Keyboard Immortal - Chapter 2823
Chapter 1336: Surrounded by Stars
After seeing Alfred off, Chu Chuyan went to Zaun’s room—the two were seated in adjacent courtyards. Although she knew it would be disrespectful to put guests in the same room, it still made her wonder if this was the young lady’s idea.
She was about to speak when she suddenly looked around warily.
The incident on the starship still haunted her, especially knowing that these technologically advanced civilizations often had cameras.
Seeing her wary expression, Zaun chuckled, “Don’t worry, it’s been checked, it’s safe.” Just
in case, he had set up a protective field around himself to prevent sound and images from spreading.
Chu Chuyan breathed a sigh of relief, then frowned slightly, “I feel something’s not right. Isabella was so enthusiastic towards you before, but now she’s suddenly disappeared. It doesn’t make sense.”
“It is indeed not right. Last time, her father also warmly invited me over, but this time when I arrived, he only sent an old servant to greet me.” Zaun didn’t have any problem with Alfred, but these details revealed too much.
“Do you think the big event they mentioned might be the visit of the Knights Templar?”
“That is indeed a big event, but it shouldn’t be so important that they can’t spare the time to see us.”
“I know!” Chu Chuyan’s eyes suddenly lit up.
Zu An was taken aback; he was still a bit confused.
“It must be some important figure in the Knights Templar who likes Isabella, and might even be proposing to her,” Chu Chuyan deduced.
Zu An’s expression was strange: “Too little information; such a deduction is rather arbitrary.”
“Most likely, that explains why Isabella didn’t come to see you,” Chu Chuyan analyzed. “I believe that Sister Bella is definitely not the kind of person who would easily change her mind. The reason she didn’t come to see you is most likely because the Merchant Guild didn’t want the Knights Templar to misunderstand, so they restricted her freedom. As for her father’s attitude, I can’t judge.”
Zu An had initially thought it was a joke, but his expression quickly became serious: “Your analysis is indeed very likely. As for her father, after all, he’s only one of the seven elders. If the other six all favored a marriage alliance with the Knights Templar, he might not be able to stop it.” Then, he asked curiously
, “Why did you think of that?”
“A woman’s intuition,” Chu Chuyan glared at him, “especially after spending so much time with a womanizer like you, she’ll naturally be able to guess.”
Zu An chuckled a few times, then quickly changed the subject: “There’s no point in thinking about it now. Let’s go out for a walk and see if we can get any information.”
Chu Chuyan also wanted to explore this new world, so the two headed out, but were quickly stopped. Of course, the excuse was still very polite, saying that the city was under martial law recently, and since they didn’t have passes, they would be in danger if they were spotted by the patrols.
Back in the room, Chu Chuyan was still a little angry: “Isn’t this like we’re under house arrest?”
Zu An, however, remained calm: “Maybe it’s for protection.”
“You’re good at comforting yourself.” Chu Chuyan rolled her eyes at him, annoyed.
“We’re new here, it wouldn’t look good if we caused trouble with the hosts.” Zu An sat down leisurely on the sofa and poured a glass of wine from the refrigerator, handing it to her.
Chu Chuyan was somewhat surprised: “Huh, have you changed after we’ve been apart for so long? I remember you weren’t such a docile and timid person.”
“Because our best strategy right now is to wait.”
“Wait for what?”
“Wait for certain people to come knocking on our door.”
Chu Chuyan was a little puzzled, but soon someone came to verify his statement.
A glamorous woman dressed in the stereotypical manner of a boss’s secretary came to deliver an invitation, inviting him to tomorrow’s banquet.
Zu An accepted the invitation: “Beautiful lady, may I ask who sent me this invitation?”
“Handsome young man, guess?” The secretary laughed heartily.
“It must be Mr. Golden Desire.” Actually, it wasn’t hard to guess. Zu An had specifically asked Isabella about the seven elders of the Round Table Conference.
With such a glamorous secretary, it could only be the fourth elder with a harem of wives and concubines, Golden Desire Mostima.
The secretary looked slightly surprised, then smiled and said, “As expected of someone valued by the fourth elder, tomorrow’s banquet will definitely be very exciting.”
After saying that, she swayed her hips and left in a flirtatious manner.
After she left, Chu Chu’s face turned frosty: “I don’t like her.”
