Chapter 610 Ancient Mural, Deadly White Light

When Lu Qing took in his surroundings, he found himself in an immense space.

It resembled a large hall, deserted and empty. Majestic walls surrounded the hall, the floor paved with massive, ancient stones. Thousands of feet above, the ceiling rose.

The entire hall was filled with an air of antiquity.

But what most caught Lu Qing’s attention were the numerous murals carved into the surrounding walls.

These murals were equally massive, depicting figures.

Each figure towered a thousand feet tall, and Lu Qing, standing before them, seemed as small as an ant.

Furthermore, each figure’s features were blurred, as if shrouded in mist, obscuring their true appearance.

However, their forms were distinct, strikingly different from those of humans, clearly not ordinary beings. The more

Lu Qing tried to see more clearly, the thicker the mist grew, until even the figures began to blur.

It seemed as if some principle prevented him from seeing the figures’ true appearances and exploring the stone carvings.

This, however, only intensified Lu Qing’s interest.

He immediately activated his supernatural power and gazed at one of the murals.

Before long, a note emerged from the mural.

[Witch Stone Carving: A stone carving inscribed by a powerful ancient Wu Clan.]

[This stone carving records ancient events of the ancient Wu Clan.]

[The stone carving has been imbued with the power of laws by the powerful being. Unless one reaches a certain level, the true appearance of the figures in the carving cannot be seen clearly.]

…

After reading the notes, Lu Qing felt a wave of disappointment.

He had thought that these murals, with their mystical appearance, held some secrets or inheritance.

Turns out, they were just ordinary murals, simply recording the deeds of the ancient Wu Clan.

As expected, not every item left behind by a powerful being contains a legacy.

After understanding the mystery of these murals, Lu Qing’s interest waned.

However, he continued to examine them.

Although the murals were shrouded in mystery, as he examined them, he was able to discern some details.

The murals likely recorded the origins of the Wu Clan, seemingly pre-existing from a time when the world was still in chaos and evolution.

Later, the Wu Clan emerged. Their immense power brought them to dominance, conquering countless territories and enslaving countless beings.

Unwilling to accept this oppression, some beings rose in rebellion, culminating in the great Daoist-Witch War.

Following this war, the Wu Clan declined, while the Dao Clan rose and overran the Wu Clan’s territory.

The mural abruptly ended here.

Furthermore, fog obscured many scenes, obscuring them and leaving Lu Qing with only a general idea.

Even if he could have seen them clearly, Lu Qing wouldn’t have considered the story completely accurate.

This mural was left by a powerful Wu Clan figure, and the narrative within it was inevitably biased towards the Wu Clan.

Who knows how much of the content was subjectively embellished by that figure?

So, he simply dismissed it as a story and didn’t take it too seriously.

After all, it happened in the distant past, untold millions of years ago.

Even the Wu Clan had vanished without a trace, and it was unclear whether they had been annihilated.

Glancing around, the vast space was deserted, and he wondered where the people from other factions who had arrived earlier had gone.

Lu Qing began to walk through the hall. After a brief tour, he finally discovered the secret.

In the center of the hall, a large circle was engraved with teleportation runes, and faint ripples of spatial force were emanating from it.

“So, those experts have used the teleportation array to travel elsewhere?”

Lu Qing pondered. It seemed the true trial lay in another dimension.

He used his supernatural powers to examine the teleportation array on the ground, finding no danger. With confidence, he carried Xiao Li and stepped onto it.

The next moment, a light shone, and the familiar ripples of spatial force enveloped them. Lu Qing and Xiao Li vanished from the hall.

When they reappeared, they found themselves in another dimension.

“Hmm?”

As soon as he emerged, Lu Qing felt something unusual. His body suddenly sank, feeling incredibly heavy.

The gravity of this dimension was tens of times stronger than that of the secret realm outside.

He immediately activated the magnetic force of the earth’s veins, hoping to alleviate the gravity, but found it to be futile.

The heaviness of this space seemed to stem from a fundamental principle, and could not be dissipated by the magnetic force of the earth’s veins alone.

Understanding this, Lu Qing stopped trying.

Fortunately, both he and Xiao Li’s bodies were strong enough that the gravity, tens of times greater than theirs, did not pose much of a problem for them.

