Chapter 29: Difficult to deal with

After reviewing the information provided by the Tianji Tower, Jiang Li gained a comprehensive understanding of the Mysterious Secret Realm.

Although he initially only wanted to know where it was, he

was initially curious about its location. The person who opened up the Mysterious Secret Realm was called Dameng Jushi, a cultivator in the Fusion Stage who died of exhaustion while undergoing a heavenly tribulation eight hundred years ago. Perhaps sensing his insurmountable fate, he left behind the Mysterious Secret Realm before his passage, leaving behind something for future generations, promising those young people in the Foundation Establishment stage some opportunities and a chance to establish good karma.

The Mysterious Secret Realm opens every ten years, and the challenges it presents vary. Sometimes it tests comprehension, sometimes combat prowess, and sometimes resistance to money and lust. Even the Tianji Tower couldn’t find a pattern. What is certain is that the Mysterious Secret Realm consists of two levels, with rewards varying based on performance.

For example, the challenges in the Mysterious Secret Realm five hundred years ago were based on combat prowess. Each person had a token and could snatch tokens from others. Whoever collected the most tokens took first place.

The Mysterious Secret Realm is located on the southern frontier of the Great Zhou Dynasty. Every time it opens, it attracts the attention of several nearby sects. It’s hard to say whether any of these sects possess members of the Spiritual Transformation Stage, so how could they reject the secret realm offered by a powerful being nearing the Tribulation Crossing Stage?

…

Jiang Li transformed himself and arrived near the Mysterious Secret Realm.

Many sects had already brought their core disciples there, awaiting its opening.

Although Jiang Li’s cultivation level was above the Foundation Establishment Stage, not meeting the criteria for entry, his cultivation surpassed that of the Great Dream Monk.

The opening of the Mysterious Secret Realm was a minor event for the southern part of the Great Zhou Dynasty, with every reputable sect from several prefectures participating to showcase their outstanding disciples.

Jiang Li looked around but couldn’t name a single sect. The reality was similar to what the system had predicted: most of the attendees were in the late Foundation Establishment Stage, with only a few in the middle Stage. Naturally, the late Foundation Establishment sects would criticize the middle Stage sects.

Jiang Li didn’t make a fuss, disguising himself as a late-stage Foundation Establishment cultivator, making him inconspicuous among the others.

He could have simply stated his identity: No more pretense, I’m the Human Emperor. Give me some respect and let me enter the secret realm and take first place.

Jiang Li certainly didn’t value faith, but he still had his dignity.

A Mahayana cultivator, entering a Fusion-stage secret realm and competing for opportunities with a bunch of Foundation Establishment-stage

novice cultivators—his friends would have laughed their heads off if they knew about it. “Hey, brother, didn’t your master send anyone?” a familiar figure approached Jiang Li. “What a coincidence! My master didn’t send anyone either.”

Most people have elders to protect the younger generation from being bullied, but there are always exceptions, like the person next to Jiang Li.

He said his name was Qin Luan, and he was the senior brother and last disciple of Dingfeng Temple. His master was now traveling, not returning for over a decade, and as a disciple, he was content with his free time, enjoying his own cultivation.

“I can’t help it. I’m the oldest in my sect, and no one came with me.”

Jiang Li’s words were true. His sect was the Human Emperor Palace, and as its master, he was naturally the oldest.

But to Qin Luan, Jiang Li’s words were tantamount to saying that all the elders in their sect had died, leaving him alone.

He had thought his Dingfeng Temple, with only two people, was already the most destitute sect, but he hadn’t expected there were even worse off.

He felt a surge of pity. “Brother Kong Li, don’t worry. Since we share this plight, I’ll protect you once you reach the Mysterious Realm!” Qin Luan said, patting his chest.

Jiang Li hadn’t used the alias “Zhang Li,” but had instead adopted a new surname, “Kong Li.” The mention of

Zhang Li now reminded him of the Dao Sect’s master’s shrewd, triumphant demeanor, and he gritted his teeth in anger.

“I hope there aren’t any wicked people this time,” Qin Luan, a chatterbox, said, seeing that Jiang Li was quiet.

“Brother Kong, do you know? Last time, there was a guy who deliberately suppressed himself, only breaking through to the Golden Core stage after entering the secret realm and taking first place. He’s such a wicked person. If I were to meet him, I’d definitely kick him in the saddle while he’s breaking through, so he can’t cheat.”

Jiang Li suspected he might be looking for an audience, not a companion.

Suddenly, darkness fell over the two men’s heads. An enormous eagle landed nearby, its eyes sharp, as if brimming with sword energy.

“An eagle with a hint of Golden Eagle bloodline—whose family is this?” Qin Luan shouted, doing his best to explain.

Two men dismounted from the eagle’s back, each carrying a longsword and dressed in spotlessly clean white robes. They stared straight ahead, completely oblivious to the shouting crowd.

“They’re from the Wangqing Sect. The people of this sect are emotionless and trust no one, believing only in the sword in their hands.” Qin Luan immediately revealed their identities. “They’re Daozi Qisha and his elders.”

A solemn look crossed Qin Luan’s brow. “He’s a tough guy. I’ve fought him before, and I only won eight out of ten.”

Jiang Li was slightly surprised. “He’s actually called Qisha. What’s his connection to the Seven Killings Monument in the immortal world?”

He should have heard of such a person before, so why hadn’t he heard of him before?

“No, he’s called Qisha. I just think it sounds cool.”

“…”

“Huh? Where did the petals come from?” Qin Luan looked up and saw two women in pink gauze dresses fluttering down, and the pink petals disappeared with them. The younger woman was lively and cute, very likeable, while the older one had a cold demeanor, making her admirers afraid to approach.

“They’re from the Luoying Colorful Sect!” Someone called out Qin Luan’s origins.

“It’s Song Ying and her master.” Qin Luan’s brows once again grimaced. “She’s a tough opponent. I’ve fought her before, and I only won six out of ten.”

Song Ying glanced around as she landed. Seeing the solemn Qin Luan, she leaped up to greet him.

“Hehe, Qin Luan, we meet again. I won’t lose to you this time.”

She raised her delicate little fist,

but Qin Luan ignored her and instead warned Jiang Li.

Qin Luan’s expression grew even more serious. “Be careful of Song Ying! She thinks she can’t beat me, so she’s trying to seduce me with her beauty. She’s very scheming!”

Jiang Li thought, “Even a blind man like me can see she’s interested in you. Didn’t you see how her master wants to draw his sword and chop you down, you idiot? “

“Is it possible that she really likes you?” Jiang Li couldn’t help but ask.

“No way,” Qin Luan said firmly. “I asked her once if she liked me, and she said who would like a fool like you!”

Jiang Li nodded slightly. It seemed that Song Ying really didn’t like Qin Luan.

“You have to be careful with these two people. They will be your biggest competitors.”

This time Jiang Li didn’t nod. In his opinion, the biggest competitor this time was someone else.

He set his sights on an inconspicuous disciple.

A body in the late stage of foundation building, but within it was a soul that had transformed into a spirit.

Possession.
