    Chapter 1769: Abandoned Zhenzhen

    “Huanzhen…”

The more Zhang Fan comprehended, the more uneasy he felt.

While marveling at the boundless mysteries of the Great Dao of True and Falsehood, he also felt a slight pang of pain because it didn’t truly belong to him.

It was like standing before a peerless beauty, only to feast his eyes on her

in vain. Amidst this sense of loss, Zhang Fan suddenly felt a stirring in his heart: “However, the true and false Great Dao remains uncertain. Even if the person behind the scenes sees us as pawns, they have at least given us the opportunity to encounter Huanzhen.”

“There’s no corner in the world that can’t be conquered…”

Zhang Fan quickly regained his spirits, devoting himself to comprehending the transformation of true and false.

Halfway out of his shackles, he realized that besides directly plundering through mutual slaughter, his own understanding could also strengthen his understanding of the transformation of true and falsehood. In fact,

his own understanding might even be more “reliable” than what he stole from other Destiny Children.

With this conviction, Zhang Fan entered a long period of seclusion.

Despite the treacherous and bloody world outside, he remained steadfast in his enlightenment.

Time passed, and the chess pieces Li Fan had scattered across the mountains and seas gradually perished in silence.

From the initial grand spectacle of a vast expanse of mountains and seas, only a handful remained. The swiftness of the change was truly unexpected.

The root cause was that the “reality” of a particular moment in time and place could not be called “reality” at all.

There was no such thing as a reversal force that could instantly reset the entire mountain and sea. Countless powerful beings existed within the mountains and seas, and countless methods were available to counter “reality.”

What seemed like a mere numerical difference was, in fact, a fundamental difference.

Zhang Fan realized this immediately upon awakening from his slumber.

He felt ashamed of his past arrogance and ignorance. “I’m truly a young, inexperienced person. I thought I could conquer the mountains and seas with the power of Huanzhen. In reality, anyone at the Saint level could probably break Huanzhen’s protection and suppress it directly.”

“And there are so many Saints in the mountains and seas! If they all joined forces…”

A thought flashed through Zhang Fan’s mind, and he silently recited the seven words, “When truth becomes false, falsehood becomes true.”

It was as if he were viewing the entire mountains and seas from Huanzhen’s perspective. He had a general overview of the true and false paths that crisscrossed the mountains and seas.

“I’ve only been in seclusion for a short time, and yet the numbers have dwindled so much.”

“No… there are still a lot more, gathering somewhere!” Zhang Fan’s expression changed. He didn’t dare to actually look, but only silently sensed them. He

felt a sense of shock, but also a touch of pity.

In the past, when countless Destiny Children were present, it was such a lively scene. He even considered gathering everyone to uncover the person behind the scenes.

    Now it seemed…

“Possessing the Great Dao of True and Falsehood is indeed a supreme blessing. But harboring a hidden power is a sin, and the risks are truly terrifying. The Saints are watching covetously, and a mere Son of Heaven truly has no way to escape.”

Thinking of this, the desire that had been brewing in Zhang Fan during this retreat intensified.

    That was…

he was going to abandon the Great Dao of True and Falsehood and pursue other paths that truly belonged to him!

This decision, even to Zhang Fan himself, was incredibly unthinkable.

The Great Dao of Heaven was within reach. Instead of seizing and cultivating, he was pursuing other, lesser paths?

    It was unwise.

But Zhang Fan knew he had his reasons.

“Because [True], after all, does not belong to me!” Zhang Fan sighed again.

During his long retreat, he constantly tried to grasp it more tightly. But the Great Dao of True and Falsehood didn’t grow closer to him.

Nor did it grow farther away.

Instead, it remained ever so distant, as if preordained.

After countless failures, Zhang Fan finally decided to give up.

    “Self-knowledge brings wisdom.”

“Giving up one mountain doesn’t mean losing all the mountains in the world. Perhaps I can find the one that truly belongs to me…” Zhang Fan tried to convince himself.

Although he had officially decided to give up on comprehending the Dao of Truth and Falsehood, it didn’t stop him from still considering [True] as a useful tool.

“Perhaps True] won’t completely reverse the situation at this moment or in this place, but unleashing it in a life-or-death situation will certainly cause some disruption.”

“And all the saints believe that the Sons of Destiny’s greatest trump card is True] . Perhaps this is my chance…”

Zhang Fan’s eyes flashed, and in a breath, a wooden fishing rod appeared in his hand.

Simultaneously, a silver vortex appeared between his brows, and the sound of a knife sharpening seemed to reach his ears.

