Chapter 1771: Outside the Body

“As for me…” Zhang Fan remained silent. He

hadn’t lost himself in Zhen Shiyin’s flattery.

But in a sense, his stance was essentially the same as Zhen Shiyin’s, or indeed, that of all the creatures of the mountains and seas.

The mountains and seas would be sunk, reincarnation would cease, and

everything would belong to one man. The actions of the master of the true and false avenues, in pursuit of enlightenment, were truly appalling.

Whether for their own survival or driven by moral conscience, the cultivators of the mountains and seas should unite to stop him.

Of course, that presupposes…

that what Zhen Shiyin said was true.

At Zhang Fan’s current level, even if he didn’t know the truth, he could intuitively judge the truth of a conversation from the moment he heard it.

“Zhen Shiyin wasn’t lying.”

“But that doesn’t mean what he said is the whole story.”

Zhang Fan had his own judgment.

It was simple: if everything was as Zhen Shiyin said, then Fishing Man, Xuanyuan Hong, and the others should absolutely stand up and unite with Zhen Shiyin.

But they didn’t. Instead, they simply created a sheltered world and hid away quietly.

Zhang Fan’s decision remained unchanged from beginning to end.

He wanted to stand before the person behind the scenes and get to the bottom of it!

However, in front of Zhen Shiyin, Zhang Fan did not reveal his true feelings.

Instead, he shook his head and said, “I’m just a clone, one of countless scattered chess pieces. The Lord of the True and False Dao is as terrifying as you said. What role can I play?”

“Let’s take a step back. Even if we join forces and succeed in killing him, aren’t you worried that I will become the new Lord of True and False, causing all our efforts to be in vain?”

“What we have sought is already the limit of our current abilities. How could we try to seek an infinite future and cause ourselves trouble? Besides… I don’t think fellow Daoist would do that.”

“Of all the Sons of Destiny, you are the only one willing to give up the True and False Dao. If you hadn’t seen that, we wouldn’t have this conversation.” Zhen Shiyin looked at Zhang Fan with a burning gaze.

Zhang Fan sneered, “Then I’m afraid I’ll disappoint you, fellow Daoist. I gave up because I couldn’t ask for it. Honestly, if the Great Dao of True and Falsehood truly appeared before me, allowing me to seize it, I would definitely choose Him again without hesitation…”

Before Zhang Fan could finish his words, Zhen Shiyin interrupted, “But you’ve already given up.”

“Even a good horse doesn’t return to the pasture it has returned to, let alone the Great Dao of True and Falsehood. Since you’ve given up the possibility of possessing the Great Dao of True and Falsehood, even if the

Great Dao of True and Falsehood were to be without a master, you would certainly not choose the one who had voluntarily given it up…” “At least, in this life,” Zhen Shiyin said confidently.

Zhang Fan opened his mouth, speechless for a moment.

Finally, he said, “I’m afraid this is just your speculation, fellow Daoist?”

In reality, Zhang Fan already had a clear idea.

Zhen Shiyin chose to cooperate with him because of his dual role as the master of the Great Dao of True and Falsehood and his lack of the possibility of inheriting the True Dao.

As for what their chances of success were?

They had no other choice. Since that was the case, Zhang Fan   dropped the ball.