“Xiao Li, do you feel anything?”

Lu Qing asked casually, surveying his surroundings.

“Not yet,” Xiao Li shook his head.

“Are there any treasures nearby?”

Lu Qing realized they were now in a small, world-like space.

Surrounding them was the vast expanse of land, but no living creatures were visible. Thousands of miles away, a mountain towered like a pillar to the heavens.

“Looks like we can only go that way.”

Lu Qing, holding Xiao Li in his arms, used his body movements to move towards the distant peak.

This movement gave Lu Qing another sense of difference.

If he used Taoist magic to travel, the mana consumed per breath would be dozens of times greater than in the outer secret realm.

Traveling within the secret realm is already extremely mana-intensive, and here it was even more so.

Even with his perfect golden elixir, such consumption would be a strain.

However, he also discovered that using physical strength wasn’t as drastic.

Immediately, Lu Qing restrained his mana, mobilizing only his physical strength to travel.

While this would slow him down, the energy consumption was significantly reduced.

Boom!

With one foot striking the ground, propelled by a powerful force, Lu Qing’s figure left a trail of afterimages as he swiftly headed towards Tongtian Mountain.

After running for hundreds of miles, he suddenly paused.

Not far ahead, he saw a dozen or so people sitting cross-legged on the ground, regulating their breathing.

However, their faces were unfamiliar, and Lu Qing had no idea which faction they belonged to.

“It’s him?!”

The dozen or so people, sensing the movement as well, opened their eyes and were all startled.

Lu Qing didn’t recognize them, but they were very familiar with him.

A few days ago, he had hunted nearly a hundred Jindan-level beasts in a row, and then single-handedly suppressed dozens of elite disciples from several major sects, such as the Lanhai Sect and the Xuanyuan Sect. The scene was still fresh in their minds.

Seeing such a ferocious deity approaching from behind them, the dozen or so people were shocked and extremely vigilant.

They had witnessed Lu Qing robbing Yu Dahai and his men that day. They

were afraid that Lu Qing would get upset and rob them as well.

However, they were obviously overthinking it. Lu Qing had no interest in attacking them at all.

After just a few glances at them, he stepped on the ground and set off again, passing them and rushing forward at a rapid speed.

Seeing that Lu Qing didn’t attack them, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

Then, they looked at Lu Qing’s rapidly receding figure with expressions of admiration.

“I didn’t expect this person to enter the ancient tower. As expected, he has the strength to break into the tower alone.”

“Honestly, it’s strange that he only came in now. He obviously has such strength, why would he waste his time on those strange beasts?”

“It seems that those strange beasts are indeed hiding a huge secret, but it’s a pity that we are unable to decipher it.”

“It’s good to have a strong body. It consumes too much mana to travel in this space. It took us a whole day to get here. Judging by this person’s speed, he can reach Tongtian Mountain in less than half a day.”

“It can’t be helped. We don’t have many spirit stones and elixirs left. We’d rather slow down than use them all here. Otherwise, without the support of mana, the heaviness of this space alone will be enough to make it difficult for us to move forward.”

“Indeed, it’s better to be steady and ensure sufficient mana.”

The crowd discussed for a while, and Lu Qing’s figure had long disappeared. They were just about to continue regulating their breathing.

Suddenly, one of them looked at him, “Did you sense anything?”

“Lao Mo, what did you say?”

The others looked at him, but the next moment, their expressions changed, and they all looked down.

They sensed a sinister aura rising from the ground.

Before they could react, the ground suddenly cracked, and a streak of white light flashed across Lao Mo’s body.

Then they saw Lao Mo’s expression freeze, and the vital energy within him rapidly vanished.

His entire body split in two, falling to the ground. The smell of blood instantly filled the air.

“What the hell?!”

Everyone was horrified, immediately summoning their magic weapons to protect themselves.

At this moment, no one dared to talk about conserving mana anymore, and they all watched the movement below in panic.

Lao Mo, a powerful cultivator at the sixth level of the Golden Core Realm, had been annihilated by the white light in an instant, killing him instantly.

What was the origin of that white light?

However, no matter how hard they tried to sense it, they could not determine what was happening underground.

They sensed a sinister aura swiftly moving beneath the ground, at an incredible speed.

