Chapter 1015, Meeting (Part 2)

Sitting aboard the hovercraft provided by the Imperial government, Leon looked down at the Holy Terra Palace.

It felt both familiar and strange to Leon.

Familiar, of course, because the entire Terra Palace’s form, layout, and style remained largely unchanged from ten thousand years ago. He had been here many times before, and he recognized many of the features.

This brought a sense of profound emotion, yet also a certain puzzlement: Hadn’t they said it had been ten thousand years? How had the palace remained largely unchanged?

It was hard to say whether it was simply because the Emperor personally oversaw its construction, or whether humanity had truly made little progress in those ten thousand years…

probably a combination of both.

As for the strangeness, it came from the fact that among the few changes to the palace, some features stood out.

For example, the flags. Besides the Imperial double-headed eagle, there was also a blue shield-and-sword flag.

Was that the so-called Alliance flag?

Even flying in the palace?

And then there were the busy government officials; their number was even greater than in the days of the Empire.

And then there were the guards on duty. The most important and common force was undoubtedly the Emperor’s Guards, adorned with golden armor and red tassels. However, outside the gates of the government building, a few warriors in blue helmets and silver armor were standing guard.

At first, the Lion thought they were some specially approved Space Marine Chapter.

Although that wasn’t entirely plausible, even when the Golden Knights were a founding Chapter and had long been stationed on Holy Terra, they wouldn’t have been allowed by the Guards to guard the Imperial Palace. How could they possibly be a Chapter they hadn’t seen before?

The Lion still remembered the arrogance of these self-proclaimed “Emperor’s Guards.”

Could it be that their tempers had softened?

However, as he got closer and took in the specific appearance of the blue-helmeted, silver-armored warriors on guard, his previous assumptions were overturned and his shock deepened.

Aren’t these the Guards?

Just because they changed their livery, they thought I didn’t recognize them?

But the livery change was clearly a bigger problem, wasn’t it? How could they be so unconventional? Could they even change the laws of their ancestors?

All of this seemed so strange to him.

Yet, he suppressed all his words, burying them in his heart.

He had already been incredulous even before.

After accepting Gu Hang and Robert’s invitation to meet, he had assumed it would take a long time before he could meet his old brother and the current supreme leader of the Imperial government.

After all, he knew he was in a remote area in the southern border of the Empire. No matter what mode of navigation he used, reaching Holy Terra would take at least a year.

And that was assuming smooth sailing.

However, Dante argued that interstellar travel was not such an inconvenience.

He claimed that the New Empire now possessed more convenient and faster methods of interstellar travel.

While transporting large armies and the necessary supplies was costly, requiring the construction of a massive veiled spiritual portal and consuming enormous amounts of energy, even with such specialized means, they would not be used unless absolutely necessary.

However, transporting individuals, small units, or fleets was extremely fast and convenient.

Honestly, if Dante hadn’t appeared to be a legitimate Chapter Master of the Blood Angels, a Chapter with a glorious history, the Lion would have been completely unconvinced, dismissing the claim as a crude hoax, a trap.

Even so, he remained wary.

He brought with him some of his guards, a group of Space Marines, whom he claimed were the “Angels of Absolution,” part of the Angels of Death. He also brought with him some elite mortal soldiers, known as the “Lion Guard.” A

group of several thousand men crossed the Veil Gate built into the planet’s surface.

They arrived in Comoros.

Leon had a deep understanding of the Dark Eldar. Ten thousand years ago, the Human Empire also engaged in escapist activities with the Dark Eldar, a group of space pirates and predators.

At that time, the Dark Eldar were considered a relatively low priority enemy for the Empire, primarily because the damage they inflicted was relatively insignificant compared to other alien species. Compared to the Empire’s size, they were more like pests, like flies or mosquitoes—annoying, annoying, harmful, and potentially harmful, but not fatal.

Of course, if that were the case, it would certainly be done if a mosquito could be easily swatted.

But the key point was that their strength wasn’t truly mosquito-like. They were simply small in number and lacked a strong desire to expand in the real universe. In a real conflict, they could still be quite formidable if they concentrated a large force in a single area. Moreover, their detection was extremely difficult, making direct confrontation unrealistic.

In the few large-scale battles with the Dark Eldar, they only seized the opportunity to bully humanity with their superior numbers; rarely, however, were they able to seize the opportunity to siege them with superior forces.

This was due to their mysterious home base, Comoros.

When Leon was still active ten thousand years ago, he had devised numerous extermination plans for various enemies of humanity, including the Dark Eldar.

Sadly, even he could not find a way to annihilate this powerful remnant of their overlords .

But he had never imagined that Comoros would be conquered by the New Empire?

And it was more than just a conquest.

He had encountered a considerable number of Dark Eldar in Comoros,

clearly in a state of enslavement.

While Imperial policy dictated absolute extermination of xenos, a more flexible approach was possible for those with specialized technologies and uses.

At least Leon wasn’t as obsessed as some of the Empire’s conservatives.

While he used the Veil Spirit Portal for rapid spatial travel, he carefully evaluated the reliability of these technologies and instinctively considered their potential effectiveness in warfare.

The more he thought about it, the more he felt that the alliance’s move was reliable.

Although he still couldn’t figure out how Gu Hang had managed to capture Comoros, the result was already in front of him, which made him even more curious about the upcoming meeting between Gu Hang and Robert.

This meeting happened much faster than expected.

When he arrived at Holy Terra and took a hovercraft to enter the reception room in a palace that is now used as the Prime Minister’s Office, Robert and Gu Hang were already sitting there.

Gu Hang maintained his posture, with a smile on his face, and reservedly welcomed Leon to take a seat.

Leon’s eyes were fixed on Robert.

“You… haven’t changed at all.”

“You’ve aged a lot.” Robert responded.
