                                          Chapter 1001, The Third Reich
For the past decade or so, Robert had been incredibly busy.
He had barely any time to rest. The Empire was a mess, Holy Terra was a mess. He had to personally oversee and handle countless matters.
Even though a stable government structure had been established, the shambles of the former Imperial government were so shocking that he hesitated to trust them.
But in reality, he couldn’t help but admire the efficiency of the Alliance officials.
He had been very confident in the bureaucracy he had personally cultivated during his time governing the Infinite Star Region, believing it to be far superior to that of the Imperial bureaucracy of the time—even during the Empire’s heyday. However, the technical personnel of his Infinite Star Region remained among the best in the entire Empire.
However, he also recognized that this was due to the fact that he, the Son of God, had been personally in charge of the Infinite Star Region for a long time, personally overseeing the entire administrative system. His territory was barely the size of a star region.
With the abilities of a Son of God, a Space Marine Legion as a guarantee, and an entire Empire as the backdrop, Robert could indeed create an ideal state.
However, the difficulty was incomparable to establishing a well-functioning system for a vast empire governing tens or millions of worlds.
Managing the Infinite Star Domain well wasn’t a significant accomplishment; managing the Empire well was truly remarkable.
While the Alliance didn’t reach the scale of the entire Empire, it was vastly larger than the Infinite Star Domain.
More crucially, they weren’t developing their operations in a stable environment.
During the Dark Side Crusade, the Alliance’s strong administrative capacity was the single greatest factor supporting its smooth progress.
Even Robert found it difficult to understand how the Alliance, under the pressure of a harsh external environment, managed to maintain the energy to manage internal affairs and cultivate such a strong team.
The Alliance’s administrative team was particularly adept at post-war reconstruction, restoring order from chaos.
Robert had to admit that without the help of the Alliance’s administrative team, his achievements over the past fifteen years wouldn’t have been as significant as they were today
. He couldn’t have imagined that, with the war barely over and things not yet completely calm, he could have simultaneously established and run the government institutions of Holy Terra. However, today, contrary to his usual practice, he did nothing. He
sat quietly in his office, clearing his mind for the entire morning.
The founding ceremony of the new empire would be held in a few minutes.
But he didn’t think about it.
He had thought about this matter countless times over the past decade or so, and he had already made his decision.
He wouldn’t regret it—even if he did, it would be after future problems arose.
However, making up his mind was one thing, but when the reality finally arrived, could he not be apprehensive?
No.
He was apprehensive.
In fact, the closer he got to this moment, the heavier the apprehension grew.
After all, his decision directly determined the future of the empire.
The dual-head system… Now it’s said that there are two heads of state, and even his status as the regent is slightly higher than Gu Hang’s in the “Charter of Imperial Reorganization”, but what is the reality?
The real power and strength are not held by a piece of law.
It may be a bit of an exaggeration to say that Gu Hang wants to overthrow the dual-head system and become the real master of the entire empire without any effort, but at least it is easy.
He has some plans and back-ups for resistance, but the sad thing is that no matter how hard he tries, he clearly understands that his back-ups can only cause some trouble to Gu Hang and cannot change the final outcome.
And all he can do now is to believe in Gu Hang.
He does believe in Gu Hang.
However, when this moment is about to come, he is still accompanied by uneasiness.
Even so, over the past fifteen years, he had done much to confirm his decision.
He constantly observed every Alliance member working on Holy Terra under his watch, searching for evidence that Gu Hang might be an evil god or that these individuals were his followers. But he found nothing, not a single trace. Of course, there were corrupt, incompetent, and incompetent officials among the Alliance, but so were the bureaucrats he had transferred from the Infinite Sector. This was inevitable.
Overall, the Alliance officials performed well.
He also planted agents and gathered intelligence throughout the Empire and on the Alliance-led Dark Side Crusade.
The more he learned about the Dark Side Crusade, the more he came to recognize it as a grand and glorious undertaking, just like the Empire’s founding crusade. The slight shadows beneath it were inevitable noise, insignificant in the face of such a grand undertaking.
Gu Hang simply didn’t seem like a bad person.
And if Gu Hang had ambitions?
He never denied or concealed them.
He openly and honestly expressed to all the subjects of the Empire a single vision: I am the leader best able to lead the Empire, and humanity, back to glory!
Robert even traveled to the Golden Throne, this most secret and exalted of places, accompanied by his own guards, to attempt an audience with the Emperor.
Even that brief encounter, and the information he received, confirmed everything.
So what else could Robert say?
He could only tell himself over and over again that suspicion was good, but it must not ruin anything.
He had experienced the Great Crusade that founded the Imperium, and the seemingly ridiculous Second Empire that resulted from a flurry of missteps during the Empire’s crisis. Now, creating a Third Reich seemed like no big deal…
“Dong, dong, dong…”
The bells of the Terran Palace tolled for the third time, and Robert came to his senses, ending his trance.
He stepped out of his office and boarded the hovercar.
The ceremonial vehicle was remarkably luxurious. Passing over the cleaned and rebuilt sections of the Imperial Palace, the hovercar began to descend, skimming across the grand square.
This grand ceremony was unfolding before his eyes.
He stepped out of the car, onto the red carpet, and onto the podium.
Gu Hang had already arrived, waiting for him.
The middle-aged man with a gentle smile exuded a virile and refined demeanor, giving the impression of a gentle ruler.
This appearance was intentional on Gu Hang’s part. He was already an immortal being, so maintaining eternal youth was no problem. It was simply that allowing his age to advance into middle age was more fitting for a ruler than maintaining a youthful appearance.
But Robert knew full well what a terrifying being lay beneath this facade.
He was a master of disguise…
Robert took a deep breath, concealing any inappropriate expressions of gloom, worry, and fatigue. He put on his most flawless smile, both gentle and commanding—in this sense, he, like Gu Hang, was a true political being.
Composing himself, Robert saluted his colleagues on the podium and then took his place alongside Gu Hang.
After receiving the manuscript, he will be the first to speak as the Regent of the Empire.
Following him will be the new Prime Minister of the Empire, Gu Hang.
After the ceremony, the new Empire will be officially established, and the Third Reich will also be officially established.
