Chapter 134 The Biggest Hunt in Human History

“Buying all the brain cores—I’m afraid…”

In the office, Commander Wang smiled apologetically. “Of course, I don’t doubt Mr. Luo Ying’s financial resources, but you three know that brain cores are strategic resources. Selling them all to you might be objectionable to the enhancers in Fulin District.”

Commander Wang had heard from Brother Shu about these three’s feats, which defied scientific explanation. He had to be careful, lest he say something wrong and cause them displeasure.

“Half.”

“Half is too much, unless you three tell me what these brain cores are used for,” Commander Wang probed. “Are you going to establish a safe zone? If so, Fulin District can provide other assistance.”

Luo Ying shook his head.

“You also know about Qi Yu City. The zombie tide is over. We just saved your district,” Jiang Li said, observing Brother Shu’s actions with his spiritual sense.

Commander Wang was surprised, wondering how Jiang Li knew what he knew.

Jiang Li continued, “And to defeat the zombies, we must use a large number of Brain Cores.”

Commander Wang was silent for a moment before speaking again. “I said you are humanity’s heroes, and I’m not lying. I believe you. Fulin District has six thousand first-tier Brain Cores, and I’ll sell you two-thirds.”

Commander Wang felt a sense of relief after saying this.

“In a month, you’ll see the results of today’s decision,” Jiang Li said with a smile.

Four thousand Brain Cores will save a lot of trouble.

Long after Luo Ying and Luo Zhu left, Commander Wang slapped his forehead and said regretfully, “I forgot to ask about this Jiang Li’s background, and whether our Wang family’s ancestors could manifest.”

…

For the past month, Luo Ying and Luo Zhu had been constantly trying to trip up the zombies. Whenever a third-tier zombie emerged to trigger a zombie tide and overrun the safe zone, it would encounter a wave of killing attacks before reaching the safe zone, wiping out all the first- and second-tier zombies, leaving only the lone third-tier zombies to be beaten.

Luo Ying had once warned the safe zones to be wary of the zombie tidal wave, but when the time arrived, not a single zombie was sighted. They thought Luo Ying was just exaggerating.

However, after witnessing the shocking spectacle of a million headless zombies, no one in the safe zones dared to question Luo Ying’s alarmist words.

The siblings also visited various safe zones to purchase brain cores, but not all leaders shared Commander Wang’s trust. Some would only sell a thousand cores, while others even asked if they could sell them.

In the end, the accumulated cores from the zombie tidal wave outweighed the purchases.

…

The calm sea remained motionless, like a stagnant pool, yet everyone knew the most terrifying zombies lurked in the ocean.

The team stationed by the seaside gazed at the water and chatted, “What level do you think the whale zombies are?”

Unlike in the later stages of the apocalypse, the safe zones now openly took the threat of the ocean seriously, dispatching teams to report on the situation at all times.

Some thought this was a silly question: “Didn’t Master Luo Ying say it was a fourth-level? What’s there to talk about?”

“I think you’re over-praising Luo Ying. He was just lucky and brave enough to be the first to absorb the brain core. If I’d been a little braver and absorbed the core as well, I’d be the boss.”

“That’s fair. Don’t trust Luo Ying completely. He was only a first-level Enhancer at the time, and he didn’t have any detectors. How could he have determined the whale was a fourth-level? Does he have better eyesight than a machine?”

“Now we’re all first-level Enhancers. Who among you can tell the whale’s level with the n*ked eye?”

“He’s just lucky. What can he do? He has a cute, beautiful sister to please the eyes.”

“Look, there’s movement on the sea!”

Upon hearing this, the team members’ hearts leapt into their throats. No one cared to discuss the problem anymore, and they all looked out to the ocean.

As if sensing something, the sea suddenly surged with raging waves, howling winds, and a vortex formed.

Zombies, the most feared creatures in the human heart, soared into the air from the vortex, emitting a mournful wail that sounded like the toll of human doom.

“Yonggu District, this is the Ocean Observation Team. Whale zombies have been spotted. I repeat, whale zombies have been spotted!” the captain grabbed the communicator and shouted.

“Yonggu District, got the numbers.”

“Detectors show they’re Level 4 zombies! Level 4… They’ve spotted us… One thousand meters away… Five hundred…”

“Ocean Observation Team, got it, please reply! Ocean Observation Team, got it, please reply!”

Only half an arm remained on the other end of the communicator, tightly gripping the microphone, unable to answer.

Dozens of whales flapped their wings and danced in the air, as if celebrating humanity’s impending extinction.

Their incessant calls could be heard for hundreds of miles, sending a shudder through the hearts of those in the safe zones.

“They’re… coming…”

Compared to the beginning of the apocalypse, the whales had grown stronger, but they hadn’t yet broken through to Level 5, which was barely good news.

However, all the safe zones disagreed. What about Level 4? What about Level 5? Could they possibly stop Level 4?

The whales seemed to share the same view, believing nothing on land could threaten them.

Yonggu District, closest to the coast, was the area where the whales flew towards.

The Yonggu District, braced for death, watched the approaching whales intently.

The whales danced freely, passing through an open space when, without warning, massive ice spikes appeared, descending from the sky and piercing their fleshy wings.

This was a divine punishment, nailing the sinners to the earth, leaving them to suffer, dry up, and die of exhaustion.

However, the ice spikes were not powerful enough to permanently pin the whales to the ground. The whales gathered their strength, struggling to break free.

The Yonggu District troops promised that the scene they witnessed would remain etched in their memories until their death.

A magnificent ancient formation appeared in the heavens and on the earth, its structural beauty evident to all who witnessed it, a testament to the precipitate of history and wisdom.

While the principles and patterns of the formation were unknown, everyone sensed its weighty power, a force far greater than the mere brute force of the whales!

The heavens and earth shifted with the formation’s presence. Rain clouds gathered, and darkness darkened.

The formation, composed of 150,000 bright points, stood out, like the sole ray of light in the darkness, brighter than the stars and more inspiring.

The materials used in this killing formation exceeded even Jiang Li’s expectations. In just one month, they had collected 150,000 first-level brain cores, 800 second-level brain cores, and six third-level brain cores.

If these cores were used in other ways, they would surely be unable to defeat the fourth-level zombies. But organized in this formation, each brain core unleashed a power beyond its own inherent spiritual power!

“Activate the formation,” Jiang Li said expressionlessly. The whale’s every move was a secret, oblivious to the planet-wide divine consciousness.

From the beginning of a month’s planning, the whale’s fate had been predetermined.

The two formations, above and below, trapped the whale, as if they had been premeditated, ready to strike, waiting only for the whale to be trapped.

The whale thought humans were prey, but to those with ulterior motives, they were the ultimate prey.

This would be the greatest hunt in human history!

Now that the prey is in place, the two large formations begin to slowly rotate.

The Grinding Wheel Formation!