“Since you’ve already said that, any further concessions would be a slap in the face, fellow Daoist.” “Give me this tree. From now on, we will form an alliance and work together to reclaim the Great Dao of True and False.”   With these words, all the saints of the mountains and seas, obsessed with enlightenment,   turned their gazes on Zhang Fan. Beneath their calm gazes, a hint of malice lurked.   Zhang Fan remained calm, awaiting Zhen Shiyin’s decision.   There was little commotion.   It was clear that Zhen Shiyin held considerable weight among the saints. Despite their reluctance, the saints still made way for Zhang Fan to reach the tree where countless Heavenly Fate Sons dangled upside down.   ”Aren’t you afraid I’ll change my mind? You agreed so easily.” Truthfully, Zhang Fan was somewhat surprised by Zhen Shiyin’s decisiveness.   ”We have no choice, and neither do you,” Zhen Shiyin declared.   Zhang Fan fell silent.   Speechless, he sighed softly and slowly opened his mouth.   Using the Transformation of True and False, he gently brushed against the fruits hanging from the vast tree.   A gentle breeze seemed to sweep across the remaining mountains and seas, swaying and swaying countless Destiny Children.   Then, one by one, they fell and vanished.   Meanwhile, Zhang Fan’s aura grew increasingly ethereal.   Admittedly, upon attaining sainthood, Zhang Fan had decided to abandon the pursuit of the Great Dao   of True and False. However, he hadn’t abandoned the idea of using the Great Dao as a tool.   Just as Zhen Shiyin and the surviving saints of the mountains and seas had done in this lifetime, they were merely avatars of the “Destiny Children,” masters of the Great Dao of True and False.   Zhang Fan could personally wield the power of the Transformation of True and False.   As the fruits fell, the entire tree withered.   Leaves turned yellow and fluttered.   Branches broke, falling into the void, dissolving into ashes.   Correspondingly…   the lives of the watching saints, like flowers, withered one by one.   Faced with death, the saints showed little fear.   They simply gazed at the numbers of true and false in the void, calmly awaiting their fate.   ”This…”   Zhang Fan hadn’t imagined that this tree was actually sustained by the lives of the saints. This ultimately explained why the saints had previously remained intact during the reset of the mountains and seas.   Although he didn’t kill the saints, they died because of his own thoughts.   After all, he had spent most of his life in seclusion, and the only time he spent with others was filled with kindness.   Zhang Fan couldn’t help but feel a shock.   ”It’s nothing, just another death.”   ”They have been favored by the fate of truth and falsehood. Although they don’t have the vision that can penetrate the cycle of reincarnation like I do now, they have also gained an understanding of their own destiny, which is why they can face death so calmly.”   ”Whether our plan succeeds or not, they will reappear with the reset of the mountains and seas.” Zhen Shiyin stood beside Zhang Fan and spoke slowly.   In truth, no comfort was needed.   The shock in his heart lasted only a few moments, and Zhang Fan’s attention was focused on the avenue of truth and falsehood that was flowing across the sky.   It was the fate of billions of children of destiny.   Now, it was like a trickle, all flowing into Zhang Fan’s mouth.   The vision gradually brightened.   The mountains and seas of the apocalypse were no longer dark, and everything seemed to be traceable.

A scroll seemed to emerge before Zhang Fan’s eyes.

Everything that once existed within the mountains and seas was contained within this scroll.

However, as the Dao eroded, the images of the mountains and sea within the scroll gradually became transparent.

To ordinary eyes, the mountains and

seas vanished. But to those who possessed the true and false Dao, simply reinjecting power would cause them to reappear!

“This is the [Summary of the Transformation of Mountains and Seas],”

Zhang Fan muttered to himself, captivated by this enigmatic scene.

But there was more to it.

Beyond the scroll, a figure seemed to loom.

All the changes within the scroll, even the scroll itself, were controlled by this figure.

After memorizing every detail within the scroll, Zhang Fan strained his gaze to penetrate the scroll’s barrier and gaze upon the figure.

This transgression caused the scroll to tremble with incomparable force.

Everywhere he looked, the mountains and sea surged upward, attempting to block Zhang Fan’s prying gaze.

Zhang Fan, using his mastery of the Great Dao of True and False, suppressed all disturbances. His goal remained unchanged: to gaze upon the figure holding the scroll beyond the painting.

The clash of these two forces tore the mountain and sea scroll apart, shattering it piece by piece.

Correspondingly, Zhang Fan’s soul seemed to develop countless tiny cracks, on the brink of collapse.

It wasn’t simply injury; it was suffering the backlash of the shift between true and false, the very foundation of his existence steadily eroding.

Changsheng and Wangji, the twin forces of the Great Dao of Mountain and Sea, struggled to repair the cracks in Zhang Fan’s soul.

Though their efforts were limited, they gave Zhang Fan more time to peer.

Finally, Zhang Fan’s vision pierced the obstruction of the mountain and sea scene and caught sight of the figure holding the scroll.

Boom boom boom!

As if his soul had been violently impacted, the mountains and sea, even the Dao of the surrounding ethereal realm, faded into the background, becoming insignificant and fading from view.

Even the countless paths, the Great Dao of True and False, seemed like floating clouds.

Zhang Fan saw only one person.

In that instant, he saw himself.

And…

another layer of phantoms floating around him.

The God-Slaying Transformation World.

As Zhang Fan broke through the barriers and, through the channel of truth and falsehood, gazed at Li Fan

, Li Fan, using the other’s gaze, for the first time, saw himself from outside his body.

Thus, he, too, discovered the layer of phantoms hovering over him. He

had clearly stripped away all experiences and memories since his reincarnation, leaving

only the purest state of his time traveling.

Yet, for some reason, another alien presence hovered above his head!

For some reason, Li Fan, suddenly witnessing this scene, wasn’t particularly surprised.

