Release that Witch - Chapter 29
[Chapter 29]
The lord’s castle in Border Town wasn’t originally built on its current location.
When laying the foundation of the stone wall at the beginning, an underground karst cave was encountered, and the ground suddenly collapsed, so the location had to be moved.
Most of the waterways that have been dug were destroyed in the subsidence, and even if they were intact, they were abandoned due to relocation and reconstruction.
Brian used to drill around in these tunnels when he was young, and one day he accidentally found a route from an abandoned well to the well in the castle garden.
Brian told his father the news, only to be hung up and beaten severely.
His father warned him that trespassing on the lord’s castle was a capital offense, and if he was found, he would only be hanged.
Brian, who was frightened, naturally did not walk through this waterway again, but when everyone gathered to drink and chat, he boasted more than once that he could go straight to the castle.
Now he simply regrets it.
Except for Greyhound, there are nine people in the group.
That is to say, the entire patrol team was convinced by Vicious Scar—they could work for Duke Lane, the owner of the kingdom’s western region, and there were such generous rewards. It seemed that few people could withstand such a temptation.
The abandoned well was at the place where it first collapsed, and it is still a wasteland.
Brian was held up by the fierce scar with a sword, and went down the well in the middle of the team.
The waterway, which was quite spacious when I was a child, is now very narrow.
Due to the lack of traffic all year round and the diversion of water flow, vines grew in many places in the cave.
The guy who had stabbed the Greyhound walked first with a torch in his bow, and he held a hatchet with which to clear the way.
Brian pretended to remember the road, but he was thinking about how to get out.
Obviously, in such an inconvenient place, he has no possibility of escape.
Only when you arrive at the castle can you get a first-line chance.
What should we do then?
Shout twice to attract His Highness’s personal guards?
No, no… In that case, Scar can kill himself with just a raise of his hand, and he must distance himself first, otherwise he will end up like a Greyhound.
Thinking of Greyhound, Brian’s eyes dimmed a bit.
Before Border Town was established, he and himself lived here. The two had played together since they were young. It was Brian’s idea to join the patrol together.
Unexpectedly, like himself, he was elected as the patrol captain.
Brian had been happy for him for a long time, because the Greyhound had always been slighted because of his stuttering.
Now, he’s finally getting his chance to be recognized—or at least that’s what Brian thought at the time.
But when Greyhound fell down, Brian yelled at Fierce Scar, but Fierce Scar told him sarcastically why everyone recommended him and Greyhound to be the captain.
“Fool, the captain of the patrol is going to stay behind until the Moon of Demons, and light the beacon to call the police. If you are not allowed to do it, do you want me to take the risk?”
These words pierced into Brian’s heart like a sharp knife.
It turns out that those humility… those congratulations are all hypocritical illusions, and the real reason is so ugly.
He showed a mixture of shock and despair to cover up the raging anger in his heart.
It’s unforgivable, Brian gritted his teeth secretly, someone must pay for this!
After walking through the dry underground waterway for about half an hour, everyone finally heard the sound of water flowing.
This means they are not far from their destination.
Turning a corner, the front is suddenly much brighter, and it can accommodate two people standing side by side.
The person walking at the front of the line said, “There is no way ahead, it’s a shaft.”
“What’s going on?” Fierce Scar pressed his sword against him and asked.
“Tell him to look up,” Brian said in a deep voice, “we’ve arrived.”
This abandoned waterway just connected to the middle of the well in the backyard of the castle. It may be due to omissions during repairs that the connection was not sealed.
Fierce Scar stuck his head against the wall of the well and looked out. Three feet below his feet was the rushing water, while a small circle of night sky could be seen above his head.
He asked Brian to watch, took out the rope from his backpack, fastened the hook, and tossed it up lightly.
Only a click was heard, and the hook was firmly stuck on the edge of the wellhead.
Fierce Scar crawled out carefully along the rope.
Soon, he tugged the rope on it, signaling for everyone behind to follow.
It took a long time for the group of people to climb out of the well.
The castle, which could only be seen from a distance, now stands in front of them.
Fierce Scar grabbed Brian and shouted, “Hurry up and take us to the warehouse.”
Brian had only been here once, and even though the appearance of the castle was blurred in his memory, he still led the crowd calmly, broke open the lock of the wooden door closest to the well, and entered the castle.
At this time, most people in the castle had fallen asleep, and all the oil lamps hanging on the walls of the aisle had been extinguished. In the darkness, someone in the team lit a fire.
The faint light of the fire could only illuminate a few feet nearby, and Brian knew that the opportunity he had been waiting for had come.
When the team came to a fork leading to the basement, he aimed at the stairs extending down and rushed towards it.
Although the people guarding Brian had been paying attention to his movements, the jump was too fast, and there was no time to react, UU reading www.sonicmtl.
com The man let out a muffled grunt, and was knocked and rolled down together.
Falling down the stairs, the two of them instantly escaped from the scope of the fire refraction light and disappeared into the darkness.
“Damn it, damn it!” Fierce Scar immediately drew out his dagger and chased after him.
He had thought that Brian would use the darkness to play hide-and-seek with him, but he didn’t expect that the other party didn’t run away, but stood quietly at the bottom of the stairs, as if waiting for him.
Fierce Scar noticed that the accomplice who had been knocked down was already lying motionless on the ground.
And what Brian held in his hand was the man’s weapon.
“Idiot, do you think you have a chance of winning?” Fierce Scar maintained a vigilant posture, and then sternly said after everyone else got down, “We still have seven people, and you only have one.”
Brian didn’t answer, he no longer needed to suppress his anger.
Raising the sword and slashing diagonally, the strike was as fast as lightning and slashed fiercely on Scar’s sword edge, and sparks shot out.
Before the opponent could take the next round of posture, his straight thrust had already sent the tip of the sword into the shoulder of Fierce Scar!
Fierce Scar roared in pain, and fell back, another person stepped forward, blocking Brian’s pursuit.
This is an excellent place to attack, and the narrow aisle makes it impossible for the opponent to take advantage of the large number of people.
As long as he stood in the middle of the aisle and confronted the enemy head-on, there was nothing he could do about it—there was no room for two people wielding weapons side by side.
In terms of swordsmanship, Brian is confident that he will not lose to anyone in the patrol team.
When this group of scumbags were lazy, gambling, and intoxicated in bars, he was still honing his combat skills, regardless of wind, frost, rain, and snow, for several years without interruption-this was the reason why he did not choose to shout for help immediately.
He wanted to avenge Greyhound himself.
