I Can See Through Everything - Chapter 29
Chapter 29 Red Light Spirit Beast
When Lu Qing heard the familiar scratching at the door, he could hardly believe his ears.
Didn’t Doctor Chen say that his powder was so effective that even jackals would retreat if they smelled it?
Why did this guy come again?
Lu Qing was a little overwhelmed.
Could he not sleep tonight again?
This was not a solution. If he didn’t get this thing resolved, he would probably have trouble sleeping in the future. After
two consecutive nights of sleeplessness, Lu Qing’s temper was a bit irritable.
He wanted to see what was so bold.
Lu Qing tiptoed to the door with a stick by the bed. Suddenly, he pulled the latch and opened the door.
This sudden movement obviously startled the thing outside.
A dark shadow instantly rushed out of the yard.
Since awakening his supernatural powers, Lu Qing’s eyes had actually undergone some subtle changes.
First, his eyesight had become very good. He could see objects clearly even from a distance.
Secondly, he was also very sensitive to light.
While he couldn’t yet see in the dark, he could see about 80% of things clearly with just a little light.
Now, with the bright moonlight in the sky, Lu Qing could clearly see what had been bothering him for the past two nights.
It was a small black creature.
Two feet long, it resembled a cat and a leopard, with two large eyes like lightbulbs.
Its fur was fluffy, its tail erect, and its limbs crouched low, its fur rippling as it stared warily at Lu Qing.
Seeing the creature clearly, Lu Qing
felt a sense of relief. Fortunately, it didn’t look large or ferocious.
After all, someone who had been so frightened by him banging on the door last night that they didn’t come back for the whole night couldn’t be very brave.
For some reason, this time the black creature didn’t flee, but remained crouched, watching Lu Qing.
Lu Qing faced it quietly, not rushing to drive it away.
He wanted to use his supernatural powers to gather information about the little beast before making a decision.
Lu Qing tried to remain calm, his gaze fixed on the creature.
However, his eyes quickly widened.
A faint red glow emanated from the mysterious creature.
[Night Spirit Cat: Mountain Spirit Beast, Juvenile, Female.]
[Extremely fast, with claws sharp enough to shatter stone and crack gold.]
[Rumor has it that the Night Spirit Cat greatly enjoys eating fish, but naturally dislikes water, leaving it helpless to catch fish.]
A red-light-level beast?!
Lu Qing nearly jumped in shock.
The supernatural glow emanating from this mysterious little beast had actually reached the red-light level.
Wasn’t that the same level as Old Doctor Chen?
No wonder the powder hadn’t worked.
Taking a few deep breaths, Lu Qing tried to calm himself.
A sudden surge of relief welled up in his heart.
Fortunately, he hadn’t acted rashly. He
hadn’t expected this little creature to be a red-light-level spirit beast.
And what did the note that had appeared say?
Extremely fast! Its claws can break stones and split gold!
Such exaggerated lethality, even tigers and leopards may not be able to match it, right?
Fortunately, this little beast is timid, otherwise, he would probably be lying on the ground.
Quietly hiding the stick behind him, Lu Qing showed a harmless smile.
“Little guy, you come to me, do you want to eat fish?”
The black beast still looked at Lu Qing warily, as if he didn’t understand what he was saying.
Lu Qing didn’t expect a wild beast to understand what he said.
He moved his feet lightly, and while trying not to scare the black beast, he quickly took out two pieces of dried fish from the kitchen.
When Lu Qing appeared at the door with the fish, he clearly saw that the black beast’s eyes seemed to light up.
Sure enough, this guy was after the fish.
Lu Qing recalled the description on the third note.
He held the fish in front of him and shook it.
“I’m sorry I scared you just now. These two pieces of fish are my apology to you.”
The black beast’s eyes, like lightbulbs in the night, swayed left and right with the fish.
Seeing this, Lu Qing felt certain.
“Take it.”
He threw the fish into the yard, deliberately throwing it farther away from the black beast to avoid irritating it.
The fish fell to the ground, startling the beast and making it step back, staring at Lu Qing.
Lu Qing didn’t move, standing quietly there.
As if sensing Lu Qing had no intention of attacking, the black beast’s fur subsided a little.
It looked at the fish on the ground, its nose twitching a few times, and suddenly it moved.
Lu Qing only saw a black shadow pass by, and the next moment, the fish on the ground had disappeared.
Then, the beast’s figure also crossed the fence and quickly disappeared into the night fog.
After waiting quietly for a moment, and confirming the beast had left, Lu Qing closed the door and returned to his room.
Lying on his bed, Lu Qing’s heart could no longer be contained, beating wildly.
There was nothing he could do. What had just happened was truly terrifying.
The black beast might have seemed timid, but who knew if it were provoked, it might attack?
As the saying goes, even a rabbit bites when it’s cornered.
Besides, it wasn’t just a rabbit, but a powerful spirit beast!
Its claws were sharp enough to shatter stone and crack gold!
It could tear through even metal and stone, let alone flesh and blood.
So Lu Qing didn’t dare to provoke it.
Fortunately, the black beast was not only timid but also non-aggressive.
Otherwise, Lu Qing’s survival would have been uncertain.
“How come I’ve never heard of such a formidable beast before?”
After calming down, Lu Qing wondered.
Then he remembered the descriptions in the notes his supernatural powers had uncovered.
The beast seemed to be a juvenile. Could its parents be nearby?
That shouldn’t be the case. If its parents were nearby, they would have already come in droves.
Lu Qing hadn’t forgotten the note’s mention of this Night Spirit Cat’s love of fish.
Could it have migrated from somewhere else and been driven away by its parents, or perhaps something happened to them?
Lu Qing made several guesses, but none of them panned out.
However, he had a hunch that after tonight, the little black beast would likely come back again.
He had no basis for this feeling, but it was just that.
“Guess I can’t give up fishing,”
Lu Qing thought helplessly.
He had been planning to put fishing on hold for now and devote himself to his medical studies.
After all, once Old Doctor Chen sold the Red Moon Carp, he would have a considerable sum of money, enough to ensure he and Xiaoyan a comfortable life for a long time.
But now, with this little black beast hanging on to him, he had no choice but to change his plans.
It was a Red Light-level spirit beast, not one he could afford to provoke. For the time being, he could only appease it.
“What the hell is this!”
Lu Qing lamented.