Although he hadn’t actively sought to comprehend these Daos during his retreat,

they had all actively lent themselves to him, and the connection between him and Zhang Fan had grown invisibly stronger.

He seemed to have returned to that sanctuary, living a comfortable life with the Fisherman, Xuanyuan Hong, and the others. He

had sought so earnestly, but could not obtain it.

A willow tree, planted unintentionally, willows naturally grow into a shade.

This was also a key factor in Zhang Fan’s shift in perspective.

Zhang Fan was no fool; he had already vaguely guessed the reason for the shifts in these great paths.

“It must be because of me that they fell.”

He felt no deep sorrow, only a sense of melancholy.

However, Zhang Fan quickly cast all these emotions aside and began to comprehend the great paths entangled within him.

“Except for the Great Path of Immortality, none of them are mine.”

“The rest are spontaneously converging upon me…”

“Death Slaying, Fishing, Formation Breaking, Forgetting, Fortune, Paper Folding.”

Zhang Fan no longer found these profound paths obscure or difficult, but rather felt incredibly familiar.

“Perhaps compared to the complete Great Path of True and False, they are more than a little weaker.” “

But compared to the incomplete Great Path of True and False…”

    “They are even stronger!”

“A bird in the hand is worth many in the bush!”

Zhang Fan gritted his teeth and finally made his decision.

In an instant, as if his obsession had been shattered, Zhang Fan felt a sense of relief. All

the complex emotions he had previously felt towards “True and False” vanished.

Only the indifference of “gain is my fortune, loss is my fate” remained.

“If you are in my hand, I will regard you as a magic weapon. If you are gone…”

“Then just treat it as a broken magic weapon.”

    Zhang Fan smiled lightly.

Despite years of contemplating the transformation of true and false, he ultimately decided to switch his cultivation. But that didn’t mean all those years were in vain.

Zhang Fan vaguely sensed that the transformation of true and false shared many similarities with the avenues entwined with him, such as slaying lives and fishing.

“Or perhaps it could be said that the transformation of true and false relates to all the avenues of Shanhai in the same way. It’s like the foundation of Shanhai. Comprehending the transformation of true and false, and then understanding the other avenues, will yield twice the result with half the effort. Conversely, if one mastered the other avenues of Shanhai, then mastering the transformation of true and false would naturally increase.”

Zhang Fan pondered, and then retreated to his current location.

Originally, the various avenues within him existed separately and independently.

But over time, fishing, slaying lives, fortuitous luck, folding paper, and so on, seemed to be slowly merging.

The transformation of true and false was like a fusion agent

, allowing all the paths that once belonged to Shanhai’s once-divine visitors to converge within Zhang Fan.

The avenues merged, especially the avenues of Shanhai.

The time required was immense, measured in the lifespan of the mountain and sea.

Zhang Fan seemed to have fallen into a deep slumber.

And the miraculous fortune of the mountain and sea seemed to be working its magic.

Zhang Fan sat quietly, meditating and cultivating.

For an eternity, vast thoughts swept overhead,

yet no trace of Zhang Fan was found.

After an unknown amount of time, all aura surrounding Zhang Fan withdrew. He seemed to have vanished from the mountain and sea.

And the lifespan of the mountain and sea was nearing its end.

Miraculous fortune could no longer protect him, and Dao Yan swallowed him whole.

However, Dao Yan, capable of swallowing the mountain and sea, had no effect on Zhang Fan.

Dark waves rolled, crashing through him, leaving

    him unaffected .

However, sensing something strange around him, Zhang Fan finally awoke.

“Huh? How long have I been asleep?”

Zhang Fan was surprised, but upon realizing his own realm, all his emotions vanished.

    “Sainthood already?”

As he took in his current state, Zhang Fan’s expression was somewhat bewildered.

The endless mountains and seas he had once seen no longer loomed so majestic in his vision.   ”Mountains and seas are nothing more than   this,” Zhang Fan thought.   Transcending through the realm of Sainthood should have been earth-shattering.

