Chapter 262: Murderous Intentions at Every Step

Yu Feng wasn’t surprised by the familiar conversation, but instead shook his head, trying to sort out his memories.

As he did so, he expertly rolled out of bed and hid in the cellar.

“Father and Mother are dead again,” Yu Feng said expressionlessly, then pondered his next plan based on his memory.

“How many times has this happened?”

A calm voice echoed, but it struck Yu Feng like a bolt from the blue, causing him to jump back in shock.

“Who?” Yu Feng’s expression changed with a rare change, his voice trembling, his fear evident.

Of course he was afraid. He’d hidden in the cellar thousands of times, and it had never made a sound. How could a nonexistent sound suddenly appear out of nowhere?!

“It’s me,” a figure stepped out, looking at Yu Feng with pity.

“As much as I want to say that, you don’t know who I am.”

“My name is Jiang Li, and I’m from another world.”

“Another world?” Yu Feng repeated subconsciously, becoming increasingly wary of Jiang Li.

“Are you the one who keeps me constantly reborn?” Yu Feng spoke with hatred, as if wanting to kill Jiang Li. God knows how many times he’d experienced death over and over again; that feeling was unbearable.

He might as well have died.

Can you imagine watching your parents die before your eyes thousands of times?

With each sight, Yu Feng’s heart ached, until he was completely numb.

His father died. Oh, I see. Time to hide in the cellar.

His mother died. Oh, I see. Time to hide in the cellar.

“It’s not me, but I think I know why you keep reborn.” Jiang Li looked at Yu Feng and shook his head gently. Poor child.

“You have a fragment of the Ladder to Immortality within you, containing the principle of time. Every death brings you rebirth.”

Yu Feng was wary of Jiang Li. Jiang Li’s words only made him think Jiang Li was the mastermind behind his torture.

Seeing Yu Feng like this, Jiang Li felt even more pity for him. This child must have experienced at least thousands of rebirths.

Yu Feng would be hiding here for five days, so Jiang Li could explain things to him slowly.

“Are you saying that our world is called Tonggu World, a subordinate world of the Immortal Realm, once connected to it by a ladder to immortality. But for some unknown reason, the ladder broke, and a fragment attached itself to me?”

“It’s a large fragment,” Jiang Li emphasized. The fragment in Luo Ying’s body could no longer be used after a single rebirth, while Yu Feng’s fragment was clearly more durable.

Yu Feng only began to believe Jiang Li’s words.

Their world was a world of immortal cultivation, and there were also stories of immortals and immortal realms, but due to the vast passage of time, they had become mere legends.

But he only half believed it.

Either the man before him was telling the truth, or he was the mastermind behind his rebirth.

Yu Feng, unusually agitated, paced back and forth, accidentally kicking an iron basin, attracting the attention of bandits.

The bandits followed the sound to the cellar and killed Yu Feng.

Waking in the sunlight, Yu Feng was stunned by Jiang Li’s face. It was the first time he had seen someone reborn like him.

Unbeknownst to Yu Feng, Jiang Li hadn’t been reborn. Instead, he had witnessed time in this world rapidly reverse, returning to its origin.

The commotion outside made Yu Feng realize that now wasn’t the time to worry about who Jiang Li was. The most important thing was to hide quickly. Yu

Feng retreated back into the cellar.

“Aren’t you going to save your parents?” Jiang Li asked.

Yu Feng half-smiled, “Save my parents?”

“Yes, I have memories of cultivating immortality and practicing martial arts. I’m stronger than most people. I can kill the few bandits outside and save my parents.” “

But then what? There won’t be just a few bandits entering the village, but hundreds.”

“Even if I take my parents to hide in the cellar, the bandits will see that someone has died here and search every inch. By the time they find the cellar, none of them will be alive.”

“Do you know I’ve died hundreds of times to save my parents?”

“I’ve proven hundreds of times that I can’t save them.”

Yu Feng’s tone was flat, as if he were recounting a trivial matter.

He rambled on about his death experiences. Jiang Li wasn’t a good listener, so he just listened silently, saying nothing.

Yu Feng seemed to have found an outlet, sharing his long history of death and rebirth.

Tens of thousands of deaths, tens of thousands of rebirths, and only he knew what had happened. How tragic.

Jiang Li’s identity didn’t matter; he just wanted an audience.

“Hidden from the bandits isn’t that easy. I tried hiding in haystacks, in cauldrons, on beams, under beds, but all failed. Only hiding in the cellar can help me survive.”

“And don’t make too much noise like you did just now, or you’ll get killed too.”

“You can’t hide for just one day. The bandits haven’t left yet. They’re gathering in the village ancestral hall, drinking, eating, and having s*x. There are patrols from time to time. Going out means death. I can only wait five days, until they’ve had enough, eaten, and played enough, then I can go out.”

“Why don’t you cultivate?” Jiang Li asked. He knew Yu Feng would definitely cultivate. The system showed the mission completed because he had reached the Nascent Soul stage, then died for unknown reasons, and everything started all over again.

“I can’t cultivate now. Cultivating creates fluctuations in spiritual energy, which the bandits can sense. I’ve died several times because of that.”

Jiang Li said nothing more. Just like that, five days passed in a flash.

Five days later, Yu Feng climbed out of the cellar again. As if completing a mission, he kowtowed to his parents, saying, “I can’t bury you!” and then hurried away.

Seeing Jiang Li was about to ask more, Yu Feng explained, “There was no time to bury them. A bandit returned with lost property. If he saw your parents’ bodies missing, he would immediately search the area, even the cellar.”

“I’m asking, why didn’t you wait until the bandit found their belongings before burying them?”

“No, we must leave here quickly. Do you know who’s behind the bandits? They’re a group of cultivators practicing the Blood River Method. After the bandits kill someone, they notify these cultivators, and they come to the village to cleanse everyone’s blood.”

“If I leave a little later, I’ll be discovered by these cultivators.”

It’s easy to imagine how many times Yu Feng must have died to have this experience.

He died trying to bury his parents.

He died waiting to bury them after the bandits left. He died

before he could leave, being discovered by the demonic cultivators.

A conservative estimate is seven or eight deaths.

“After leaving the village, we must hurry to the town, or we’ll be attacked by demonic beasts,” Yu Feng said, walking and running towards the town.

“And you can only go to the town. Going west will lead to encountering bandits.”

“Going south will lead to mudslides.”

“The demonic beasts are coming from the north, so we can’t go north either.”

Yu Feng arrived at the town again, dusty and grimy, but he didn’t relax at all.

He knew that the town also harboured dangers, and a single misstep would mean starting all over again.

Jiang Li felt that the number of fatal tribulations Yu Feng had encountered along the way was a bit outrageous. Heaven must have seen how much he disliked him, so it was forcing so much trouble on him. If he could survive to the peak of the Fusion Stage, he would definitely reach the Tribulation Stage.