Everything had been expected.

In fact, he felt that not having a backup plan would be unbelievable.

“I wonder if this phantom originates from my past self. Or…”

“That fallen true god.”

Li Fan and Zhang Fan’s gaze met for only a brief moment.

When [Out-of-Body Vision] vanished, Li Fan could no longer observe the ever-present phantom above him.

It was as if He didn’t exist in the first place. Even the transformation of truth and falsehood couldn’t bring Him to life in his mind.

Even the memory of the phantom’s existence was slowly fading.

After trying and finding no way to stop it, Li Fan decided to seize the last few moments and deduce as much as possible about the phantom’s origins.

First, he ruled out the possibility that Li Fan had been involved.

“Now, my understanding of the great principles of truth and falsehood has almost reached the pinnacle of mountains and seas. Even compared to my former self, I’m not much weaker.”

“I don’t think he has the strength to achieve this level.”

“It resides within the body, unconscious and unfeeling, invisible, unrememberable, and unrecallable.”

“It transcends mountains and seas, beyond cognition.” “

The phantom of the true God…”

In just a moment, Li Fan made his judgment.

“It’s still based on what we knew before.”

“This world is in an endless cycle.”

“Even true gods find it difficult to survive. As time goes by, new consciousness will differentiate in the body. No matter whether this consciousness comes from the once devoured divine spirit, or is purely a new evolution.”

“In short, the old gods fall, and new gods descend. This is a foregone conclusion.”

“It is said to be a fall, but in fact, the word return can also be used. Because…”

“[God] seems to have uniqueness. After becoming a god, God is God.”

“Reincarnation flows, and now it is the time when the mountains and seas are divided into gods.”

“Things have changed.”

“The mountains and seas are just two differentiated thoughts before the new gods evolved. The only meaning of their existence is the transition between the fall and resurrection of the true gods.”

“But they foresee that they are destined to die in the future. Unwilling to accept this, they try to change their fate.”

“They staged a grand show, concealing the truth from the world and transforming into stars. If the show ends perfectly, they will replace the god who was supposed to appear and become the new god…”

At this point, Li Fan’s thoughts paused.

The phantom of the True God was disappearing faster and faster, and he had to speed up.

“There is only one God. But who becomes a god seems to be more than one.”

“Shanhai’s name wasn’t on the original list of gods. But they forced it to change…”

“The True God has infinite power, knowing the past, present, and future. So, before his demise, he foresaw future events.”

“So he brought me from the outer world to be the one who breaks the deadlock.”

“But…”

“Is that all?”

A cold glint flashed in Li Fan’s eyes.

“With God’s farsightedness, he should have seen everything that happened after I successfully tore apart the drama of mountains and seas.”

“Just as Zhen Shiyin and the others said.”

“The mountains and seas are shattered, reincarnation ends, and everything belongs to me.”

“…”

“This is not the result that the true God wanted.”

“Sacrificing himself just to break the endless reincarnation of this world and make me an outsider?”

“God, are you so kind?”

Li Fan snorted coldly,

outright dismissing the possibility.

“Yet that True God still did it without hesitation.”

“Just because…”

“He was absolutely certain I could destroy the Great Drama of Mountains and Seas, and annihilate the Star of Birth. But ultimately, he couldn’t slay the God.”

“The God can see far into the future, foreseeing the entire future. Despite exhausting every possibility, he couldn’t foresee my successful slaying of the God. That’s why he did it.”

“You’re asking me to do this part-time job, and you’re even asking me to be your scapegoat…”

“That’s really going too far.”

Li Fan’s heart no longer held the anger he’d felt when he first discovered the truth.

He simply chuckled helplessly.

But behind that laughter, Li Fan’s gaze was unprecedentedly cold.

“Is the only reason for this final outcome this True God’s phantom above me?”

In the remaining time, Li Fan deduced as much as he could about the countermeasures.

The ink faded, the phantom vanished.

Li Fan’s expression betrayed a moment of confusion.

“It seems…”

“I’ve forgotten something extremely important.”

Feeling the inexplicable throbbing in his heart, Li Fan pondered.

“Do you have any idea?”

He looked at the shadowy figure standing beside him.

The shadowy figure had no subjective consciousness, only mechanical reactions.

In order to understand Li Fan’s answer, the light and shadow tried to trace back.

But in the end, nothing was found.

Li Fan’s expression did not change much.

“Sometimes, not having an answer is already the answer.”

“I’m already at the top of this world, and who can make me undergo such strange changes…”

“Only God.”

“It makes no difference whether you remember it or not.”
