Chapter 874 Entering the Demon Abyss, Shocking Hearing of the Inheritance

the Endless Abyss of Inheritance, also known as the Dark Abyss by some cultivators.

Located deep within the Chaotic Star Sea, it is a renowned forbidden zone in the starry sky.

It is said that there are several such forbidden zones.

Legend has it that the Dark Abyss is filled with countless dangers; those at the Nascent Soul Realm who enter are almost certain to die. Even

those at the Dao Integration Realm have a high chance of perishing.

According to what the old Azure Dragon told him back in the Returning Ruins Secret Realm,

even Dao Transformation Immortals seem to be deeply wary of it.

Very few have managed to explore the Dark Abyss and emerge unscathed. In

ancient times, the Cursed Elder, a master of curses, offended a Dao Transformation Immortal and fled into the Dark Abyss, disappearing without a trace.

However, last time, Lu Qing learned from the white-clad woman of the Kongming Sect that the founder of the Black and White Sect seemed to have luckily returned from the Dark Abyss.

Furthermore, they gained a tremendous opportunity, which spurred the subsequent rise of the Black and White Sect.

The Dark Demon Pearl, which could temporarily shield the will of the Heavenly Dao of the Life World and was brought back from the Dark Abyss by their ancestor, was the

very pearl that Mo Cangtian and the others had brought back. Now, seeing Qiu Ruofeng and the others emerge from the Dark Abyss, Lu Qing was naturally surprised.

However, he did not directly inquire about this matter, but instead asked about the purpose of the other party summoning him here.

Faced with Lu Qing’s question, Qiu Ruofeng did not answer directly.

He stroked his beard, a meaningful smile appearing on his face, and asked in return, “Fellow Daoist Lu, aren’t you curious as to why we came out of this Dark Abyss?”

Upon hearing this, Lu Qing’s expression darkened slightly.

This old fellow was still keeping them in suspense.

“Fellow Daoist Qiu,” Lu Qing said calmly, his voice utterly undisturbed, “my patience is limited. If you continue to be so secretive and play games with me, then don’t blame me for being impolite.”

As soon as he finished speaking, an invisible aura emanated from Lu Qing.

The aura wasn’t violent; in fact, it could be described as somewhat restrained. Yet, this restrained aura seemed to freeze the surrounding space instantly.

Qiu Ruofeng’s smile froze.

The black-robed men behind him also experienced a sudden contraction in their pupils, their bodies instinctively tensing, their internal magical power surging wildly, as if they had encountered an extremely terrifying being.

A chill rose from their hearts, shooting straight to the top of their heads.

It was the shadow of death.

They could clearly sense that this seemingly too young Dao Integration Realm cultivator before them, although merely a divine sense avatar, if he were to attack, none of them would be able to leave alive.

The black-robed men were utterly horrified.

They were no ordinary people.

Those sent by the Netherworld Palace to participate in such confidential matters were all ancient monsters who had lived for thousands or even tens of thousands of years, all top experts in the Dao Integration Realm.

Yet, facing Lu Qing’s divine sense avatar, they felt an unprecedented sense of crisis.

It was as if Lu Qing could annihilate them at any time if he so desired.

“This…this is the ‘extraordinary’ who achieved the Dao Integration Realm with nine Great Daos?”

a black-robed man muttered to himself, his voice filled with barely concealed fear.

The others remained silent, but the shock and awe in their eyes were unmistakable.

They finally understood why Qiu Ruofeng had so solemnly warned their Netherworld Palace not to provoke Lu Qing after returning from the Tianyuan Great World.

It wasn’t that Qiu Ruofeng was making a fuss; rather, this man’s strength truly exceeded their imagination.

Although only at the initial stage of Dao Integration, his oppressive aura was far more terrifying than that of these late-stage Dao Integration Realm veterans who had cultivated for thousands of years.

Qiu Ruofeng panicked as well.

He quickly waved his hand, forcing a smile: “Fellow Daoist Lu, please calm down! Please calm down! How could this old man dare to mock you? It’s just…it’s just that this matter is a long story, and I don’t know where to begin.”

Lu Qing didn’t speak, only quietly watching him.

The aura emanating from him hadn’t dissipated.

A fine layer of sweat appeared on Qiu Ruofeng’s forehead.

He took a deep breath, knowing that if he kept this up any longer, this person was probably about to make a move.

He had personally witnessed Lu Qing’s ruthless decisiveness in slaying Mo Cangtian and the other old demons.

So he quickly said, “Fellow Daoist, if you want to know the truth, it’s actually very simple. Words are meaningless, and even if I told you, you might not believe me completely. Why don’t you come with us inside and see for yourself? That might be more convincing.”

“Inside?” Lu Qing raised an eyebrow slightly, his gaze passing over Qiu Ruofeng and landing on the huge black crack that stretched across the starry sky behind him. “You mean, enter this Dark Abyss?”

Qiu Ruofeng nodded, his expression serious. “That’s right. The answer you seek lies within this Abyss.”

Lu Qing didn’t answer immediately, but quietly looked at the crack.

The crack was as black as ink, emitting no light, as if it could devour everything.

