Chapter 60: Seeking Help

“Mr. Jiang Li… How did you do that?”

Ming Zhong asked nervously. He was genuinely frightened. At first, when Tian Yin and Jiang Li suddenly appeared in their world, he’d thought they were aliens with advanced space technology.

Who would have thought they could simply use their physical bodies to break free from the gravitational constraints that had plagued them for millennia with a single leap!

At least, to his eyes, he couldn’t detect any signs of technology.

“No big deal, I can do it too.” Seeing Jiang Li being looked at with admiration, he felt a little annoyed and wanted to show off his ability to break free from gravity.

Then he realized he had no legs and could only fly, not jump.

“Drink more hot water, and you can become as strong as me,” Jiang Li laughed.

“Really?” Ming Zhong didn’t realize Jiang Li was joking. He was still thinking about going back and issuing an order for everyone to drink hot water.

“That’s fake.” Seeing that they were taking his words seriously, Jiang Li felt embarrassed to continue joking. “This is the result of cultivation.”

“Cultivation?” In Ming Zhong’s mind, cultivation was a very ancient term, referring to a group of people standing under a waterfall or dipping their hands into scorching sand.

These men looked strong, but a single shot could bring them down.

With mecha cannons struggling to counter ferocious beasts, these men had long since been consigned to the dustbin of history. They could only be seen in the optical computer library.

Jiang Li spread his hands, gathering the surrounding spiritual energy into his palms, forming a ball of cyan light. To make it clear to Ming Zhong, he even absorbed spiritual energy from all seven orifices.

“Absorbing spiritual energy and using it for personal gain—that’s cultivation,” Jiang Li explained briefly, omitting details like comprehending the Way of Heaven and perfecting one’s mindset, which Ming Zhong might not understand.

“Ferocious beast energy!” Ming Zhong exclaimed, “So humans really can absorb ferocious beast energy!”

“It’s called spiritual energy,” Yin Yang Tian Yin corrected.

How unpleasant.

Ming Zhong knew that ferocious beasts could become stronger through some unknown energy source, which scientists called ferocious beast energy.

Scientists believed this energy could strengthen ferocious beasts, and perhaps humans as well. However, after extensive experiments, they still couldn’t find a way to absorb it. Instead, they discovered that it could be a high-quality energy source for mechas.

“What about your spiritual roots? Haven’t you found them?” After listening to Ming Zhong’s story, the Yin-Yang Heavenly Seal couldn’t help but ask. Even though it was an immortal artifact, it knew that demon beasts cultivated through bloodlines, while humans cultivated through spiritual roots.

“What are spiritual roots?”

“Spiritual roots can’t be found through experimentation.” Jiang Li shook his head slightly, stepped forward, and placed a hand on Ming Zhong’s head to guide him in his search. He explained, “One must comprehend the mysteries of heaven and earth with a mortal body, look inward, and only when the inner and outer worlds merge, will the key to cultivation—the spiritual roots—be found within the human body.”

Jiang Li was referring to the original method used by Jiuzhou to find spiritual roots. Of course, such trouble was unnecessary now; a single piece of spiritual root jade could reveal the quality of a twelve-year-old’s spiritual roots.

“Is this the spiritual root?” Ming Zhong’s eyes widened, his body undergoing unprecedented changes. He felt a surge of power coursing through his limbs, as if every cell had been waiting for an eternity, frantically absorbing this energy.

“Dual spiritual roots? Good aptitude,” Jiang Li offered a mild compliment.

Ming Zhong’s body lightened, and he entered the first level of Qi training, officially becoming a cultivator. He felt at least twice as strong as before.

This was simply too terrifying. He had only just absorbed some spiritual energy, and such a drastic change had occurred within him. However, Ming Zhong still couldn’t imagine that someone could simply break free from gravity by absorbing spiritual energy.

Ferocious beasts also rely on spiritual energy to evolve; who could fly off the continent?

This Mr. Jiang Li must be stronger than all the ferocious beasts!

“Mr. Jiang Li, how many people in your area can break free from gravity?”

Jiang Li thought for a moment. He counted himself as one, and Immortal Changcun and Fairy Hongchen as two. Tribulation cultivators didn’t need to foolishly use their physical bodies; they could also use other means to break free from gravity.

“Seven or eight.”

Ming Zhong was shocked. He had thought Jiang Li was the only one.

Jiang Li then briefly described the world of Jiuzhou to Ming Zhong. Ming Zhong was stunned and speechless for a long moment, unable to process such a huge amount of information.

His lips trembled. “So you’re not from outer space, but from another world… Jiuzhou… the Immortal Realm… cultivators… immortal artifacts…”

Only after understanding the cultivation system did he truly appreciate Jiang Li’s power and the chasm between their world and Jiuzhou. The

ferocious beasts that forced humans to abandon emotions and focus solely on technological advancement, in Jiuzhou, could be dealt with by any one of the nine dynasties and six major sects.

The gap was too great.

“On behalf of all humanity, I beg Mr. Jiang Li and Mr. Tianyin to help us deal with the ferocious beasts!” Ming Zhong bowed to Jiang Li and Yin Yang Tianyin.

“Why ask him for help? Leave it to me!” Yin Yang Tianyin was full of confidence. It sympathized with the humans of this world.

If it had to choose between humans and demonic beasts, it would undoubtedly choose to be close to humans.

“It’s only natural and reasonable to go to the ferocious beasts’ side,” Jiang Li said. After Ming Zhong’s explanation of this world, Jiang Li realized that the human race couldn’t possibly hold any threat to Dao Zu, and that Dao Zu was most likely trapped with the ferocious beasts.

“Then I’ll take you two there?” Ming Zhong was overjoyed. He knew the man before him was the pinnacle of Jiuzhou, a Mahayana cultivator. With him in hand, the ferocious beasts were mere chickens and clay dogs, posing no threat.

Ming Zhong pointed to a hovercar parked on the side of the road.

“Too slow.”

Jiang Li and Yin Yang Tian Yin believed that this world’s transportation was too slow, so they enveloped Ming Zhong in spiritual energy and whisked him toward the ferocious beasts.

Ming Zhong thought his hovercar was fast enough, at 2,000 kilometers per hour, and could reach the front lines in less than two days.

As he flew, he realized how slow it was compared to the others.

The closer they flew, the more they felt the imminent threat humanity faced from the ferocious beasts. The military was constantly training, the rumble of artillery fire never ceasing, either conducting drills or testing new weapons.

The city’s style gradually shifted from soft to hard, becoming more like a military fortress, constructed from materials more sturdy than concrete. When they arrived at the frontline city, the buildings and the ground were integrated. Jiang Li suspected that if he just picked up a building, the entire city would be lifted up.

Every action of the humans in this world, every part of the construction, is to resist the beasts.

After passing the frontline city, you can see three high walls, made of the strongest materials made by humans mixed with the bones of beasts. There are also mechas, artillery shells and other supplies, which are continuously transported from the underground arsenal.

There are no civilians engaged in production work here, only soldiers who are always ready for war or fighting.

Soldiers control remote-controlled mechas behind the high walls to fight the beasts, and there are also various artillery shells and drones that are automatically launched after careful calculation to provide support.
