Only at the Mahayana Stage Does the Reversal System Appear - Chapter 723
Chapter 721 Kyushu under the First Emperor’s Rule
. “Please, Emperor Shun, tell me in detail.”
“Emperor Jiang Ren’s power needs no further explanation. It is immeasurable and powerful, capable of breaking down the barriers between parallel worlds. What you lack is the means and the opportunity.”
Emperor Shun and Jiang Li left the River of Time together and returned to the underworld.
Yuan Zu, now a mere spirit, had been subdued by Hou Tu Huang and the Buddha. The Buddha was explaining to Yuan Zu what had transpired in the Celestial Realm.
Upon hearing this, Yuan Zu was initially furious that the Heavenly Dao had deceived them, then dejected, feeling that he had aided and abetted the evil, destroying the Endless World and committing a heinous crime.
“Judge me,” Yuan Zu admitted.
“There’s no need to rush to the underworld yet,” Emperor Shun’s frivolous voice echoed, stirring Yuan Zu’s subconscious anger.
Emperor Shun explained to Jiang Li, “Besides the Dream Path, there’s another way to reach parallel worlds.”
“The emergence of parallel worlds is essentially a matter of probability rules. The rules of space, time, and probability are a group and interconnected.”
“Using all three rules simultaneously will allow us to travel to parallel worlds, but none of us understand the probability rules, so we need a simpler method.”
“Although I’m proficient in the time rules, my realm isn’t up to par. Yuanzu can fill in the gaps. Needless to say, Buddha is proficient in the space rules and has a sufficient realm.”
“The three of us will work together to open half of the passage. We’ll use the power of Emperor Jiang Ren to fill in the missing probability rules.” Emperor Shun
briefly explained what needed to be done.
Buddha and Yuanzu agreed.
The Path of Space and the Path of Time intertwined into something resembling a singularity, followed by an explosion that shook the entire underworld. Only Hou Tu Huang intervened in time to stabilize the underworld.
After the explosion, a faint passageway appeared, visible but untouchable.
“Now!” Emperor Shun shouted.
Jiang Li gathered his strength, preparing to unleash a powerful attack, when Emperor Shun, as if remembering something, hurriedly shouted, “Don’t use your full strength, or you might pierce the parallel world!”
Jiang Li unleashed a depleting blow, forcibly stretching the faintly visible passage open.
This time, an even greater explosion occurred, knocking the three Primordial Wuji Immortals and Emperor Shun off their feet and sent flying in the shockwave. Even
the Buddha’s spatial manipulation, conjuring several small worlds to block the attack, proved futile, sending them flying and even crashing into him.
Fortunately, the force wasn’t enough to harm a Primordial Wuji Immortal.
Emperor Shun steadied himself and shouted to Jiang Li, “Parallel worlds have self-healing abilities; the passage will heal quickly.”
Jiang Li stepped into the passage, remembering he hadn’t yet informed the people of Jiuzhou about his trip. He called out, “Empress, please tell Jiuzhou I’m going there, so they don’t have to worry.”
Jiuzhou was back on track, and even without Jiang Li’s intervention, he could still explore and save the world.
Hou Tu Huang agreed. Jiang Li waved goodbye, his figure and the passageway vanishing simultaneously.
Emperor Shun, observing the situation, also returned to the river of time.
Hou Tu Huang, remembering Jiang Li’s request, handed the jade seal to the Buddha.
“Empress, what is this?”
“This is called the Jade Seal of Samsara. It represents the will of the Lord of the Underworld. With this seal, you can act on my behalf, and no one dares question it.”
“Jiang Li asked me to inform Jiuzhou. I wanted to send someone to Jiuzhou, but you are all ghosts. Even if I went there, no one could see you. Only I, who am well-versed in the laws of life and death, can communicate with them.”
Hou Tu Huang said sincerely, “While I am away in Jiuzhou, I ask the Buddha to help me watch over the Underworld.”
The Buddha was about to say something else, but Hou Tu Huang simply vanished, unreachable.
The Buddha pinched his brow in pain, believing that Hou Tu Huang would not be able to return for a while.
He looked at Yuan Zu and sighed, deciding to deal with him first.
…
“Is this a parallel world?” Jiang Li came to a place that was both familiar and unfamiliar. He looked at the monks coming and going and listened to them speaking a familiar language, as if he had not come to a parallel world, but Jiuzhou.
“Excuse me, I’m lost. Where is this place?” Jiang Li asked, holding a passerby.
The passerby looked at Jiang Li in surprise: “What a weirdo! In this world, you can get lost even with a map. This is Qingcheng in the Great Zhou Domain.”
“Qingcheng is Jiang Li’s hometown?”
The passerby quickly covered Jiang Li’s mouth and hissed: “Don’t you dare to say the name of the emperor?”
Jiang Li understood. This was Jiuzhou in a parallel world, and the place he was in was exactly the starting point of his journey, Qingcheng.
“What about the Jiang family now? Are they abusing their power and committing evil?”
the passerby asked in a low voice. “How is that possible? Over ten years ago, the Emperor returned home and discovered that his relatives were practicing demonic arts under his name. Furious, he slaughtered the Jiang family, including the officials and three clans who had protected them. Rivers of blood flowed, and the people were in a state of panic, fearing they would be implicated.”
“This directly shook the fate of the Great Zhou, and the former Emperor of Zhou fell into a coma.”
“Are you talking about the Emperor? Are you the First Emperor?” Jiang Li speculated that this was the First Emperor’s parallel world, and only he and the First Emperor’s system were delayed.
But he couldn’t say for sure; his own systems in other parallel worlds might also be delayed.
Seeing Jiang Li’s nervousness and unwilling to speak with him, the passerby hurriedly brushed him off and headed home.
Jiang Li had no choice but to go to a bookstore and buy a volume chronicling major events, which confirmed his suspicions. This was indeed the First Emperor’s parallel world.
Jiang Li didn’t know much about the First Emperor. He only remembered that, due to bad luck, he had killed the Taoist Dongxu, who had organized the lottery. Later, Commander Liu, Bai Hongtu, and the others engaged the First Emperor and were defeated.
Later, the two met in a dream and engaged in a fierce battle. Jiang Li defeated the First Emperor, but the dream was shattered after a few words were exchanged.
When they met, Jiang Li didn’t even know that the Outer Realm Demon was an immortal.
“Ji Zhi fell into a coma, and the First Emperor appointed Ji Kongkong, the nineteenth princess of the Great Zhou, to become the new Emperor of Zhou.”
“More than a decade ago, the First Emperor abandoned the title of Human Emperor and named himself the First Emperor. He then unified the Nine Provinces and established the Immortal Dynasty.”
Jiang Li could imagine that the process of unifying the Nine Provinces must have been anything but pleasant, though the records in the books were vague.
“Originally, the Nine Provinces consisted of nine great dynasties and hundreds of small nations. The First Emperor considered the dynasties and the surrounding small nations a single ‘domain,’ giving the Nine Provinces nine domains.”
“The Emperor Lord was also demoted to Domain Lord. The national fortunes held by the Emperor Lords and the State Lords were forcibly merged by the First Emperor to form the Immortal Dynasty’s national fortune, which was distributed to each Domain Lord to facilitate stable rule.”
“It seems the First Emperor doesn’t care about the power brought by national fortune. After all, even if the national fortunes of the Nine Provinces were combined, how much power would it increase?”
“The establishment of the Immortal Dynasty represented the First Emperor’s becoming the true Lord of the Nine Provinces.”
“The former Emperor Lords and the heads of various sects all became subjects of the First Emperor, including the six great sects.”