Just looking at it made one’s mind tremble, as if even one’s soul would be sucked in.

The Dark Abyss, one of the most dangerous and perilous places in the Chaotic Star Sea.

Even a powerful cultivator at the Dao Realm could perish in this perilous place if they rashly entered.

Yet, Qiu Ruofeng was inviting him in?

“Fellow Daoist Lu?” Qiu Ruofeng asked cautiously, seeing his prolonged silence, “What do you think, Fellow Daoist?”

Lu Qing withdrew his gaze and looked at Qiu Ruofeng.

He pondered for a moment, then slowly nodded: “Very well, I’ll go in with you and see what tricks you’re up to.”

Qiu Ruofeng was overjoyed and repeatedly said, “Thank you for your trust, Fellow Daoist! Rest assured, we would never dare to play tricks on you!”

Lu Qing waved his hand and said calmly, “Let me make this clear: what I’ve come here with is merely a divine sense avatar. Even if I perish, it won’t be a big deal. But if you dare to play any tricks…”

He didn’t finish his sentence, but his meaning was clear.

Qiu Ruofeng quickly said, “Fellow Daoist, rest assured! We have absolutely no ill intentions! This matter is of great importance. We are grateful for your willingness to help; how could we dare have any other thoughts?”

Grateful?

Lu Qing’s heart skipped a beat as he noticed the other person’s choice of words.

However, he didn’t say anything, but simply nodded slightly.

Qiu Ruofeng breathed a sigh of relief and turned to the black-robed figures, saying, “Everyone, let’s go in.”

The black-robed figures nodded in unison and flew towards the huge black crack.

Lu Qing followed behind, also approaching the crack.

The closer they got to the crack, the stronger the eerie aura became.

The aura was ancient and vast, as if it had existed for countless ages, yet it seemed to belong to another world.

Lu Qing could even vaguely sense a powerful force surging within the crack, as if it might erupt at any moment.

“No wonder it’s called a forbidden zone…”

Lu Qing thought to himself.

Ordinary cultivators wouldn’t dare approach such a dangerous place.

It was only because he was proficient in the Dao of Space and his perception of spatial fluctuations far surpassed that of ordinary people that he could be so composed.

But even so, he wasn’t careless in the slightest.

After all, this was a place even Dao Transformation Immortals feared.

A moment later, the group arrived at the edge of the crack.

Up close, the crack was even more shocking.

It stretched across the starry sky, its width immeasurable, its length endless.

It was like an unhealable scar on the vast cosmos.

At its edges, space was distorted and erratic, with spatial rifts appearing intermittently, emanating a chilling aura.

Inside the rift was pure darkness, devoid of light and sound, as if time and space themselves had lost their meaning.

“Fellow Daoist Lu, stay close to us,” Qiu Ruofeng cautioned. “The space within this Demon Abyss is extremely chaotic; a slight misstep can lead to disorientation. We have specially made guiding talismans to ensure we don’t get lost.”

Lu Qing nodded, saying nothing more.

He wasn’t worried about getting lost; with his mastery of the Dao of Space, even if he did lose his way, he could find his way back.

However, since Qiu Ruofeng was prepared, he was happy to save himself the trouble.

Qiu Ruofeng took out a black talisman, inscribed with complex runes and emitting a faint glow.

He chanted incantations, and the talisman suddenly lit up, transforming into a beam of light that disappeared into the crack.

“Go!”

Qiu Ruofeng shouted, rushing into the crack first.

The black-robed figures followed closely behind.

Lu Qing didn’t hesitate, taking a step forward and entering the crack as well.

In an instant, the world spun.

The moment he entered the crack, Lu Qing felt everything around him change.

Endless darkness enveloped him; there was no light, no sound, and he completely lost his sense of direction.

He felt as if he had been thrown into a void, surrounded by the same darkness in all directions.

If it weren’t for the magical fluctuations emanating from the black-robed figures, he wouldn’t even be able to pinpoint their location.

“Is this the interior of the Demon Abyss?”

Lu Qing thought with a chill.

Such an environment would be an immense test for any cultivator.

Without direction or reference, a slight misstep could lead to being lost in this endless darkness, never to find a way out.

No wonder it’s said that even those at the Dao Integration Realm might perish upon entering.

The risk of getting lost alone is enough to deter countless cultivators.

But Lu Qing didn’t panic.

He calmed himself and carefully sensed the spatial fluctuations around him.

After a moment, he understood.

Although the space inside this Demon Abyss was extremely chaotic, it wasn’t without pattern.

Those chaotic spatial fluctuations faintly revealed a peculiar pattern, as if guided by some invisible force.

As long as this pattern was grasped, finding direction wouldn’t be difficult.

“Fellow Daoist Lu, are you alright?” Qiu Ruofeng’s voice came from ahead.

Lu Qing replied calmly, “I’m fine.”

Qiu Ruofeng breathed a sigh of relief and said, “That’s good. Fellow Daoist, keep up. We need to speed things up. Spatial storms erupt every so often in this Demon Abyss. If we’re unlucky enough to encounter one, even we’re likely to be in grave danger.”

Lu Qing nodded and followed.