Yet   , for Zhang Fan, it happened so silently. It   was a natural progression, without a single movement.   Not even a fluctuation in his aura.   He had attained Sainthood.   Truthfully, Zhang Fan felt a sense of loss. He hadn’t personally experienced the thrill of Sainthood.   ”Thank goodness I’ve finally accomplished this.”   ”Now, I have sufficient power. I no longer need to fear anyone in the mountains and seas.”   Zhang Fan had originally thought he would first head to the place he had sensed behind the scenes and confront the Lord of True Resurrection. But upon realizing the near-extinction of the Son of Heaven and the gathering of the Great Dao of True and Falsehood not far away,   he changed his mind.   ”Someone has to seek justice for you.”   ”Let me, the one who survived, do it.”   Zhang Fan took a light step, heading deeper into the mountains and seas.   There, the saints gathered.   But the full attention of all the saints of the mountains and seas was focused on a single point.   They didn’t even react to Zhang Fan’s gentle arrival.   Zhang Fan followed his gaze.   A towering tree stood tall in the void.   Countless figures hung upside down, like condensed fruit.   The auras of the true and false Dao, varying in strength, emanated from them, unmistakably revealing their identities.   Sons of Destiny!   Zhang Fan spotted many familiar figures among the countless figures.   Among them was Zhou Fan, who had caused him such utter embarrassment by using the magical power of [Everyone Knows].   However, that had happened countless years ago, and Zhang Fan’s resentment had long since faded.   He felt no resentment, only a deep sorrow for his fellow Sons of Destiny.   Although they still possessed the “reality” and seemed to possess the power to return at any moment,   all the Sons of Destiny were trapped in a powerful dream.   This was a web of bondage, forged by the Saints of the Mountains and Seas.   Its influence distorted the perceptions of the Sons of Destiny.   The world they experienced was not the real world. The Truth they thought they had activated hadn’t actually been activated.   ”Are the Saints…”   ”Wanting to use the body of the Son of Destiny to comprehend the Great Dao of Truth and Falsehood?”   Zhang Fan initially thought.   But he soon realized he was mistaken.   No one understood the elusive nature of the Great Dao of Truth and Falsehood better than he did.   Even if they could draw upon the Son of Destiny’s feelings and experiences,   they would never be able to comprehend the truth and falsehood in the slightest. Zhang Fan was convinced that any attempt to comprehend the Truth and Falsehood was doomed to failure.   ”Except for the Lord of Truth and Falsehood, no one in this world can truly comprehend and control truth and falsehood.”   ”After so many years, with the Saints’ ingenuity, it’s impossible not to realize this. So, they are…”   What happened next clarified the issue for Zhang Fan.   The Mountains and Seas ushered in the apocalypse, the Dao annihilation raged, seething.   But the Saints remained unfazed.   From the tree covered with the Sons of Destiny, a strange wave gradually emanated.   Zhang Fan was naturally all too familiar with this.   ”Really?!” He was startled.   A faint light and shadow surged past, engulfing the mountain and sea, only to return and reappear.   It was as if the mountain and sea had been reset.   Yet, the great tree, holding countless Destiny Sons, remained.   The Saints remained.   The mountain and sea, once destined for destruction, had once again experienced a modicum of life thanks to this reset.   ”But what’s the point?” Zhang Fan was puzzled.

“Being alive is meaningful,” a voice echoed, and the gazes of all the saints fell on Zhang Fan.

“Who are you?” Zhang Fan gazed at the young man before him, his heart filled with alarm.

“Qiu Xinhui,” the young man said calmly, then asked, “Are you here to avenge them?”

His motive exposed, Zhang Fan refused to admit it. He simply snorted, “I’m here to liberate them!”

Even though Zhang Fan felt his current strength was enough to surpass all the saints, he still sensed a sense of danger in the young man.

Therefore, he didn’t act immediately, but waited and watched.

For some reason, Qiu Xinhui’s words evoked a strange familiarity.

    “Liberation…” Qiu Xinhui smiled again

and repeated, “Being alive is meaningful.

What do you consider liberation…” “Are they really willing?”

Sensing he might not be able to convince her, Zhang Fan narrowed his eyes. “Whether they are willing or not is up to me!”

“What? You want to stop me?”

Facing the saints present, Zhang Fan remained calm and unafraid. He

    even felt a faint excitement.

His life was truly rather boring.

Upon leaving the village, he was punished by powerful figures like the Fishing Master and forced to remain in the Novice Village.

He finally emerged, and though he experienced a brief period of fighting,

he spent the majority of his subsequent days in seclusion and retreat.

Judging by his physical senses, his life span was less than a century.

It could be said to be quite ordinary.

Now that he had finally achieved success in his cultivation and had the opportunity to compete with the Saints of the Mountains and Seas, how could he miss it?

This was the very reason he had come here.

His heart was stirring, and he could see the blades flashing above the Saints’ heads.

At that moment, a pale speck suddenly came into view.

    The deadly blades dimmed.

Zhang Fan was startled, but he felt a hand on his shoulder.

“Let’s talk it over nicely. Don’t offend anyone.”

“After all, our goals are the same.”

Although the other party didn’t say it explicitly, Zhang Fan knew who the “target” was referring to:

the mastermind behind the creation of countless “Destiny Children.”
