Keyboard Immortal - Chapter 2828
Chapter 1341: How Did I Become Hong Chengchou?
Many of the large-scale dungeons Zaun had experienced before were related to the world he had traveled to before, and those dungeons were connected to certain dynasties in history.
Once or twice could be considered a coincidence, but to think it was just a coincidence after so many times would be too foolish.
He felt as if an invisible hand was manipulating everything. Could it be some true god…?
Then Aragorn’s voice pulled him back to reality: “We will enter this world. Our specific identities will depend on our respective paths. For example, those in the Merchant Guild are all on the path of order, so our identities will most likely be within the Ming Empire’s court. Our task will be to support the court and rebuild order.”
“As for you, the messenger of memories, you should be even less in danger. In this world, your identities will either be historians or Western missionaries.”
Chu Chuyan couldn’t help but ask, “With the abilities of everyone in the Merchant Guild, anyone could easily solve the various problems of this ancient feudal dynasty. Why do so many people need to go in together?”
“Miss Chu has asked an excellent question,” Aragorn replied. “Because this world is merely a fragment of spacetime copied by a true god with great power. Everything has its own balance. As we enter, although the Ming Empire’s strength will increase, its enemies will also have followers from other paths entering, and their strength will also increase.”
“But this time, with the Grand Elder personally leading the team and the Templar Knights assisting, even the biggest storms can be weathered.”
Zu’an thought to himself, “Don’t make any promises you can’t keep. “
Not long after, the Grand Elder summoned everyone attending the Order Ceremony, explaining the important points to note.
Zu’an noticed that besides the Third and Seventh Elders, the other five elders were all attending.
There were also members of the Templar Knights and other invited figures from various parties, mostly young and promising.
Clearly, they were all there, like Isabella, to gain experience and seniority for future promotions.
He secretly pondered, “If the Fourth Elder hadn’t sent me an invitation, I probably would have missed this Order Ceremony.”
What exactly was Aragorn’s plan? Was he trying to use this opportunity to prevent me from participating, or was he waiting for the other elders to unite…?
Adrian had already regained his composure and smiled at Isabella: “Miss Bella, don’t be afraid after entering the world. I will definitely protect you.”
Isabella looked at Zaun: “Last time, I went through a near-death experience in a secret realm with Brother Zaun, and he was able to protect me. I think this time will be no exception.”
A strange light flashed in Adrian’s eyes. No wonder Isabella was so attached to that kid. So that’s the connection. If I can protect and save her in the secret realm this time as well, I believe she will definitely fall in love with me too.
“He’s just a Mirror Historian recording everything this time. I’m afraid he can’t take care of you. There are so many talented young people from all over the world here. Their adventure experience and strength should be much stronger than his.”
After his father’s guidance, he understood that Zaun had probably only tricked him by relying on that mysterious ability. His father had just given him a magic weapon, so he would be prepared in the future. Given the difference in strength between the two, he could easily crush him.
Seeing this, other forces echoed his sentiments. Although the identity of the Divine Envoy of Zu’an was special, his aura and cultivation were indeed too weak.
Besides, the followers of memories did not interfere in worldly affairs and had little presence in daily life.
But if he could gain the favor of the young lady of the Universal Merchant Guild, his future would be incredibly bright.
Isabella apologized to Zu’an somewhat apologetically, “Brother Zu, don’t take it to heart.”
Zu’an shook his head slightly, “Why would I get angry with some dead people?”
Even a matter that a True God considers significant could cause countless deaths and injuries with just a slight aftershock.
“Ah?” Isabella was taken aback, clearly not understanding why she said that.
Zu’an couldn’t explain, so he could only remind her, “This ceremony may encounter some twists and turns. After we arrive in that world, regardless of our identities, we agree to meet in the west of the Forbidden City.”
Having learned from the previous experience, he knew that they would most likely be scattered in various places.
Last time, they were lucky and fate brought them together again, but he wasn’t sure he would be so lucky this time.
He could no longer bear the pain of being separated from Chu Chuyan.
Isabella nodded, seemingly understanding, while Chu Chuyan smiled faintly at him, clearly sensing his affection.
The young people nearby gritted their teeth at the sight. What magic did this guy possess? He brought his wife to propose, and the noble Isabella wasn’t angry at all, but rather got along so well with him.
Next, several elders opened a spacetime tunnel resembling a stargate and were the first to step inside.
Augustus and his son led a number of elite Templar Knights in proudly.
Zaun led Isabella and Chu Chuyan inside, knowing they would likely be separated afterward, but this gave them peace of mind.
Seeing this, the other young people contributed another wave of anger.
After everyone entered the stargate, they transformed into stars, each falling towards that special late Ming world. They would become specific figures in that period of history, rebuilding the crumbling order.
Suddenly, a finger appeared in the starry sky, gently brushing past one of the stars, altering its original trajectory.
None of those attending the Ceremony of Order noticed this unexpected turn of events.
When Zu An awoke, he found himself sitting in a classical study. He breathed a sigh of relief; it seemed he was some kind of historian.
He wondered what his identity was in this world.
Suddenly, someone rushed in: “Reporting, sir! Something terrible has happened! Hong Niangzi and her men have broken into the prison!”
Zu An was startled, a flood of memories rushing through his mind.
He finally understood his identity.
His expression instantly became extremely strange. How did I become Hong Chengchou?
Hong Chengchou was a notorious traitor in history, originally a high-ranking official of the Ming Dynasty, holding military and political power in several provinces. He suppressed a massive peasant uprising, then was sent by Emperor Chongzhen to fight the Manchus outside the Great Wall. He was defeated, captured, and eventually surrendered to the Qing Dynasty. Even the Qing Dynasty’s rapid conquest of China was largely due to his strategies.
And this was the Ceremony of Order!
Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the Universal Merchant Guild, the Knights Templar, and Isabella are all undoubtedly aligned with the Ming Dynasty, aiming to rebuild its order and stabilize the world.
Does that mean I’m destined to be the villain?
Becoming a traitor to the Ming Dynasty, and later listed as a disloyal subject by the Qing Dynasty, suffering discrimination from both sides—pleasing neither!
But more importantly, shouldn’t I be the wise and impartial historian recording everything? How did I end up with such a significant role?
