Chapter 1776 Divine Taste

The mountains and seas shattered, then returned to the stars. This was fate, a foregone conclusion.

Even the combined efforts of the saints could only temporarily reverse the situation.

But the Chengshenke sought only to delay the destruction.

Besides giving the Eternal Void World sufficient time to nurture the true and false Dao Marks, they also had to find a fundamental solution to counteract the ultimate fate of returning to the gods.

Though the lifespan of the mountains and seas was long, it seemed insufficient.

From the beginning of the mountains and seas to the end of time, a total of 160 billion years had passed.

The fragments of the mountains and seas shattered by the Dao Yian attack numbered in the millions.

Reconstructing a section of the mountains and seas in the Avengers was a massive undertaking requiring the concerted efforts of numerous saints.

Yet, what had seemed so far-fetched progressed unexpectedly quickly.

Countless clones of Zhang Fan, imbued with their true spirits and magical powers, resolved the saints’ supply issues within the void realm.

Chengshenke and the Primordial Saints took overall control.

Thus, piece by piece, the shattered mountains and seas of 100 billion years were slowly repaired.

Even the saints who had participated throughout the entire process still found it incredible when they looked back.

“I used to scoff at the idea of reuniting the Mountain and the Sea. Now it seems so easy!”

“The saints united, putting aside all their quarrels. This was a near-impossible feat. I’m curious what those God-Changing Guests are planning together.” “

Never mind. Don’t even think about it. It’s just adding to my worries. I’ve been so tired for so long. Once the reunion is complete, I need to rest up.”

“Almost, almost.”

Under the gaze of the crowd, the last rift in the Mountain and the Sea was repaired. As the saints finally felt relieved, a faint sense of confusion suddenly emerged in their hearts.

For so long, they had been aiming to reunite the Mountain and the Sea. It had become almost habit and instinct.

Now that the project was finally complete, the saints felt lost for a moment, somewhat bewildered. The

God-Changing Guests had fulfilled their promise.

The life-slaying swords overhead gradually faded, the threat no longer present.

But the God-Changing Guests, too, seemed to have evaporated from the Mountain and the Sea, disappearing no longer.

Some of the saints, growing disillusioned, sought seclusion in the quiet of the mountains and seas. Some, yearning for the power of the Divine Masters, yearned for it, returning to the Primordial Immortal Realm.

Some, in the process of reunion, grew accustomed to spending time with the creatures of the mountains and seas. They transformed into mortals, hidden among the living.

The Eternal World was no longer a vast void.

Instead, a majestic sacred temple stood at its center.

Boundless and seemingly a world unto itself,

the myriad great Daos stood majestically in the boundless expanse.

The Divine Masters surveyed the Dao Temple, nodding frequently.

“The paths of the Saints of the Mountains and Seas are all incorporated into it.”

“The mountains and seas, now intact, should last for a billion years. After a billion years, the Dao will rise again, and the mountains and seas will shatter and return,” Pozhenzi said slowly, as if he could see the dark waves beyond the mountains and seas, temporarily driven back.

Zhang Fan continued, “When the time comes, I’ll use the transformation of truth and falsehood to wipe out all the saints. Then, using this avenue hall, I’ll rebuild a new group of mountain and sea saints. This way, we can embark on another round of

mountain and sea reunion.” Xuanyuan Hong sighed softly, “After all, I promised them. If we force them back again, a fight is inevitable. While that’s a convenient thing to do, I’m afraid they won’t be as dedicated as they were the first time reuniting the mountain and sea.”

“It’s better to just rebuild directly from true and false.”

All the gods agreed, clearly sharing this sentiment.

After countless years of understanding truth and falsehood, their mindsets had subtly shifted.

They might have noticed it at times, but after mastering truth and falsehood, it was indeed difficult for them to view other people and things as equals. Furthermore,

the vast majority of their energy was focused on coping with their final fate, returning to the gods.

They paid little attention to other details.

“Two-thirds of the True and False Dao Marks have been nurtured.”

“But the further we go, the slower they evolve. It might take three times as long to fully form.”

“No problem, just three more reincarnations. We’ve mastered the origins of the Saints. With the True and False Daos at hand, we can create a new batch of Saints at any time to reunite. The only thing we need to worry about is the mountain and sea itself.”

An endless image of the mountain and sea suddenly appeared before the God-Climbers.

Reuniting the mountain and sea, the footprints of the Saints permeate every inch of it.

The Saints are their eyes.

As the true creators of the present mountain and sea, nearly every inch of it is under the control of the God-Climbers present.

“The return of the mountain and sea to the gods is destiny. An irresistible fate.”

“Though we have used our might to reverse it, each rebirth and destruction will only intensify.”

