I Can See Through Everything - Chapter 30

Chapter 30: Unknown
That night, Lu Qing finally had a good sleep.
The next morning, after breakfast, he took Xiaoyan to the river to fish.
This time when fishing, he saw that there were fewer people by the river. There was no longer the grand scene of seven or eight people crowding into one fishing spot.
After all, it was the busy farming season recently, and there was still a lot of work to do in the fields, so it was impossible to fish every day.
Fishing was just a pastime after all, and at most it could only improve the diet occasionally. It was not as important as the food in the fields, which was the lifeblood of the farmers.
This time, Lu Qing did not go to the strange fish fishing spot.
It was okay to catch strange fish occasionally.
If you caught a few every few days, even a fool would know that something was wrong.
And even if he caught a strange fish now, he had no place to deal with it. He
couldn’t ask Dr. Chen to help sell it every time.
As for eating it, he couldn’t bear to eat it.
Ever since he knew the value of the strange fish, Lu Qing planned to use it as an important source of income.
So he planned to go fishing for strange fish after a period of time, or after he had a certain level of self-protection ability.
Lu Qing chose another white-light fishing spot he’d discovered during his first visit to the river.
After repairing the spot, Lu Qing began fishing.
Compared to his previous two trips, this time, his fishing was calmer.
Within an hour, he’d caught half a bucket of fish.
They ranged in size. The largest was a grass carp weighing two or three pounds, while the smallest was still a small whitefish.
With half a bucket of fish in hand, Lu Qing began to pack up his line.
These fish should be enough for the Night Spirit Cat to eat for several nights.
After returning home with the fish siblings and waiting for Xiaoyan to fall asleep, Lu Qing heard the familiar scratching sound at the door again.
This time, he remained calm. He retrieved the fish he’d prepared from the kitchen and calmly opened the door.
Upon opening the door, he saw the small black creature standing in the middle of the yard.
This time, however, its mood was noticeably calmer.
While its eyes still held a wary look, it wasn’t as frayed as it had been the night before.
“I’ve been waiting for you,”
Lu Qing smiled, trying to sound as calm and friendly as possible.
He then pulled out a wooden basin containing fish and slowly walked toward the yard.
Seeing him emerge, the black beast quickly took a few steps back, uttering a warning sound.
Lu Qing stopped immediately. “Don’t be nervous, I mean no harm.”
He gently placed the basin on the ground and slowly backed away.
By the time he had retreated back into the house, the black beast had calmed down. Its snout twitched a few times, and in a flash, it had darted over to the basin.
The next moment, it had vanished with the largest fish in its mouth, its whereabouts unknown.
Lu Qing wasn’t surprised; he quietly waited inside the door.
Sure enough, a moment later, the beast reappeared in the yard, snatching up another fish and disappearing.
The little creature was quite alert.
Lu Qing smiled, not interested in watching a wild animal eat.
There were quite a few small fish in the bucket, and it was impossible to tell how long it would take for the beast to keep running back and forth to eat. He didn’t want to wait any longer.
Lu Qing closed the door and returned to his room, feeling completely relaxed.
This was a perfect solution.
Although he had to pay with some fish, for him who loved fishing, that little fish was nothing.
Anyway, every time he went fishing, he would catch so much that he couldn’t eat it all.
It wouldn’t be a bad thing to have this Night Lizard to help consume it.
Just like in the old days in the countryside, when there were leftovers and bones at home that couldn’t be eaten up, he would raise a cat or a dog to consume them.
With a relaxed mood, Lu Qing slept well again that night.
When he got up early the next morning, he went to the yard and saw that the wooden basin was empty.
More than two kilograms of fish were all eaten up. That little thing had a big appetite.
After washing the wooden basin and putting it away, Lu Qing began to make breakfast.
After eating with Xiaoyan, he prepared to go to Dr. Chen.
Lu Qing took Xiaoyan out with him, carrying more than a pound of freshly slaughtered small fish.
Last time, the old doctor said that he liked to eat small fish, and it happened that he caught a lot of them yesterday, so he took some with him.
Walking on the path up the mountain, Lu Qing’s face showed a hint of anticipation.
