I Can See Through Everything - Chapter 32

Chapter 32 Cooking and Planning
In the Lu family’s kitchen,
Lu Qing was lighting a fire, and a brand new iron pot was placed on the stove.
Lu Qing had originally planned to carry this iron pot home in a low-key manner when it got dark.
But then he thought, they were all from the same village, how low-key could he be?
Even if he secretly brought the pot home, he still couldn’t hide it when he started cooking.
After all, the aroma of cooking is still far different from the smell of steaming, and he couldn’t block the kitchen to prevent the smell from escaping.
So he simply carried the pot back openly.
This naturally caused a small sensation in the village.
This was an iron pot, which was a luxury for the villagers.
Even now, there are still some families in the village who can’t afford iron pots.
How could Lu Qing not attract everyone’s attention by carrying such a big iron pot back?
Lu Qing directly claimed that the iron pot was given to him by Doctor Chen, which made the villagers envious and jealous.
At the same time, they were also amazed at the generosity of the old doctor.
An iron pot was worth several taels of silver, and the old doctor had given it to Lu Qing without hesitation. He was truly kind to Lu Qing.
This also convinced everyone that the old doctor truly considered Lu Qing his disciple, someone he held in high regard.
Otherwise, why would he have gifted Lu Qing such a large iron pot?
It was common knowledge that disciples should honor their masters, but it was unheard of for a master to gift such a valuable gift. It was only natural
that the master truly doted on his disciple.
Seeing the pot already cooked further confirmed everyone’s suspicions.
Thinking back to the villagers’ onlookers, Lu Qing felt a sense of relief.
Fortunately, he had had the foresight to temporarily leave the silver with Old Doctor Chen and only take two small pieces back with him.
Otherwise, such a large bag of silver would have been unnoticed.
If a curious person had opened the bag while he wasn’t paying attention, it would have been troublesome.
The fire started, and soon, the pot began to smoke.
Lu Qing took the oil jar and scooped a large spoonful of lard into it.
Watching the lard melt in the pot, he felt a sense of relief.
Now that he has money, he no longer has to be stingy with oil.
Every time he cooked before, he had to think about how to use the least amount of oil and make dishes that are not bad, which was really too difficult for him.
With a happy mood, Lu Qing quickly prepared two dishes and a soup.
A fried fish, a fish soup, and a stir-fried vegetable.
Although limited by the seasoning, these three dishes still seem simple.
But when Lu Qing took the first bite of the stir-fried dish, he was still moved to the point of wanting to cry.
It was not easy, and this taste was what he had dreamed of for a long time.
“Brother, the dishes made in the big iron pot are so delicious!”
On the other side, Xiaoyan was also eating happily.
Even though she usually doesn’t like to eat vegetables, she now thinks that vegetables are particularly delicious.
“Of course, this big iron pot is a great tool for cooking. Otherwise, why would brother always want a big iron pot?”
“Big iron pots are great~”
The brother and sister enjoyed the meal with great relish.
All the food was eaten up, not even the soup was left.
After eating, Xiaoyan touched her slightly bulging belly, a look of satisfaction on her face.
“Brother, let’s cook in a big iron pot from now on?”
“Okay.”
Lu Qing nodded without hesitation.
Isn’t that why he insisted on buying an iron pot?
But you don’t have to eat stir-fried dishes for every meal. No matter how delicious the food is, you will get tired of it after a while.
It’s not bad to try other dishes occasionally.
After dinner, Lu Qing read for a while.
When it got dark, he put the book away.
He moved the old recliner out to the yard, lay on it, and looked at the sunset in the distance.
He seemed to be in a trance, but in fact he was thinking.
He was thinking about what Da’an had said before, about the big market.
After he squandered the oil at home tonight, there was really very little left and it had to be replenished.
There were some other things he wanted to buy that he couldn’t quite get the old doctor to help him with.
Plus, it was time to return the things he’d borrowed from the villagers.
So, he had to go to the fair.
“Let’s go tomorrow. Da’an said there are some rules to follow at the fair, and I can ask him tomorrow.”
Lu Qing made a quick decision.
“Brother, will the little beast come to our house tonight?”
Xiaoyan suddenly asked.
“I think so,” Lu Qing said, unsure.
“Then Xiaoyan will wait for it tonight.”
The little girl was incredibly curious about the little beast her brother had mentioned, eager to know what it looked like.
“That’s fine, but if it doesn’t come by late, you better get some sleep,” Lu Qing said.
“Okay.”
Xiaoyan immediately decided to stay alert tonight and wait for the little beast to arrive.
Unfortunately, the child’s willpower was still a little limited.
Xiaoyan, who usually went to bed early, felt her eyelids grow heavy at the appointed time.
Even with the presence of the Green Turtle Stone, the little creature managed to hold out for a while, but it didn’t last long before falling asleep.
Shortly after Xiaoyan fell asleep, Lu Qing heard the familiar scratching at the door.
He was startled.
Could this little creature have deliberately waited for Xiaoyan to fall asleep before appearing?
Holding the fish he had prepared, Lu Qing opened the door.
Sure enough, he saw the black creature.
This time, the creature had retreated to the center of the yard, but it looked noticeably more relaxed.
It no longer had the same wary look as before.
He didn’t even know if it was an illusion, but he seemed to see a hint of anticipation in its eyes when it saw him emerge.
Could this creature really be a spirit?
Lu Qing muttered to himself, placing the fish on the ground and backing away.
As soon as he reached the door, the black creature immediately approached, snatched up a fish, and ran away.
Well, a little less vigilant, but only slightly.
Lu Qing couldn’t help but laugh as he watched the little black beast, just like last night, gobbling up a fish and running back and forth.
He didn’t bother to pay attention to it, so he closed the door, yawned, and headed back to his room.
He had a lot to do tomorrow, so he didn’t have time to play with the little creature.
A silent night passed.
When Lu Qing woke up the next morning, he saw the wooden basin was empty again.
He didn’t know how the little creature managed to digest the food. Although it looked small, its appetite was astonishing.
It easily devoured two or three pounds of fish, more than an adult.
“Brother, did the little beast come last night?”
Xiaoyan woke up and immediately ran out of the room to ask.
“Yes, look, it ate all the fish in the basin.”
Lu Qing pointed at the wooden basin.
“Ah! Brother, why didn’t you wake Xiaoyan!” The little creature was annoyed.
“I told you I wouldn’t wake you if you fell asleep.”
“Brother, Xiaoyan decided not to sleep tonight and wait until the little beast comes!” the little creature said seriously.
“Okay, keep going.” Lu Qing said without any concern.
He was now certain that the Green Turtle Stone was indeed magical.
With it, Xiaoyan couldn’t stay up late even if she wanted to.
When the time came, she would definitely feel sleepy and go to bed obediently.
It really saved him a lot of trouble.
“Xiaoyan, why don’t you go to Grandpa Zhang’s house to play today? I have to go out for something.”
“Where is I going?”
“You’ll know when I come back.”
After asking Grandpa Zhang to help look after Xiaoyan next door, Lu Qing put a piece of silver in his pocket and walked towards Wang Da’an’s house.
