Chapter 330 Caterpillar Evolution

If Bai Xueling were alone, she wouldn’t have easily spoken of cultivating a True Dragon.

What was a True Dragon? It was a true, authentic Fusion-stage demon, on the same level as Bai Xueling, and even superior in terms of bloodline.

She wouldn’t boast that she could definitely cultivate a Fusion-stage True Dragon.

But Jiang Li was completely different here.

Wouldn’t it be easy for a Mahayana cultivator to cultivate a Fusion-stage True Dragon?

Bai Xueling confidently declared that she and Jiang Li could cultivate a True Dragon together.

“I’ll awaken this little insect’s intelligence first,” Bai Xueling generously fed the green worm a few drops of its blood.

Bai Ze’s blood is a tonic for any demonic beast, and a green worm with True Dragon bloodline is no exception.

Nourished by Bai Ze’s blood, the green worm’s strength soared, breaking through to two stars.

“Two stars already?” Xia Chao was astonished. He had barely reached the Qi Condensation stage, and his contracted beast had already reached two stars. The gap between them widened further, and defeating the green worm seemed a distant prospect.

The caterpillar spun a cocoon, wrapping itself tightly.

“I’ll give you some, too,” Bai Xueling said generously, dripping a few drops onto the white tiger cub.

The bone-winged white tiger also ascended to two stars, awakening its spiritual intelligence. It prostrated itself on the ground, speaking human language, and knelt to thank Bai Xueling.

“Let’s see what the five- and six-star demon beasts and contracted beasts in this world are like,” Jiang Li proposed, earning approval from Bai Xueling and Elder Tang Xing.

…

Watching the three disappear, Xia Chao and Qiu Shi felt nervous, not relaxed.

Although Jiang Li and the other two didn’t say it explicitly, they could sense that something was seriously wrong with their world.

“Give me a glass of water.” Professor Feng had already woken up, but the aura of Jiang Li and the others was so overwhelming that he had no chance or authority to interrupt.

He had, however, understood the general outline of what Jiang Li and the other two said, and could decipher the rest.

“Professor, here,” Xia Chao quickly handed Professor Feng a glass of warm water.

Professor Feng calmed down, finally regaining consciousness. After the parrot received the White Snow Spirit’s blessing and learned to speak human language, he would never lose his mind again.

“Those three people… no, we can no longer call them human. Those three beings are beyond imagination, perhaps supreme beings comparable to six-star contracted beasts.”

“Such beings have never been recorded in history. Perhaps they come from another world.”

Xia Chao’s expression was complicated. “Actually, Brother Jiang told me something.”

Xia Chao recounted Jiang Li’s description of the Kyushu world to Qiushi and Professor Feng word for word.

Their expressions of shock were no less than Xia Chao’s when Jiang Li had traveled through the universe.

Although Professor Feng had repeatedly overestimated Jiang Li and others, he still hadn’t expected these three to have such a background.

“Kyushu world, immortal cultivators… I never thought such a world existed. I’m just a frog in a well,” Professor Feng scoffed.

The Lingxi world only had two six-star contracted beasts and two six-star demon beasts, and that was the limit of power Professor Feng had understood.

Professor Feng hadn’t expected that the Jiuzhou world alone had hundreds of Fusion-stage cultivators, equivalent to six-star contracted beasts, not to mention those above them, those at the Tribulation Crossing, Immortal, and Mahayana stages…

Any major sect from Jiuzhou, not even one of the six major sects, could easily overwhelm their world.

“Such a powerful being has only good intentions for our world. It’s truly a blessing for Lingxi World,” Professor Feng rejoiced, then solemnly instructed Xia Chao and Qiu Shi.

“You are the key to saving our Lingxi world. Whether or not we can completely overcome the assimilation disease in the future depends on you.”

Xia Chao and Qiu Shi were about to nod when they realized it wasn’t Professor Feng who said that.

They looked up and saw it was Professor Feng’s parrot.

“Hey, Xiao Feng, I know exactly what you’re thinking,” the parrot laughed.

“What Xiao Feng? I’m your beastmaster!” Professor Feng, even though he was older, had suffered from the assimilation disease, so no one would call him Xiao Feng.

“What beastmaster? You’re just a shit-shoveler,” the parrot sneered, spreading its wings to show off its feathers. It spoke in a tone full of chivalry, “Follow me from now on, and I guarantee you’ll have everything you need.”

Crack—

the cocoon cracked open with a sound like an eggshell, and a small green snake emerged, its tongue flickering. It looked like jade, a truly beautiful sight.

…

In an underground military base somewhere, three-star, four-star, and five-star contracted beasts were everywhere. A variety of modern weaponry was arrayed, and many more were hidden in the shadows.

“This is where the six-star contracted beasts rest.” Jiang Li and the other two arrived, easily passing through the various checkpoints without being noticed.

Finally, the three found the six-star contracted beast, a golden bear with a V-shaped wound on its chest.

“It’s in deep sleep. Judging by its structure, it’s also irrational,” Bai Xueling said with disappointment. She’d expected this from the sight of the five-star demon beasts outside.

Normally, demon beasts reaching the Spiritual Transformation Stage, or five-star, would awaken their spiritual intelligence. This was the rule. Unexpectedly, the extraterritorial demons had manipulated the beasts so thoroughly that even this rule was ineffective.

From the lowest-ranking contracted beasts to the highest-ranking six-star beasts in the Lingxi world, all were fools.

“Wake them up and see if they’re not fools,” Jiang Li suggested, giving Xiongba a gentle kick.

Xiongba, awakened by the kick, flew into a rage, ready to tear the three scoundrels who had disturbed his sleep to pieces.

“Can you understand what I’m saying?”

“If you can speak, just say something.”

“Roar—”

“We’re good people.”

“Roar—”

Jiang Li attempted a friendly exchange, only to be met with Xiongba’s furious attack.

“What a fool indeed,” Jiang Li shook his head regretfully, then kindly knocked Xiongba unconscious.

“Excuse me, go back to sleep.”

Xiongba’s eyes lit up, and he collapsed to the ground with a thud.

The guards outside noticed the commotion inside and immediately mobilized all their forces to surround the bears’ resting area.

Bears are known for their aggressive nature and dislike cameras, making it impossible to see what was happening inside.

The guards carefully opened the custom-made gate, finding nothing but a sleeping bear inside.

However, the bear was sprawled on the ground, with footprints on its face, indicating it hadn’t fallen asleep of its own accord.

The three men found another six-star contracted beast, a gentle, grass-loving water buffalo at a breeding base in the capital.

They arrived at the Monster Forest, where, deep within the forest, the two six-star beasts could only roar incoherently, devoid of even the most basic sense.

Jiang Li didn’t even need to fight; Bai Xueling, ready to test her skills, easily won a one-on-two victory.

How could a fight based on brute force possibly outsmart one based on intelligence? Furthermore, Bai Ze, with his natural knowledge of most things, already knew the weaknesses of the two beasts, making victory inevitable.

“As expected, all demon beasts are fools, even those in the Fusion Stage.”

Afterwards, seeing that there was nothing else for Elder Tang Xing to do, he returned to the Nine Provinces World to continue studying the Way of Contracts. Jiang Li and Bai Xueling stayed behind.
