I Can See Through Everything - Chapter 21

Chapter 21 Goodbye, Doctor Chen (Please collect and read)
That night, Lu Qing slept very soundly and didn’t even dream.
Xiaoyan didn’t wake up in the middle of the night like usual and yell for him to comfort her.
Both the brother and sister slept well.
In fact, Lu Qing slept so soundly that Xiaoyan had to wake him up in the morning.
Sleepily, he helped Xiaoyan put on her coat, brushed her teeth and washed her face. After tying her hair into two small buns, Lu Qing began to wash himself.
Using a willow brush to clean his teeth intermittently, Lu Qing’s eyes were unfocused and casually fell on the house.
After brushing for a while, he suddenly felt something was wrong and his eyes gradually became focused.
He walked forward and looked at the two empty bamboo rings on the bamboo pole, his eyes gradually widened.
Good man, which wicked guy stole his two big pieces of fish?
Was it someone from the village?
This thought came to Lu Qing’s mind at the first moment.
But he quickly denied it.
Although the villagers are not rich now, no one is so poor as to steal two pieces of fish.
Yesterday, he wanted to treat everyone to fish, but everyone declined.
And if they really wanted to steal, wouldn’t it be better to steal the whole thing? Why steal only two pieces?
More importantly, he found that there were still some fish meat left on the two bamboo strips.
It was obvious that the two pieces of fish meat were forcibly pulled away.
What kind of thief would make such a big noise when stealing things, for fear of not alerting others?
Unfortunately, he slept too soundly last night and didn’t notice the movement outside the house.
Lu Qing searched carefully nearby and finally found several mud marks shaped like plum blossoms on the wall.
Each mark had several tiny holes. He
even found some similar marks on the ground.
He looked at the mud marks quietly.
Soon, he saw a faint white light shining through them.
White light?
Lu Qing was slightly startled.
He quickly looked at the two notes that appeared.
[Mud footprints: Judging from their shape, they seem to be the footprints of some mysterious little beast.]
[Looking at the small holes on the footprints, it seems to be a creature with sharp claws.]
Looking at the descriptions on the two notes, a scene instantly emerged in Lu Qing’s mind.
A mysterious and light little beast of unknown name, with a kick of its feet, used the wall for leverage, pounced on the fish on the bamboo pole, and pulled it off.
What could it be, a cat?
By the way, are there cats in this world?
A question emerged in Lu Qing’s mind.
Anyway, he had never seen one in the village, so who had a cat?
However, since it was confirmed that it was not a human who came to steal things, that was enough.
Lu Qing breathed a sigh of relief.
If it was a villager who came to steal things, it would not be good news for him.
Fortunately, it was just a wild beast, and judging from its footprints, it was not big.
His village was not far behind the mountains, so it was normal for wild animals to run down from time
to time. However, it seemed that he had to be more careful to close the doors and windows when sleeping in the future.
Otherwise, if a wild animal sneaked in in the middle of the night and hurt Xiaoyan, it would be terrible.
After figuring out what happened, Lu Qing didn’t care much.
The key was that he couldn’t fight a wild animal, so he could only put his things away after dark.
Thinking of this, Lu Qing suddenly remembered something, his eyes widened, and he hurried to the kitchen.
After a while, he came out with a look of relief on his face.
Fortunately, he kept the red moon carp in a wooden basin last night and put it in the kitchen.
To prevent the fish from jumping out, they covered the basin tightly with planks and stones.
Otherwise, it would have been hard to protect it from the beast.
After this incident, Lu Qing regained consciousness.
He didn’t tell Xiaoyan about the incident, but simply made breakfast. After the two siblings ate, they carried the red moon carp in a wooden bucket and headed towards the hillside where Doctor Chen lived.
This time, Lu Qing deliberately delayed his visit.
He feared arriving too early and catching the doctor practicing martial arts would tempt him to use his supernatural powers to imitate his techniques.
The doctor had been so kind to them, and he couldn’t afford to be ungrateful.
So he simply eliminated the possibility and avoided testing his moral composure.
Lu Qing’s strategy proved effective.
When he and Xiaoyan reached the courtyard halfway up the mountain, they saw Doctor Chen slowly winding up, evidently having just finished a martial arts practice.
“Grandpa Chen, we’ve come to see you!”
Xiaoyan happily ran up to the doctor.
“Hey, Xiaoyan’s here!”
Old Doctor Chen saw Xiaoyan running over and scooped her up, his face beaming like a chrysanthemum.
“Good morning, Grandpa Chen,” Lu Qing said, bowing.
“You’re here! Why are you later today than last time?” Old Doctor Chen asked.
“Because my brother stayed in bed!” Xiaoyan giggled. “You were the one who woke him up this morning!”
Lu Qing blushed. “I went fishing in the river all morning yesterday. I was a little tired, so I fell asleep a little.”
“It’s good to get more sleep,” Old Doctor Chen nodded. “You’re growing up, so you need plenty of rest.”
The old doctor looked at Lu Qing and Xiaoyan, and they looked much better than they had in the past few days.
He knew they must have been doing well these past few days, and he was quite pleased.
“Grandpa Chen, my brother and I went fishing yesterday, and he caught a really big fish!”
Xiaoyan started to show off to the old doctor.
“Oh, how big was it?” Old Doctor Chen smiled.
“It’s so big, as big as Xiaoyan!” The little guy gestured vigorously.
“So big?” Doctor Chen was a little surprised.
He thought that the big fish Xiaoyan was talking about was only two or three pounds at most. If it was really as she said, it would be much more than that.
“Yeah, that big fish is not only delicious, but also has very beautiful stones on its body. My brother made it into a pendant and gave it to Xiaoyan. Look, Grandpa Chen, this is it. Isn’t it beautiful?”
Xiaoyan pulled out the fish stone pendant from her neck and showed it to Doctor Chen.
“Is this… a green turtle stone?”
The old doctor was even more surprised when he saw the pendant on Xiaoyan’s neck clearly.
Hearing what he said, Lu Qing’s heart moved.
He also pretended to be surprised: “Grandpa Chen, do you know what this stone is?”
“Why, you don’t know?”
“I don’t know.” Lu Qing shook his head. “I found this stone in the throat of that big fish when I killed it. I thought it looked pretty, so I made it into a pendant for Xiaoyan to wear.”
“Then you’re quite lucky. This fish stone is a rare item, and you happened to come across it.”
Old Doctor Chen picked up the pendant and examined it.
“The big fish you caught must be a blue turtle, and it’s an old fish that has been bred for quite a long time.”
“Otherwise, it wouldn’t have produced a fish stone of such good quality.”
“This blue turtle stone, once it turns into jade, has a magical power that can soothe the mind. It’s also a rare medicinal ingredient. Its powder, taken with water, can calm children’s nerves.”
“By the way, where did you catch this blue turtle?”
