Chapter 8: Doctor Chen, a surprising discovery

Lu Qing’s mind conjured up the image of a thin, kind-looking old man.

Old Doctor Chen.

This old doctor was the only physician in several nearby villages.

His medical skills were exceptional. While he couldn’t bring back the sick, he could cure common headaches, fevers, injuries, colds, and flu-like illnesses. He

was therefore highly respected by the nearby villagers.

It was said that even the town’s wealthy families frequently sought him out.

Such a figure undoubtedly held a special place in the village.

Few villagers dared to disrespect him.

The original owner had been a naive teenager with limited horizons and little understanding of many things.

But Lu Qing pondered this and discovered something unusual.

For example, from his memory, Old Doctor Chen must have been quite old, yet he was in excellent health, often traveling alone into the mountains to gather herbs.

You have to understand that the mountains of this world weren’t the developed tourist attractions of his previous life.

They were truly towering peaks and pristine forests.

There are countless poisonous insects, snakes, jackals, tigers and ferocious beasts in there. It is very dangerous.

Even experienced hunters dare not go too deep into the mountains and forests.

It is unusual for Doctor Chen, an old man, to be able to enter and exit these places safely.

Lu Qing is very curious about his ability.

It would be great if he could learn some of Doctor Chen’s medical skills.

His special ability can see through the basic information of all things.

It is absolutely foolproof when used to identify medicinal materials.

It is a perfect match with medical skills.

If he can learn some of Doctor Chen’s skills, then his and Xiaoyan’s future life will be more secure.

But how can he learn skills from Doctor Chen?

Lu Qing thought to himself, but his eyelids couldn’t help but start to fight.

After all, his body was weak and the fatigue was not something he could resist with his will.

In the end, before falling asleep, Lu Qing couldn’t think of any good solution.

However, what Lu Qing didn’t expect was that before he could figure out how to approach Doctor Chen, Doctor Chen showed up on his own.

Lu Qing fell asleep while lying on the recliner. In a daze, he seemed to hear someone talking, and then he felt someone grabbing his hand.

He woke up suddenly.

“Lu Qing, you’re awake, Doctor Chen is treating you!”

A loud voice rang out.

Lu Qing felt familiar with it, as if it was Uncle Zhang from next door, and he felt relieved at first.

Then, he woke up again and opened his eyes.

Doctor Chen?

Turning his head, he saw two old men standing next to him, one standing and the other sitting.

The one sitting was thin and had a kind face. Who else could it be but Doctor Chen?

“Don’t move, I’ll take your pulse first.”

Doctor Chen said gently when he saw Lu Qing seemed to be getting up.

Lu Qing didn’t dare to move.

Only then did he realize that Doctor Chen’s hand was on his wrist.

No wonder he felt someone grabbing his hand in a trance just now. It turned out to be Doctor Chen who was taking his pulse.

Seeing that Doctor Chen closed his eyes again to take his pulse, Lu Qing did not dare to move and could only continue to lie on the recliner.

Feeling that it would take a while to finish the pulse diagnosis, Lu Qing could not help but look at this somewhat mysterious Doctor Chen in his spare time.

At first glance, the old doctor seemed to be more gentle than he had imagined. His thin figure gave him a sense of immortality

. Just by looking at him, one could feel at ease.

However, at this moment, his face was solemn and his brows were furrowed, as if he had encountered some difficulties.

Lu Qing quietly looked at Doctor Chen for a while, and suddenly, he saw a faint red light appear on the old doctor’s body.

[Chen Songqing: A good old doctor with superb medical skills, kind heart, and respected.]

[Cultivation: Successful in Qi training, acquired internal and external realm.]

What is this? !

Lu Qing’s eyes suddenly widened, not only because of the faint red light appearing on the old doctor’s body, but also because of the description on the note behind it.

In the time since waking, Lu Qing had gradually figured out some of the patterns of his supernatural powers.

Ordinary objects, when examined by his supernatural powers, typically emitted a grayish glow.

More special objects, such as medicinal herbs, would appear white.

But humans, without exception, all emitted a white glow, at least for everyone he met in the village.

The intensity of the white glow varied, though: adults were strongest, followed by children, and then the elderly.

Lu Qing speculated that this might be related to a person’s energy or vitality.

Generally speaking, adults have the most energy, while the elderly have the least.

However, the manifestation of Doctor Chen overturned his understanding.

A red glow, unprecedented in appearance, appeared!

More importantly, the contents of the note that appeared behind it.

Cultivation?

Successful Qi training, the acquired internal organs realm?

What did this mean? Could it be that the world he inhabited wasn’t the ancient Chinese world he’d imagined, but something far more mysterious, a world where cultivation could flourish?

Lu Qing’s mind was shaken by this sudden change.

Just as he was about to continue observing and gain more information from the old doctor, Doctor Chen suddenly opened his eyes.

Seeing Lu Qing’s panicked and shocked expression, his brow furrowed for a moment, then relaxed. He

gently soothed, “Don’t be afraid, I’m just taking your pulse.”

However, he misunderstood, believing his own cautiousness in taking Lu Qing’s pulse had frightened him.

Lu Qing seized the opportunity to control his emotions and asked, somewhat anxiously, “Grandpa Chen, how is my illness progressing? Am I fully recovered?”

Uncle Zhang, standing nearby, also looked at Doctor Chen hopefully.

Doctor Chen paused for a moment before saying, “Yes, you are fully recovered. You’re still a little weak, but with proper care, you should be mostly fine.”

“Really? That’s wonderful, Lu Qing! Why don’t you thank Doctor Chen right away? If it weren’t for the medicine you prescribed, you might not even wake up!” Uncle Zhang exclaimed joyfully.

“Thank you, Grandpa Chen,”

Lu Qing climbed from his recliner and made a gesture to kneel and kowtow.

After all, the old doctor had indeed saved his life.

If it weren’t for that bowl of medicine, he might not have survived the period of memory fusion.

For this alone, he was worthy of his admiration.

But Doctor Chen stopped Lu Qing, “Don’t be so. Your awakening is your own good fortune. I, an old man, have only done my little bit.”

Doctor Chen’s words weren’t meant to be modest.

In fact, he was still deeply surprised.

He had indeed visited Lu Qing when he fell ill.

At that time, Lu Qing was suffering from a chill that had penetrated his bones, and his breath was weak. He was terminally ill

, on the verge of death. Even a true medical master would have been unable to save him.

With a compassionate heart, he finally prescribed a medicine and added a number of precious herbs.

His goal was simply to do his part and leave the rest to fate.

Some of the herbs he added had been pre-ordered by prominent figures in the city.

To this end, he had to rush into the mountains the next day to collect herbs to fill the gaps.

I thought Lu Qing would not make it through this, but when he came back from collecting herbs, he heard rumors among the villagers that Lu Qing’s illness had healed.

Not only could he get out of bed and walk, he could even go to the river to catch fish.

Surprised, he didn’t care about anything else and wanted to go to the house to see what was going on. When he

came to the outside of the yard, he happened to meet Uncle Zhang who had just returned from working in the fields, so the two of them went into the house together.

I originally thought that the villagers’ words were exaggerated.

Now after he finished taking Lu Qing’s pulse, he found that the villagers were not lying at all.

Lu Qing’s illness was really cured.

Except for being a little weak, all the previous symptoms had disappeared.

This surprised Doctor Chen.