Swish!

Just as everyone was on guard, the ground cracked, and another streak of white light shot out from the ground, hurtling towards another Jindan realm cultivator.

“Go!”

This time, having been prepared, the Jindan realm cultivator reacted.

With his mind impelled, he swiftly launched his painstakingly refined magical flying sword at the white light.

Ding!

The flying sword accurately struck the white light, and with a crisp sound, the light instantly flew backwards, finally lingering in the air.

Only then did everyone finally see the true form of the white light.

And then, everyone was stunned.

“Is this a mantis?”

It was indeed a strange beast resembling a mantis.

However, it was as long as a human arm and far more ferocious than the average mantis.

Especially its blade-like legs, incredibly long, radiating a chilling cold light. Just looking at it was enough to make one’s soul feel as if it were being cleaved.

Seeing this scene, everyone understood clearly that the white light they had just seen was the mantis beast’s blade-like feet.

“Kill this beast! Avenge Old Mo!”

After understanding the white light’s true nature, everyone erupted in fury.

This mantis beast, only at the initial stage of the Golden Core Realm, had actually ambushed and killed one of their companions. How could they not be furious?

Immediately, over a dozen Golden Core Realm experts unleashed their Taoist magic and wielded their magical weapons, attacking the mantis beast.

Facing so many attacks, the mantis beast, despite its best efforts to dodge, was unable to completely avoid them.

In the end, even its sturdy body was ripped to shreds by the angry Golden Core Realm attacks. With a scream, it was completely annihilated.

“What bad luck! As expected, this space still holds dangers. We were careless just now. Old Mo’s death was unjust,”

a late Golden Core Realm expert said with some sorrow, looking at Old Mo’s corpse.

The others fell silent as well.

They had already been in this space for a full day.

They had been traveling all day, encountering no living creatures along the way. This

had led them to believe that this dimension was safe from danger.

Unexpectedly, just one carelessness cost Lao Mo his life.

“Well, now’s not the time to mourn. Since Lao Mo came here to explore, he should have been prepared for death. Collect his body and continue on our journey,”

said the late Jindan realm cultivator.

The others, upon hearing

this, also calmed down. Having reached their level of cultivation, they had witnessed many deaths and deaths.

The death of a companion was certainly heartbreaking, but it wasn’t enough to cause them to retreat.

Just as they were about to help collect Lao Mo’s body, their expressions changed again.

They all suddenly sensed a surge of murderous intent from deep underground, charging towards them at breakneck speed.

“Oh no! That mantis beast has companions. Its screams just now were a call to them! Run!”

the late Jindan realm cultivator suddenly realized and shouted.

At the same time, he activated his magic weapon and quickly dodged to the side.

The others did the same, completely ignoring Lao Mo’s body. They all desperately activated their magic weapons and Taoist spells and fled in all directions.

Just as they moved aside, the ground they had been standing on exploded with a bang, stretching dozens of feet in radius. A flood of white light surged out, slicing through everything around them.

Old Mo’s corpse was instantly shredded, leaving not a trace.

After shredding Old Mo’s corpse, the white light immediately charged towards the other Jindan realm experts.

“It’s over!”

The late Jindan realm expert looked back. At least hundreds of white lights shot forth from the ground

, with dozens more chasing him. A look of despair instantly crossed his face.

“Xiao Li, what’s wrong?”

Lu Qing, who was hurrying along, suddenly felt Xiao Li climb onto his shoulder and peer behind him.

“I have a bad feeling coming from behind,” Xiao Li said, tilting his head.

“A bad feeling?”

Lu Qing also sensed it.

However, due to the unique nature of this space, their spiritual sensing range was greatly reduced, so he couldn’t detect anything.

“Did something happen to those people we met earlier?” Lu Qing speculated.

But after a moment’s thought, he decided not to return.

Since he had dared to break into the tower, he should

accept whatever happened to him. He was not a pushover, but he had no interest in intervening in everything.

Besides, he had already run a hundred miles away. If something really happened, it would be too late to rush back.

So after a moment of hesitation, Lu Qing continued forward.

He ran all the way to the Tongtian Mountain. After about an hour, Lu Qing finally arrived near the foot of the mountain.
