Chapter 246 Stepping into the River of Time

The Great Zhou royal family follows a strict process for learning the Way of Time. First, they learn the theory, then attempt to see the past, then the future. Once proficient in seeing the past and future, they are taught the mantra and taught how to enter the River of Time.

Entering the River of Time requires the company of an elder. For a novice cultivator, entering the River of Time alone is extremely dangerous; the slightest mistake can lead to destruction.

The mantra is the key to the River of Time. No one in history has ever been able to enter the River of Time without mastering it.

Ji Kongkong was the first. Not

even Ji Zhi, with his double pupils, could achieve this!

Not only was Ji Huayu caught off guard, but even Jiang Li, the person involved, was shocked.

He felt time slow down, then slow down, until it finally stopped completely. Only Jiang Li and Ji Kongkong remained able to move.

A crack appeared before them, and Ji Kongkong, transformed into a white fish, slipped through, followed by Jiang Li.

A long river flowed, from ancient times to the present, and into the future. A chaotic mist hung over the river, and the roar of waves echoed, crashing against the shore with a resounding roar. The sky was gray, as if it had always been this way and would never change.

“Is this… the River of Time?” Jiang Li was surprised. He had only heard Ji Zhi boast about this scene, never actually being there.

Ji Zhi said that when he reached the Tribulation Crossing Stage, he would bring Jiang Li to the River of Time. Jiang Li always joked that relying on you was worse than relying on your daughter.

Now he was indeed relying on her, but the timing was too early.

Ji Kongkong hadn’t even reached the Foundation Establishment Stage, yet she could bring him to the River of Time. This was absurd.

Jiang Li, standing on the riverbank, saw Ji Kongkong about to leap into the water and, frightened, quickly grabbed her.

“Don’t you want to die? This is the River of Time. With your body, you’ll be gone!” Jiang Li sternly warned Ji Kongkong. If anything happened to Ji Kongkong, Ji Zhi would be on his back.

“Oh.” Ji Kongkong obediently fell into Jiang Li’s arms.

Both of them were newcomers, entering the River of Time for the first time. Unexperienced, they couldn’t act rashly.

“Who’s interrupting our i*imate moment?” a rude voice rang out from the river.

Strangely, even with the roar of the water all around, the voice could still be heard clearly.

Jiang Li spotted two white fish in the river. One was frightened away by Jiang Li’s arrival, while the other, unfamiliar yet familiar, leaped out and glared at the newcomer on the shore.

“Let me see who’s interrupting my moment! We’re almost kissing, you know… Damn, it’s Jiang Renhuang!”

The enraged white fish, upon seeing Jiang Li, nearly lost their souls.

“You can find me even in the River of Time?! And you deliberately scared my girlfriend away and broke us up! What a vicious heart!”

“???” Jiang Li was filled with questions.

“Are you Gu Jin Jian?” Jiang Li remembered the box left by Emperor Shun and realized that the white fish with the unfriendly tone before him was Emperor Shun, also known as Gu Jin Jian.

I just don’t know how it transformed from a fishbone sword into a fish.

Emperor Shun left him a box and told him not to look for him. Was it because he had interrupted his happy occasion?

Breaking up a couple made Jiang Li feel strangely guilty.

As Jiang Li pondered this, he reached out to grab Gu Jin Jian. Not to take him back, after all, if he did, who would return to the past to become Emperor Shun?

He wanted to ask Gu Jin Jian something.

But Gu Jin Jian, assuming Jiang Li was trying to catch him, hurried downstream, toward the future. His girlfriend, frightened by Jiang Li, swam towards the future.

But after swimming a distance, he looked up and saw another Jiang Li standing on the shore.

Two Jiang Lis in the River of Time!

“How come you’re in the future too!” Gu Jin Jian turned and swam back upstream, toward the past.

With Jiang Li downstream, he dared not go that way, never to see his girlfriend again.

“If Jiang Li hadn’t appeared, what’s happening now wouldn’t have happened!” Gu Jin Jian angrily exclaimed.

Jiang Li was stunned by Gu Jin Jian’s outburst.

The future also has me?

So, in the future, I’ll also be in the River of Time?

Jiang Li looked toward the future, but the world of the River of Time was shrouded in a chaotic mist, obscuring the past and future.

“How do I dispel the fog?” Jiang Li asked.

“Only beings who are proficient in the ways of time can dispel it and see the past and the future.”

“Uncle Jiang isn’t proficient in the ways of time, so I’m afraid it won’t be possible to dispel the fog.”

“Our ancestors once said that there’s no fog in the River of Time. This chaotic mist is a barrier to perception for outsiders, and beings like us, born within the River of Time, can’t see it,”

Ji Kongkong explained. She was not only more proficient in the ways of time than Jiang Li, but also possessed greater knowledge of the subject.

“I see.”

“Then how far can you see?”

“Nine hours into the past and three minutes into the future.”

The River of Time is unique. It doesn’t use meters, miles, or kilometers; it uses time as its unit of measurement.

Every drop of water in the river represents something that happened at a specific moment in time in a specific area.

Jiang Li squatted down, observing the water droplets curiously. He saw the scene of the “present”: Ji Zhi was arguing with several ministers, Bai Hongtu was playing cards with the “Three Pure Ones” technique, Commander Mu was in love with Gu Clan leader Ayisu, and Zhang Konghu was fast asleep…

“Is it only about Jiuzhou?”

“Because this is Jiuzhou’s Long River of Time.” Ji Kongkong pointed his fish tail at a hazy wall behind Jiang Li. “Pass through this wall, and you can reach the Long River of Time in other worlds.”

“But I don’t know how to pass through it. Father didn’t teach me.”

Jiang Li walked over and tried to push it. He felt that he could push it through.

As soon as he pushed, Ji Kongkong stopped him: “Uncle Jiang, don’t do that. Father said that we know very little about the Long River of Time. We can’t act rashly. The slightest careless move here will cause the disorder of time and space, and the disorder of yin and yang!”

Jiang Li quickly gave up the idea of walking to another long river of time.

Jiang Li took Ji Kongkong to nine hours ago, squatted down, and saw the scene of “nine hours ago”: Ji Zhi visited the Tianyuan Dynasty, Bai Hongtu turned beans into soldiers and played Cuju, Commander Mu pulled out the magic monks from the big and small witch countries, and Zhang Konghu was snoring…

“I always feel that some scenes have not changed.”

“Can I see the distance of eighteen hours ago here?”

Ji Kongkong shook his head: “Even if I move, I can only see the distance from ‘nine hours ago’ to now, from now to ‘three minutes in the future’. If I change my position, I can see a more distant past. Wouldn’t my father be able to see things one thousand or ten thousand years ago?”

Jiang Li was about to nod in agreement, but he had a doubt: “That’s not right. You know the way of time and can see things nine hours ago. I don’t know anything. How can I see things nine hours ago?”

Ji Kongkong was also stunned and whispered He muttered, “That’s right, Father said that the farther you can see, the farther you can walk. If you walk beyond your ability, you won’t be able to take a single step. Uncle Jiang, you are not proficient in the way of time, so you should only stay where you are and cannot go to the past or the future.”

Ji Kongkong said, jumping to an earlier time in the past, but was blocked by an invisible force and bounced back into Jiang Li’s palm: “Just like this.”

Jiang Li left Ji Kongkong where he was and walked towards the past. He found that there was indeed an invisible force blocking it, but this force was too weak, about the same as air resistance. If Ji Kongkong hadn’t reminded him, he would not have noticed it at all.

He walked into the past and saw what happened ten hours ago and eleven hours ago.