“Even more so each time.”

“Until… the Dao appears, and the mountain and sea disappear in an instant.”

“No longer giving us the chance to slowly reconnect.”

“So, time truly is running out for us.”

As Cheng Shenke watched, the image of the mountain and sea shifted numerous times.

Then, a lone star rose high above the mountain and sea.

“Fellow Daoist Fan, how are your preparations?”

“I’ve long understood the existing avenues of the mountain and sea. I can replace the mountain and sea at any moment and ascend to the throne of the new god. The star transformed by the mountain and sea behind the scenes is no match for me. My only concern remains the god,” Zhang Fan said calmly.

“Therefore, we must wait for the true and false Dao marks to appear.”

Cheng Shenke nodded slightly upon hearing this.

Over the years, as Zhang Fan’s strength grew, he gradually distanced himself from his “one heart and one mind.”

Even though Zhang Fan intended to share with the other guests who had become gods, as he got closer and closer to becoming a god, he would often inadvertently disappear in the midst of their unity.

Therefore, there was something unfinished in Zhang Fan’s words.

Theoretically, the higher the strength and the more sufficient the accumulation and preparation, the greater the confidence in killing the gods.

But the actual situation was just the opposite.

Zhang Fan didn’t know how many times he had deduced what would happen to him after destroying the stars.

But the results were all “nothing”.

No victory, no defeat.

It was as if after completing the star destruction, he had disappeared into thin air.

Such a strange result made Zhang Fan very confused.

Now, he could be said to be the closest existence to the gods in the entire mountains and seas.

Therefore, he understood more and more clearly how powerful the gods were.

“It’s not enough.”

Zhang Fan felt a momentary sense of powerlessness, though he quickly suppressed it.

Over the years, he had begun to understand why his original master had sought a way out of the impasse by dispersing his clones.

He had exhausted all his resources

, yet to no avail. “But I’m different from him.”

Zhang Fan extinguished all distracting thoughts.

“What he can’t accomplish, I might as well!”

“God-killing…”

Zhang Fan’s gaze swept across the imaginary mountain and sea, and it was as if he were witnessing the real mountain and sea. He made a silent decision.

…

Just as the Chengshenke had predicted.

After a billion years of stability, Daoyan struck again.

The mountain and sea were shattered, and the saints were indescribably shocked.

Seeing this familiar scene, memories of the past flooded back like a tide.

“Are they trying to capture us and bring us back to reunite the mountain and sea again?”

“Damn it! This time, we’ll definitely rather die than surrender!”

“Hmph! The Chengshenke may be powerful, but we’re not without a fight. If they continue to press us, then…”

While the saints were still wavering, Zhang Fan’s thoughts enveloped the entire mountain and sea.

“True or false.”

He spoke calmly, without any lingering feeling.

A moment later, the existence of the saints was wiped out.

Not a single ripple arose.

“Fellow Daoist Fan, your understanding of the great Dao of truth and falsehood has deepened,” the Slayer praised.

The mountain and sea suddenly lost their saints, like a cargo ship without its cargo. Crashed by the waves of Daoyan, they instantly became unstable.

The next moment, it seemed as if they would be submerged by the wind and clouds.

“False is also true!”

Zhang Fan’s cold voice echoed across the mountain and sea once again.

And so…

figures, one after another, appeared across the mountain and sea,

including the Primordial Immortal Realm.

Just as before.

These created saints seemed oblivious to everything,

still immersed in the memories and actions of the past.

“Let’s go, let’s catch them again,”

the Slayer sighed.

The angler, without the initial excitement of the first time, simply followed silently.

Soon, the mountain and sea reunion project began again.

However, aside from Zhang Fan and the God-Changing Guest, the other saints were unaware that this was their second attempt at hardship.

“Mountains and seas, the Great Dao, truth and falsehood…”

Zhang Fan, having accomplished a feat, felt no effort.

He simply comprehended the inexplicable feeling welling up within him.

A saint, the pinnacle of all creatures in the mountains and seas.

Yet he could destroy and reshape with a single thought.

How could anything else?

“Is this… a god?”

A strange glint flashed in Zhang Fan’s eyes.

From then on, Zhang Fan grew increasingly silent,

seemingly immersed in his contemplation, only occasionally updating the God-Creators on his progress.

The mountains and seas soon underwent a second reincarnation.

A successful reunion brought a period of peace, only to be shattered once more.

This time, the mountains and seas remained intact for five billion years.

“True is false!”

“False is true!”

The God-Creators resumed their task.

A new reincarnation began.

But this time, their hearts gradually grew numb.

No emotion arose, only mechanical repetition.

…

And so, the mountains and seas cycled through time and again.

