Chapter 1482: The Two Qiaos

He had originally intended to have a heart-to-heart talk with the artistic young woman, but now he was sweating bullets. What was it like to go on a blind date with his own god?

He didn’t even know if the girl before him was the original image of his god or the image of Cai Wenji.

Cai Wenji glanced at him indifferently and put down her pipa: “Cai Yong wants us to go on a blind date?”

Zu An chuckled awkwardly: “God, please don’t misunderstand, I have no intention of offending you.”

“I know you wouldn’t dare. Go back and tell them you have no feelings for me,” Cai Wenji said calmly.

“But in this era, you will still be arranged a marriage by your family,” Zu An said, forcing himself to speak.

“Oh, you want to marry me?” Cai Wenji’s face held a playful look.

“I wouldn’t dare, I’m just helping my god share his burdens, so that he won’t be bothered by worldly affairs,” Zu An said respectfully.

“You don’t need to worry about that. Whoever Cai Yong wants me to marry later, I’ll marry him and make that person die young.” Cai Wenji clearly saw through his thoughts, as if she were talking about something perfectly ordinary.

Zu An’s heart skipped a beat. He hadn’t known that Cai Wenji’s husband, Wei Zhongdao, had also died young in history. Was it really just a coincidence?

He could only completely abandon his idea of marrying a true god: “What are you planning to do in this world?”

“Of course, I’m here to record everything that happens in this world. So many true gods have already come to this world, and it’s shrouded in too much mystery. It’s impossible to observe from the outside; we can only come in ourselves

,” Cai Wenji said. Zu An reported on the situation of Order, Guardian, and Annihilation, hoping to hear her opinion. But to his surprise, she responded indifferently: “I will not participate in the changes of this world. I will only faithfully record everything.”

Zu An was speechless. He had originally hoped to get some help from her and also find out about the whereabouts of the Mysterious One.

Emerging from the backyard, Cai Yong and Lu Zhi curiously inquired about the outcome. Zu An could only smile wryly and say, “Miss Cai has lofty ideals; a mere mortal like me is simply not worthy of her attention.”

Cai Yong frowned. He had initially been quite satisfied with Liu Bei—handsome, virtuous, and with a bright future. His daughter’s temper had indeed been rather eccentric lately.

After leaving the Cai residence, Lu Zhi comforted him, “Xuande, don’t be discouraged. As the saying goes, fate is predetermined. It’s still early today, and the Qiao family isn’t far from here. Let’s go and pay them a visit.”

“Wouldn’t it be inappropriate to suddenly visit like this?” Zu An thought to himself. Having just been rejected by the Cai family, going directly to the Qiao family would surely leave a bad impression.

Lu Zhi smiled slightly, “It’s alright. I’ve been friends with Lord Qiao for many years; he won’t mind.”

He then led him towards the Qiao residence. Upon seeing the two, the gatekeeper sent someone to announce their arrival while leading them inside.

“Please forgive me, Master Lu, but we have guests visiting today, and my master cannot come out to greet them.” The gatekeeper often saw Lu Zhi visiting, so they were quite familiar with each other.

Lu Zhi was a little curious: “I wonder who the distinguished guest is today?”

“Prefect Sun of Changsha, with his son, and another handsome young man, who seems to be his sworn brother,” the gatekeeper replied.

Zu An’s heart skipped a beat. Sun Ce and Zhou Yu! In the history of the Three Kingdoms, they were the official couple of Da Qiao and Xiao Qiao.

Thinking of this, he couldn’t help but sigh at the terrifying nature of fate, which always brought those destined to meet together.

Fortunately, Lu Zhi had the idea to bring him along today, otherwise it would have been troublesome.

You see, Da Qiao and Xiao Qiao were among the most famous women of the Three Kingdoms period, and they likely possessed fragments of the soul of the first true god. He didn’t want someone else to beat him to it.

At this moment, in the main hall of the Qiao family, Qiao Xuan was entertaining the Sun family father and son. He smiled and said to the two women beside him, “Big Qiao and Little Qiao, they are guests from afar, and Young Master Zhou is skilled in music. Why don’t you play a piece for the two young masters to appreciate?”

Sun Ce looked at the two kneeling girls opposite him, his eyes showing amazement.

Big Qiao sat gracefully before the zither, wearing a moon-white long dress, the hem of which flowed like mercury. A silver sash was tied around her waist, making her slender waist appear as delicate as a willow. Her skin was like frost and snow formed from moonlight, radiating a faint, cold light. Her black hair, like a waterfall, was loosely tied up with a white jade hairpin, with a few strands falling beside her ears, gently swaying in the breeze.

Sitting there quietly, she was like a cold moon hanging in the night sky—pure and self-illuminating, untouched by the dust of the world.

Little Qiao sat on the railing beside her sister, her posture relaxed and graceful, like a mermaid resting on a reef. She wore a sea-blue dress, its hem cascading like ocean waves, a silk sash adorned with tiny pearls and shells tied at her waist. Her eyes, as if reflecting the entire ocean, seemed to surge and ebb within them.

Both sisters possessed breathtaking beauty, in no way inferior to Diao Chan, whom they had seen before.

More importantly, the two women looked exactly alike, the only difference being a subtle difference in their auras. Da Qiao seemed to possess an innate aloofness and coldness; when she occasionally glanced up, her gaze sweeping over the flowers and trees in the courtyard, her eyes lacked the curiosity and excitement of ordinary women, only a serene composure born of having witnessed the vicissitudes of life.

A closer look revealed a bottomless loneliness hidden beneath that composure.

Xiao Qiao, on the other hand, was as deep and unfathomable as the ocean. While her eyes were more lively and carefree than her sister’s, it was merely a love of life, not romantic affection. A thin mist would rise in her eyes, like the undercurrents of the deep sea, revealing that she was not the carefree girl she appeared to be.

As the two sat side by side, one was like the bright moon in the sky, ethereal and aloof; the other was like the surging tide of the blue sea, profound and unfathomable. Though they were in the same courtyard, Da Qiao seemed forever bathed in moonlight, while Xiao Qiao seemed to be enveloped in the faint sound of the tide.

Sun Ce couldn’t help but sigh, no wonder the people of Luoyang were marveling at how Lu Gong had been blessed to have two such daughters.

His gaze grew increasingly fervent; what a pair of beautiful sisters!

He must marry them!

At this moment, Da Qiao said calmly, “I am not feeling well today.”

Then she fell silent, her attitude clear: she did not wish to play the zither.

Xiao Qiao also spoke up, “I am not feeling well either,”

her refusal equally decisive.

Qiao Xuan’s expression froze. Although he knew his daughters’ personalities, their rudeness towards the guests today still made him somewhat embarrassed.

Sun Ce, however, was unconcerned; on the contrary, he admired them even more. Their transcendence and indifference were truly captivating.

Just then, a clear voice rang out: “I have a piece called ‘The Song of Rainbow Feathers’ here. I wonder if the two young ladies would be interested in playing it?”

Upon hearing this voice, the two sisters, who had just been aloof, suddenly trembled and looked excitedly toward the door, their eyes filled with disbelief and surprise.
