Chapter 17 Mental breakdown

When Lu Qing and Xiaoyan appeared at the small fish fishing spot,

the villagers who were still fishing there were all stunned when they saw the fish on Lu Qing’s back.

“Lu, Lu Qing, what are you carrying on your back?” A villager asked stutteringly.

“Fish.” Lu Qing took a breath and replied.

He really felt a little tired.

His body had not fully recovered, and he had been fighting with the green turtle and the red moon carp for so long.

Now he was a little bit exhausted from carrying so many things and walking.

However, his answer made the villagers a little collapsed.

Nonsense, of course they knew that he was carrying a fish on his back!

The question was, where did he catch such a big fish!

The villagers looked at the big fish on Lu Qing’s back, which was half his body height and whose tail was dragging on the ground. Their eyes were a little dizzy.

My God, this was the first time they had seen such a big fish!

However, some villagers noticed Lu Qing’s current predicament and hurried forward to help him take the fish off.

“Come on, come on, I’ll help you carry it. You’ve only just recovered, don’t let yourself get tired again.”

Lu Qing didn’t refuse.

He was truly beginning to feel a bit overwhelmed. He’d thought he could carry the fish home, but it seemed he’d overestimated his strength.

“Thank you, Brother Da’an,”

Lu Qing said, setting the fish down and taking a breath.

“Hey, you’re welcome. This is the first time I’ve ever seen a fish this big. It’s a blessing to be able to touch one. No, there’s another one in this bucket! What a beautiful fish!”

Villager Wang Da’an, beaming with joy, looked down and exclaimed again.

The other villagers, unable to contain themselves, immediately gathered around and peered into the bucket.

“Really? There’s another big fish in the bucket!”

“What kind of fish is this? It’s fiery red, I’ve never seen anything like it!”

“It’s so beautiful! Those lords in the city will surely love it.”

“Goodness! Lu Qing, how on earth did you catch two big fish at once?”

When the last question came out, everyone looked at Lu Qing.

“How I caught it? It’s pretty much the same as you guys.” Lu Qing reached out and took the rod from Xiaoyan’s shoulder. “I just picked a spot in the river up ahead. I didn’t expect to catch two big fish. It was pure luck.”

“So where did you fish?” a villager asked, his eyes rolling.

The moment he said this, the other villagers looked at him with disdain.

His intentions were too obvious. He didn’t even bother to hide it, bullying a child.

After the villager asked, he felt something was wrong and quickly said with a wry smile, “I’m just curious. Don’t tell me you aren’t curious.”

Lu Qing could certainly hear the villager’s meaning, but he didn’t care.

Even if he didn’t say it, they would definitely search for it.

The traces of his fishing spot couldn’t be concealed.

So he said bluntly, “It’s not far ahead, but I advise you not to go there yet.”

“Why?” the villager blurted out.

“Because the fishing area has been destroyed for a long time. There are no big fish, not even small ones. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have come back so soon,” Lu Qing said half-seriously.

The other villagers all thought it made sense.

Lu Qing had caught two large fish, especially the one on the ground, which was incredibly large.

With such a large fish, the noise must have been quite loud when fishing, and it would have been strange if the other fish hadn’t all fled.

Even so, some villagers still held onto a lucky glimmer.

For example, the villager who had asked about Lu Qing’s fishing spot had decided to quietly go over and see where Lu Qing was fishing.

Lu Qing didn’t care what the villagers thought.

He’d already said it, and if others insisted on going there to fish, he couldn’t do anything about it.

And even if someone did go there, he wouldn’t care.

Small fish didn’t bother him, but as for big fish…

It wasn’t that he looked down on the villagers, but with their skills,

they simply couldn’t catch a big one. Even if a big fish took a bite, their flimsy twine lines wouldn’t be able to withstand the terrifying force of the fish.

After a short rest, Lu Qing felt his strength return.

“Everyone, Xiaoyan and I are going back. You guys keep fishing,”

he said, and prepared to lift the blue turtle.

Wang Da’an saw it and quickly bent down to scoop it up. “Didn’t you say I’d do it? Lu Qing, you just carry the bucket. Oh my god, this fish is heavy! I’m afraid it must be nearly 20 kilograms!”

Only after he lifted the blue turtle did Wang Da’an realize it was even heavier than he’d expected.

He couldn’t help but look at Lu Qing, incredulous. How could someone so small have landed such a large fish?

“Thank you, Da’an! I’ll treat you to some fish when we get back!”

Lu Qing didn’t refuse, glad to have someone help him.

“That’s great! I’ve never eaten such a big fish in my life!” Wang Da’an was instantly delighted.

Watching Lu Qing and the other two head towards the village, the remaining villagers looked at each other.

Suddenly, one of them shouted, “What the hell are you fishing for! Go back to the village and watch the fun!”

“That’s right. We’ve been waiting all morning, and all we got are a few small fish. We might as well go back and watch Lu Qing kill the fish!”

“I haven’t seen enough of those two big fish yet. I have to go back and take a closer look.”

…

If the villagers had still had the patience to continue waiting here before Lu Qing returned,

then watching Lu Qing leave with two huge fish, everyone’s hearts were broken. They

‘d been waiting here for two or three days, and the result was not even a fraction of what someone else had caught in two hours. How could this be justified?

It was better not to catch these fish!

Devastated, the villagers packed up their things and prepared to return to the village.

Lu Qing and his companions had just left; if they had run a little faster, they might have been able to catch them.

“Old Zhao, aren’t you going home?”

Everyone was packing up, but one man remained unmoved, still sitting there fishing.

Seeing him, the others asked .

“You guys go back first. I’ll fish a little longer. Maybe we’ll catch some fish soon.”

The villager, known as Old Zhao, who had asked Lu Qing about his fishing spot, smiled innocently.

“Okay, then, keep fishing. I’ve been fishing here for days, and the fish are gone. Didn’t you already dislike this place before you saw Lu Qing?”

While everyone had previously dismissed Lu Qing’s fishing skills, assuming his ability to catch so many small fish was due to his secret recipe of using earthworms as bait,

after seeing those two large fish, no one dared to underestimate Lu Qing’s fishing skills.

Fish that big would be impossible for them.

It’s not like anyone else had tried to catch a large fish these past few days, only to return empty-handed.

Either the line snapped or the rod exploded, and no one could pull up the big fish.

After packing up, everyone left

one after another. Only Lao Zhao was left, calmly continuing to fish.

After a while, after making sure that no one could see him, Lao Zhao suddenly jumped up

and hurriedly packed up his things.

“A bunch of idiots, you believe everything Lu Qing says, I don’t believe that he really caught all the fish there!”

After saying this, he hugged his things and ran in the direction where Lu Qing and Xiaoyan came from.