The old doctor went to the city yesterday, and he helped him sell the red moon carp, but he didn’t know how the result would be.
Although the old doctor said that the red moon carp was a rare and precious fish that was in short supply, and it would not be difficult to sell it.
But before he saw the silver, he was still a little nervous.
When they arrived at the small courtyard halfway up the mountain, Lu Qing saw that the old doctor Chen had just finished his morning exercise.
“Grandpa Chen!” Xiaoyan ran up.
“Xiaoyan, I haven’t seen you for a day. Do you miss your grandpa?”
The old doctor picked up the little girl.
“Yes~” Xiaoyan replied sweetly.
“Hahaha…”
“Hello, Grandpa Chen.” Lu Qing also stepped forward to say hello.
“Well, you look good today. How come that wild beast didn’t come to bother you again?”
In the old doctor’s opinion, his powder has always been very effective. No matter what kind of wild beast it is, it will retreat when it smells it.
He gave Lu Qing such a big bag. Even if a tiger or leopard came, it would not be willing to get close.
A mere unknown wild beast would probably be no exception.
However, Lu Qing showed a hint of embarrassment at this time.
“Grandpa Chen, the powder doesn’t seem to be very effective. The wild beast came to my house these two nights.”
“Oh, how could it be?” Old Doctor Chen was surprised.
“I don’t know what’s going on. It seems that the thing is not afraid of the powder.” Lu Qing answered truthfully.
“Then how did you make it retreat?”
The old doctor looked at Lu Qing’s complexion again, and was sure that he was not wrong. Lu Qing did not look like he had stayed up all night.
“I didn’t use any special tricks. I noticed that creature seemed to be coming for our fish, so I threw some fish to it, and it ate it and left.”
“It likes to eat fish?” The old doctor pondered. “What did the beast look like? Did you see it clearly?”
“It was a small black beast, about two feet long, completely black, but its four claws and neck were white. Grandpa Chen, do you know what kind of beast it is?”
“A two-foot-long black beast?” The old doctor thought for a moment and shook his head. “I’ve traveled all over the country for so many years, and I’ve never seen a beast like this.”
“Even Grandpa Chen, you don’t recognize it?” Lu Qing was a little surprised.
“You’re right,” the old doctor laughed. “The world is so vast and boundless, and there are countless living things. Although I’ve traveled for decades, the places I’ve visited are just a small part of this vast world. Isn’t it normal to not recognize creatures?”
“Grandpa Chen is right.” Lu Qing nodded.
He had originally hoped to get more information about the Night Spirit Raccoon from the old doctor, but it looked like his plan was in vain.
“But as you said, that little beast seems quite intelligent. Since it has no intention of attacking anyone and is just seeking a meal, there’s no need to think about expelling it for now.”
The old doctor was knowledgeable and knew that some creatures in this world were very special.
From what Lu Qing had described, it was very likely that the little black beast was the same.
“I thought so too. We can’t finish all the fish at home anyway, so it wouldn’t hurt to share some with it,” Lu Qing said with a smile.
Even if he were asked to expel it, he wouldn’t dare.
That guy is really powerful!
Xiaoyan listened for a long time and finally understood a little of what the two were talking about.
Her eyes suddenly lit up: “Brother, next time when you feed the little beast fish, can you let Xiaoyan see it too?”
“That’s probably a little difficult.” Lu Qing said, “It seems that it only comes after you fall asleep.”
“Why?” The little guy felt a little aggrieved, “Does it hate Xiaoyan?”
“I don’t know about that. Maybe the little beast is timid. Once it gets familiar with us, it should be willing to see you.”
“Then brother, please get along with it quickly. Xiaoyan also wants to see what the little beast looks like.” Xiaoyan said expectantly.
“I’ll try my best.”
What could Lu Qing say but nodded in agreement.
“By the way, Grandpa Chen, this is for you. I caught some small fish yesterday. Didn’t you say you wanted to eat some last time? I wonder if this is enough?”
Lu Qing handed the prepared fresh fish to the old doctor.
The old doctor took a look and was quite satisfied: “Put it in there. It just so happens that I bought the things you asked me to help buy and put them in the house.”