The group moved swiftly through the darkness.

The surroundings were deathly silent, with only occasional spatial fluctuations reminding Lu Qing that this was no ordinary place.

After flying for an unknown amount of time, a glimmer of light suddenly appeared ahead.

The light was extremely faint, yet remarkably conspicuous in the endless darkness.

“We’ve arrived,” Qiu Ruofeng said. “That’s our Netherworld Palace’s stronghold in the Demon Abyss.”

The group flew towards the light.

Upon closer inspection, Lu Qing discovered that the light emanated from a massive floating rock.

The rock, roughly tens of miles in circumference, hovered in the darkness, emitting a faint glow.

On the rock, some buildings and cultivators were vaguely visible.

“This is…” Lu Qing raised an eyebrow slightly.

Qiu Ruofeng explained, “This floating rock was brought in from the outside world at great expense by our Netherworld Palace. The array on it can withstand spatial storms, providing us with a foothold in the Demon Abyss.”

Lu Qing nodded, asking no further questions.

The group landed on the floating rock.

The cultivators on the rock bowed to them, and several powerful elders approached, their gazes fixed on Lu Qing with curiosity and scrutiny.

Qiu Ruofeng waved his hand, signaling them to step back, then said to Lu Qing, “Fellow Daoist Lu, please follow me.”

He led Lu Qing to a large hall in the center of the floating stone.

The hall was simply furnished, with only a few stone tables and chairs, but it was densely covered with array formations and restrictions, clearly an important place.

After everyone was seated, Qiu Ruofeng looked at Lu Qing and said solemnly, “Fellow Daoist Lu, now I can tell you everything.”

Lu Qing didn’t speak, but simply looked at him quietly.

Qiu Ruofeng took a deep breath and slowly began to speak.

“The reason why our Netherworld Palace is so concerned about this Dark Abyss, even at great cost in establishing a stronghold here, is to find something.”

“What is it?” Lu Qing asked.

Qiu Ruofeng said, word by word, “The legacy left behind by a fallen ancient powerful being.”

Lu Qing’s heart stirred slightly.

The legacy of an ancient powerful being?

Qiu Ruofeng continued, “Fellow Daoist, do you know the origin of this Dark Abyss?”

Lu Qing shook his head.

Qiu Ruofeng said, “According to the investigations of our Netherworld Palace’s successive Supreme Elders, this Dark Abyss is very likely a remnant of an ancient battlefield. The level of that battle was extremely high, and the two sides were beings far beyond the Transformation Realm.”

Far beyond the Transformation Realm.

Lu Qing couldn’t help but recall the great battle he had witnessed deep within the world’s origin.

The two figures, one black and one white, treading on galaxies, shattering countless stars with a mere gesture, and the three blood-red figures that suddenly appeared…

that power was indeed far beyond the Transformation Realm.

“And that fallen ancient powerhouse perished in that battle,” Qiu Ruofeng said. “His legacy is hidden somewhere in this Dark Abyss.”

Lu Qing was silent for a moment, then asked, “How do you know there is a legacy?”

Qiu Ruofeng smiled, took something from his robes, and handed it to Lu Qing.

It was a fragmented jade slip, pure white, emitting a faint glow.

Lu Qing took the jade slip and probed it with his divine sense.

A moment later, he raised his head, a strange light flashing in his eyes.

The jade slip contained an extremely profound cultivation technique.

This technique was vast and boundless, far surpassing any technique he had ever seen. Moreover, judging from the residual aura within the jade slip, the person who left it behind possessed unimaginably high cultivation.

But what intrigued him even more were the incomplete runes on the jade slip.

Those runes bore a striking resemblance to the runes he had seen on the broken jade deep within the world’s origin.

“This jade slip…” Lu Qing looked at Qiu Ruofeng.

Qiu Ruofeng said, “This jade slip was obtained by chance by one of our Netherworld Palace’s Supreme Elders in this Demon Abyss. Unfortunately, he didn’t come out alive; he only managed to send this jade slip out using a secret method before his death.”

He paused, then continued, “From this jade slip, we learned that the fallen ancient powerhouse was named ‘Xuanhua’.”

Xuanhua!

Lu Qing’s pupils constricted slightly.

He was all too familiar with that name.

Back in the illusion of the shattered jade, the white figure was the one the black figure called “Xuanhua”!

That white figure holding the jade ruyi was actually the “ancient powerhouse” Qiu Ruofeng spoke of?

And he had fallen?

Lu Qing recalled the end of the illusion, where Xuanhua was severely injured and fled, pursued by Mo Tian and the three blood-red figures.

Could it be that he ultimately couldn’t escape and perished here?

“Fellow Daoist Lu?” Qiu Ruofeng noticed his unusual expression and asked softly, “Do you know something?”

Lu Qing snapped out of his reverie and shook his head: “Nothing, I just felt the name sounded familiar.”

He didn’t tell the truth.

Some things weren’t meant to be said yet.

Qiu Ruofeng didn’t press further, and continued, “Over the years, we’ve been searching for the inheritance of a Xuanhua master. Our efforts have finally paid off, and we’ve found a clue.”
