Keyboard Immortal - Chapter 2826
Chapter 1339 Tensions Rise
Zaun smiled calmly: “Memory merely records everything faithfully; it never flaunts its power.”
This Grand Elder was indeed a fanatical believer in Order. Judging from his demeanor, he seemed closer to the Templar Knights, who were also part of the Order faction. If he wasn’t mistaken, he definitely favored Isabella marrying Adrian, uniting the two Order factions.
That’s why he’d been kept in the side courtyard for the time being. But someone had invited him to this banquet, so it seemed the Seven Elders weren’t a united front.
The surrounding people looked incredibly strange. He wasn’t flaunting his power? He’d just practically humiliated the young Templar Knight commander, even directly attacking the Grand Master.
However, no one saw anything wrong with it. As a divine messenger, he had that much spirit, especially since Adrian had provoked him first.
That’s how the world is; the same event, viewed differently by different people.
If he were just a poor boy from a remote planet, being trampled underfoot by Adrian wouldn’t seem like a problem to anyone.
Oberon’s face darkened, but he knew that the Memory Followers were indeed like that; in fact, they had good relations with all the True God factions.
After all, they usually only faithfully recorded the facts without interfering in the course of events, and often seemed invisible, making them undetectable.
But this guy didn’t seem like a Memory Follower at all; his behavior was more like that of a follower of the Chaos and Mystic Star Gods.
“We didn’t invite a Memory Follower here, please…”
Before the Grand Elder could finish speaking, a fat figure walked over: “Brother, this matter does indeed need a Memory Follower to witness, especially since he saved Isabella before, and he has the Merchant Guild’s golden friendship badge. If we kick him out, outsiders will inevitably think that our Merchant Guild is ungrateful.”
Zaun’s heart skipped a beat; this guy must be the Fourth Elder Mostima, who had given him the invitation.
Speaking of which, he should thank him, but his lustful eyes darted around, making it hard to like him.
With this buffer, the Third Elder, Aragorn, chimed in, “Yes, brother, with such a crucial matter at hand, let’s not let small things ruin everything.”
Hearing their dissuasion, the First Elder snorted, hesitated for a moment, and ultimately didn’t act.
He turned to Adrian beside him, “Nephew, are you injured? The merchant guild has all sorts of healing elixirs.”
Adrian looked ashamed, while Augustus said, “Thank you for your concern, Elder. He was merely struck by the opponent’s evil magic and suffered no injury.”
He and Oberon both looked at Zaun with suspicion. What kind of ability had he just used? They hadn’t even sensed any energy fluctuations. Was it some kind of law-level
ability? But they had never heard of any similar ability in the path of memory.
The Fourth Elder chuckled, waddling his fat body, “It just so happens that this great Order Ceremony needs the help of a believer in memory to record it, so that we can proclaim the glory of our order to all the worlds. Who could be more suitable than him, as the messenger of the Order God?”
Zaun’s heart skipped a beat. The Order Ceremony?
Isabella thoughtfully explained, “Our guild is the most faithful believer in Order. Every century, we hold a grand ceremony to praise the true god of Order and spread His glory to all worlds. Each ceremony invites devout followers of Order to participate, as well as important figures from other paths to attend.”
Zaun breathed a sigh of relief. He’d developed PTSD from the previous dreamlike gathering; with so many powerful figures present this time, the previous incident shouldn’t happen again.
Augustus said in a deep voice, “I object. He has a grudge against Adrian; I’m afraid it will be difficult for him to be objective and impartial.”
Zaun smiled slightly, “Lord Augustus, are you questioning the judgment of the true god of memory? Since He chose me as His messenger, He naturally believes I am capable of accomplishing these tasks.”
Augustus’s breath caught in his throat. This guy invoked the true god of memory in every word, putting him at a disadvantage.
No matter how powerful he was, he dared not disrespect the true god.
Augustus’s rage level increased by 444…
If this guy weren’t a Messenger of Memory, I would have blasted him to smithereens long ago!
“The God of Memory is naturally correct, but a fickle lover like you is truly hard to like.” A handsome man in a magnificent robe walked in from outside the hall. Time hadn’t left a single mark on his face; instead, it had given him a more mature air. He must have captivated countless young women in his youth.
Many female guests in the hall couldn’t help but gasp, their eyes sparkling as if they would faint from excitement at the mere sight of him.
Seeing his elder’s robes and his handsome face, comparable to his own, Zaun naturally knew that he must be the Second Elder Hermes that Isabella had mentioned.
Hermes glanced at Zu’an and Chu Chuyan beside him, a hint of disgust flashing in his eyes: “Since you already have a wife, you should be devoted to her. You shouldn’t have developed feelings for other women, and you certainly shouldn’t have brought her to Isabella to propose marriage. You’re the worst of the worst, with the lowest of morals.”
Zu’an: “…”
A bit of a headache. He almost forgot about this guy’s supposedly devoted lover persona.
Hearing his words, many noblewomen and young women in the hall clutched their chests, looking smitten:
“Ah, Hermes is so devoted.”
“That’s a truly good man.” “
How wonderful it would be if I could marry him.”
“You’re dreaming. If anyone’s going to marry someone, it’ll be me.”
“That Zu guy is indeed a scumbag, pshaw, all looks and no substance.”
…
As her lover was being verbally attacked, Chu Chuyan spoke up, “Sir, you are not me, so how do you know I’m unhappy? Besides, I strongly supported Azu’s marriage proposal. He and Miss Isabella went through life and death together, forging a deep bond. If we were separated because of me, I would truly be unhappy.”
Hermes sneered, “Since you love him and don’t want him to be unhappy, yet he doesn’t consider your feelings at all and pursues other women, doesn’t that further prove he doesn’t love you?” Chu Chuyan looked at
Zu’an, her gentle eyes filled with endless smiles, “Azu and I have been through countless things; our feelings far surpass any words. Why do we need to prove it to others?”
In the vast and magnificent hall, the distinguished guests from all the heavens and realms watched the slender and beautiful figure in the center firmly protecting her lover, and they all praised her.
The Fourth Elder, Mostima, stared intently at Chu Chuyan, “Miss Chu, do you have any older or younger sisters?”
“I have two younger sisters.” Chu Chuyan was somewhat puzzled as to why he asked this.
“I wouldn’t dare to hope for someone like Miss Chu. If your sister were half as considerate and gentle as you, could you introduce her to me?” Mostima’s eyes were filled with longing.
Chu Chuyan: “…”
“I’m sorry, they are already engaged.”
Of course, it wasn’t convenient to reveal their relationship with Zaun at this time, lest it invite further criticism from their lovers.
“That’s such a pity.” Mostima said regretfully, her eyes seemingly reluctant to leave her.
“Fourth brother, don’t interrupt, she’s just making excuses!” Hermes frowned, about to say something more, when suddenly an incredibly alluring voice rang out:
“Second brother, I think this young man is quite good, I like him.”