And Dao Yan’s counterattacks grew more intense with each attack.

The ultimate limit of the Dao’s annihilation, the mountains and seas submerged, deduced by the God-Chengs, is approaching.

In the world of eternal nothingness,

“It’s only the last ray of light, so why can’t the [True and False] be born?”

The God-Chengs’ faces lost their usual composure.

The Dao Mark of True and False had been on the verge of being

born long ago. But for some reason, it seemed to be stuck, no longer moving.

Even after three cycles of mountains and seas, there was no progress.

This filled the God-Chengs with doubt.

Could their plan truly succeed?

“Fellow Daoist Fan, how should we decide?” asked the Life-Slaying Master.

His tone and demeanor were filled with caution.

Zhang Fan wasn’t here, but the Life-Slaying Master knew that even the mere mention of his name would lead to his knowledge.

Over the years, Zhang Fan’s aura had grown increasingly ethereal,

like the elusive Dao of True and False, both real and unmanifest.

Unity of mind and purpose had become a mere figment of the imagination.

Zhang Fan’s shadow remained, but they could no longer sense any thoughts from it.

A moment later, Zhang Fan’s voice echoed in everyone’s hearts.

“We’ve done everything we can. The traces of truth and falsehood have yet to emerge…”

“This world, though said to be eternal nothingness, exists independently. In reality, it still maintains a tenuous connection with the mountains and seas, originating from the existence of the false universe. If we truly wish to give birth to truth and falsehood, we must sever all ties with the outside world and exile them beyond the mountains and seas.”

“Perhaps there is a glimmer of hope.”

The God-Creators understood Zhang Fan’s meaning.

After a moment’s silence, as if relieved, they said, “We’ll do our best and leave the rest to fate. We’ve done enough.”

“Good,” Zhang Fan replied with a single word.

The next moment, within the Eternal World, the bodies of the God-Creators instantly transformed into countless points of light.

Like embers, they drifted into the air,

converging towards a single point.

Then, the entire mountains and seas did the same.

It was as if an invisible fire had descended, silently consuming everything within.

Without pain, without feeling.

In the silence, the mountains and seas vanished, all living things vanished, and the saints vanished.

All the ashes and points of light converged into one place.

It was Zhang Fan.

He now fully understood his original intention.

Preserving the mountains and seas while facing the True God was pure nonsense.

“Only by returning everything to the true God can there be…”

“A slight chance of victory.”

A flicker of hesitation crossed Zhang Fan’s mind.

To be honest, until now, he hadn’t seen any chance of defeating the True God.

But the arrow was on the string, and it had to be fired.

The mountains and seas were completely swallowed by Zhang Fan.

The Void Realm, having gained nothing, was instantly enraged.

Completely failing the mission entrusted to it by the Star, an endless wave of Dao Annihilation rolled towards Zhang Fan.

But for some reason, after a moment, the Dao Annihilation itself descended into chaos.

It seemed as if the Void Realm itself was actually looking forward to this scene.

Zhang Fan naturally understood the reason.

“Sun Piaomiao…”

“I’ll help you free yourself.”

“After all, you were once a part of the mountains and seas, and cannot be lost.”

The Void Realm’s nothingness was nothing compared to the Reality and Falsehood.

Wherever the thought reached, it was wiped out.

Or rather, returning to the mortal realm.

Mountains and seas, the imaginary realms, vanished, the stage they had erected shattered.

The place behind the scenes emerged.

In a moment, boundless starlight showered the world.

In this familiar scene, Zhang Fan felt a boundless rage rising from above.

Under the starlight, the great paths of truth and falsehood trembled.

But Zhang Fan simply snorted, “How dare you, a coward who hides his head and shows his tail, challenge me for glory?”

Faced with the shower of starlight, Zhang Fan neither dodged nor avoided it.

His body expanded infinitely, absorbing all the starlight.

Within the starlight, he sensed countless chaotic and frantic thoughts

and incalculable shattered images.

These images held no real meaning, merely representing the mountains and seas, or perhaps this world’s past in the endless cycle of reincarnation.

Yet, each one carried the weight of the mountains and seas.

The moment they touched, a collision seemed to occur.

Zhang Fan sat alone, gazing upward.

It seemed as if the stars of the entire universe were falling towards him.

If it were Zhang Fan, who had just suffered a backlash against his own self, he would certainly not be able to withstand such a terrifying attack.

But after experiencing countless cycles of mountains and seas, swallowing everything, he could now endure it all calmly.

“As I said, the so-called [stars] are no match for me.”

“The only one I have to worry about is the gods.”

The stars in the sky gradually dimmed.

Zhang Fan silently waited for the final moment to arrive.