This woman was too alluring; compared to her, the women around Zu An were much more pleasing to the eye.
Zu An chuckled, “They’re just here to deliver an invitation.”
“How did you know someone would come?”
“Where there are people, there’s a world of intrigue. I don’t believe those seven elders are a united front. Since someone doesn’t want me to see Isabella, someone else definitely wants me to.”
Chu Chuyan was full of admiration, “You’re so composed.”
Zu An examined the black-gold invitation in his hand and quickly put it away, “There’s nothing much going on now, so just rest and recharge.”
Chu Chuyan’s pretty face instantly flushed, “Weren’t you supposed to be recharging? What do you want from me?”
“Don’t you know my cultivation method is special? The more I’m with you, the more my power grows.”
“Pah! What do you mean ‘with me’? I’m fine with being with any woman.”
“Haha, don’t worry about the details, you’re different.”
…
The next evening, the alluring female secretary from before picked them up in a flying shuttle and took them to the banquet hall.
Although the whole world here is called the Hall of Wealth, only the main hall of the Chamber of Commerce headquarters is the legendary true Hall of Wealth.
The entrance to the main hall wasn’t a door in the traditional sense, but rather a slowly rotating star vortex, seemingly shrunk and placed here by some invisible force.
Zu An and Chu Chuyan exchanged a glance, thankful they hadn’t tried to force their way in, otherwise they probably wouldn’t have even been able to get through.
The shuttle was guided by a soft golden light, passing through the star vortex, the surrounding stars transforming into dazzling, flowing light.
“Madam, sir, I’ll take you this far, please!” The alluring female secretary smiled and bowed.
Zu An and Chu Chuyan entered, seeing no traditional dome, only a starry sky embellished by divine power and technology. Bands of light, strung together by stars, meandered through the hall, forming the Chamber of Commerce’s famous emblem—an ancient coin entwined with stars, its square hole seemingly depicting the cycle of the universe’s birth and death.
“The space here seems to be folded,” Chu Chuyan secretly transmitted.
Zu An nodded. Countless floating platforms, corridors, and halls within the main hall were connected by rainbow-like energy links.
Some platforms are tranquil gardens, planted with rare and exotic trees whose leaves are like jade and whose fruits are like gemstones; other platforms are filled with buildings of different styles, from celestial palaces to mechanical star fortresses, representing the civilizations and tributes of different worlds under the guild’s rule.
These gardens and fortresses were clearly not built within the main hall, but rather were mysteriously incorporated into it, making them appear as if they were part of the main hall.
A strange fragrance permeated the air, like a mixture of millions of years of agarwood and the aura of a nascent nebula. A gentle inhale made one feel refreshed and invigorated, even the circulation of one’s internal energy became more active.
“The guild is truly generous, filling this place with the purest primordial energy of the universe. Just standing here for a moment is equivalent to months of arduous cultivation outside,” Zu An thought to himself. He had visited many blessed lands, but none had the richness of energy here.
Chu Chuyan was equally shocked, thinking it was a pity that Manman wasn’t here. It was too unfair for her to bear such pressure from a rival alone.
“Those waiters around don’t seem to be human,” she muttered to herself after observing them.
Zaun noticed the slender, luminous lifeforms dressed in magnificent gowns, their smiles always precise to the millimeter, perfectly fulfilling every guest’s request.
“This must be some kind of law manifesting; anyone who causes trouble here will surely die a horrible death.”
At this moment, the guests had gathered in small groups. A colossal being with a body made of lava was clinking glasses with a silicon-based lifeform surrounded by data streams; the liquid in their glasses resembled a liquid galaxy.
Several elegantly dressed, otherworldly elders were discussing a precious tree that bore divine fruits unique to different worlds.
Others constantly shifted between physical and ethereal forms, seemingly merely projections of a higher dimension into this space.
But what drew even more attention was a young man with blond hair, dressed in a white knight’s uniform, surrounded by guests who seemed to revolve around him like a multitude of gods.
The blond man, with a flawless smile, was talking to a beautiful young woman beside him.
Anyone could tell he was madly pursuing her.
The woman was Isabella, but her beautiful face was devoid of any smile, even carrying a hint of anger.
She turned her head impatiently, and her eyes lit up when she saw Zaun enter.
