deity below the Four Gods was no small feat.
And if that weren’t enough, ten years prior, Gu Hang faced a challenge of even greater proportions.
By then, he had already mastered the power of the Creator.
The key Basthor had painstakingly crafted over centuries, the Rain Star, modeled after the ancient Knight Star, was also in Gu Hang’s possession.
Although he hadn’t created it himself, mastering the Creator’s power made mastering and controlling the key a breeze, accomplished in less than two years.
With the key in hand, he sought the so-called ancient weapon.
But in reality, it was a trap—a trap set by Tzeentch.
He had deceived Bassor. One part of the information regarding the ancient weapon was false.
A simple lie wouldn’t have tricked Bassor into risking his life for it. But as the god of lies, Tzeentch wouldn’t be so low-key as to deceive another deity, even to the point of death.
Tzeentch’s numerous and brilliant lies had gradually drawn Bassor into his devotion. Beyond all that, the most important thing was that the ancient weapon existed, was incredibly powerful, and could truly make Bassor a god.
This information was true.
Only true information could successfully deceive Bassor.
But the problem was that brilliant lies often interspersed truth with a deadly falsehood.
This ancient weapon came from an ancient cosmic race. When that race flourished, even the Warp wasn’t what it is today.
For this ancient weapon to work, the Warp must be restored to its original state.
But that was impossible.
Unless Bassor could destroy the Four Gods and the Emperor.
Even after becoming great beings, they couldn’t destroy the other five beings of the same level. After all, the eternal game between the Four Gods had lasted for eternity, their minds were pounded out, and their positions remained unchanged.
Even if they had achieved godhood, they couldn’t do it, let alone Bassall, who hadn’t yet achieved it. Even
if Bassall had successfully obtained the key and unlocked the ancient weapon, he wouldn’t have ultimately achieved godhood.
Unable to destroy the Four Gods and unable to transform the Warp, the ancient weapon would be nothing more than a powerful and exquisite waste.
And it wasn’t just Bassall who fell victim.
Bassall’s former collaborator, the Chaos Warmaster Archadon, was also a victim.
He, too, took the ancient weapon seriously.
After losing his collaborator, Archadon hatched a new plan: he planned to seize the opportunity the moment Gu Hang obtained it, preemptively seizing the weapon, rumored to have the power to change the entire universe.
Of course, this could also be a Tzeentch conspiracy.
In reality, the list of victims should also include Gu Hang.
However, relatively speaking, Gu Hang suffered the least from the deception,
for he emerged victorious in battle.
Tzeentch is skilled at plotting, but not at executing. This Lord of Change’s ideas are incredibly shifting, bizarre, and unpredictable, yet they are also prone to contradictions, leading to chaotic execution
. Despite all this maneuvering, Tzeentch likely never anticipated that Gu Hang would triumph decisively in his battle with Bassor, and a resounding victory.
True to the deception’s plan, he engaged in a bloody battle with Archaton, who had come to seize the ancient weapon. The human forces suffered heavy losses, and facing Archaton, chosen by the Four Gods and empowered by his divine power, even Leon and Martins nearly met their end.
But even that was no match for Gu Hang.
While he possessed immense power, it was crucial to remember that he was still human. Even before his Ascension, he possessed an absolute advantage: he could deploy his power into the real universe more easily than the Four Gods or the Emperor. He could even be present in person if necessary.
Gu Hang destroyed Archadon.
The losses were heavy, but so what?
Ten years earlier, the Indomitable Crusade and the Dark Side Crusade had already reclaimed over 75% of the Empire’s territory.
With a rule more powerful, efficient, and centralized than that of the Old Empire, humanity’s war potential had reached unprecedented levels of terror.
No matter how large or heavy the losses seemed, they were a drop in the bucket for the vast human empire, wounds that could be healed with time.
The Old Empire bled for ten thousand years without dying, let alone the new empire Gu Hang now controlled.
Whether it was the deception itself—the destruction of Bassol and the engulfment of the Omniscient Forge—or the destruction of Archadon and the acquisition of the ancient weapons—all these were Gu Hang’s victories.
Even if the ancient weapons proved useless, it didn’t matter.
After all, even without the deception, Chaos was Gu Hang’s enemy.
These two were already on the must-kill list.
The deception actually made it easier for Gu Hang to act.
Furthermore, the so-called ancient weapon was useless in Bassol’s hands, but would it be completely useless in Gu Hang’s hands?
That wasn’t necessarily the case.
Gu Hang and Bassol were different.
Bassol was merely a “Creator.”
Gu Hang, on the other hand, was a top-tier lesser god, humanity’s patron god,
now also a “Creator.” Gu Hang, already one step away from greatness, couldn’t take that leap after consuming the “Creator.”
In this case, quantitative change doesn’t seem to translate to qualitative change.
But regardless, Gu Hang had accumulated enough “quantity.”
Unlike Bassol, he wasn’t counting on the ancient weapon to elevate him to true godhood.
Gu Hang only needed that little bit of “quality.”
He didn’t care how powerful the so-called ancient weapon was. After acquiring it, he took this spherical object, a concept somewhere between physical and illusory, into the Kingdom of Storm God.
Of course, he couldn’t use this super weapon that was said to be able to destroy everything at will, nor did he have the ability to restore the environment of the subspace.
But it didn’t matter.
After ten years of analysis, he had almost torn this thing apart, turning it into real waste.
Just to extract that bit of “quality”.
And today, he succeeded.
What was blocking him was no longer a step away, but just a thin film of obstruction, which broke quietly.
He succeeded.
