[Demon Hunter’s Blade Chapter 53]

Chapter 67 Gina

When Gina was alone, Ciel waited outside. After Reese left, it was his turn to lie on the window sill and the night was chilly.

The servants lit the wall torches in the corridor, and the whole castle soon became brightly lit again.

A poet with a bitter face approached.

“Does Miss Gina need musical comfort?” He held a banjo in his hand.

Charles glanced at the room, but nothing happened.

“Just play outside.”

The poet holds the piano column with his right hand and plucks the strings with his left hand. The rhythm sounds more or less like that, and the music is crisp.

“How did the crisis come about?” Ciel asked him, “I mean the whole process.” He still lacked someone who could help him restore the whole thing.

“I was chatting with the stable boy downstairs, and then we heard a very harsh sound, maybe some animal was calling, the stable boy pointed at the fence, barked, and then ran away, I know there is a problem, hurry up and run Entering the room, Lord Garnier asked me to find a weapon to fight. To tell you the truth, what can I do! So I hid in the closet and waited until everything calmed down before coming out.” The poet had lingering fears.

“Where is the stable boy now?”

“The guards said he was crazy and took him away.” The poet shook his head.

“This is a demon attack.” Ciel characterized it, “There must be more behind it.”

“By the way, you’re the devil hunter people talk about?” the poet was very interested. “Do you mind if I write you a poem? Write down your story, as if it were a theme.”

“A poem…” Charles was curious. “What do people say?”

“They say that you are ruthless with a knife, you can break through monsters, take risks alone, and turn the tide.” The poet’s tone was brisk, “Like a hero.”

“A hero…” Charles pondered, “It seems like that, but Mr. Poet, what exactly is a hero?”

“I guess heroes can do things that others can’t, and deserve admiration and gratitude.” The poet touched the short beard on his chin.

“I see.” Ciel felt at ease and seemed to have done something meaningful.

“Shall we go in?” Ines walked across the corridor towards the bedroom.

“See you next time.” Charles bid farewell to the poet.

They walked into Lord Rene’s bedroom. The guards had dragged away the monster’s body, but the blood had not been wiped away, and the room was full of fishy smell.

To Ciel’s surprise, Gina recovered faster than he thought. She wrapped herself in a quilt, sat on the bed, and looked up at them with a calmer expression, although there was still a hint of sadness in her eyes.

“Are you okay?” Ciel said regretfully from a distance away, “…We are late.”

“Are those monsters demons?” Gina looked angry.

“Yes,” Ciel said affirmatively, “… feed on us.”

“Where did they come from?”

“Many people in the city are involved in this attack.” There is no one else here, Gina can be trusted, and Ciel decides to confess, “I’m going to investigate the Thieves Guild and the temple.”

“They want to kill me.” Gina pursed her lips, “… Dad will be very angry when he finds out.”

“Lord Rene will definitely come back to clean up the sin.” Ciel thought for a while.

“No.” Gina shook her head and stood up from the bed, now she was taller than Ciel, “Dad has more important things to do, the noble council summoned him with an urgent letter… I don’t want him to worry about it.”

“But this is a dangerous event, and we need troops and reliable soldiers,” Ciel explained.

“You should have solved all this.” Gina was a little resentful, “You are a demon hunter, you should take precautions before it happens.”

“Nothing like this will ever happen again,” Ciel assured. “It’s just that the sanctuary is at its most undefended and vulnerable, and we need people and money.”

“I know, you guys should arm yourselves as soon as possible,” Gina’s tone was more mature than her appearance, “I’ll ask my brother to write to Rocher and let Reese recruit new recruits and form a local militia.” She jumped out of bed, Stepping on the ground covered in blood, but not caring, Gina took out an iron box from the cabinet on the side of the room and held it to Ciel.

“This is…” Ciel held the heavy iron box, which was very heavy.

“Dad’s private money, you saved me, you deserve it.” Gina said calmly.

“Thank you very much.” Charles was a little surprised.

“…But if the demons succeed in creating similar chaos again…I’ll be very disappointed.” Gina stared at Ciel, “I thought you guys would make up for the Winged Demon incident and learn enough lessons. ”

“…I will find out that witch and spare no effort.”

“Gina? Gina?” Charles heard Garnier’s voice.

Garnier changed into a grey shirt and came to look for his sister.

He looked much better, and the blood came back to his face.

Hearing her brother’s shouts and footsteps approaching, Gina returned to her youthful and innocent appearance, sitting on the bed and wiping tears.

“Oh, sister!” Garnier came over with heartache, “Are you okay?”

Gina shook her head sadly.

“Brother, the monster is too scary.” She whispered sadly, her eyes suddenly became wet, tears kept pouring out, and finally she burst into tears.

Ines wiped Gina’s tears with a handkerchief, and Gina turned to hug her. Ines shook her gently and kissed her forehead like a child.

“Ciel,” Garnier walked towards Ciel, wrapping his arms around his shoulders, hugging him like a brother, “you saved my life and everyone.”

“It seems that the potion has worked.” Ciel took the remaining purple potion from Garnier, and there was still about one-third of the amount left.

“I was already in a deep sleep, and I could hear the call of the gods in the Temple of Beauty, and I gradually walked towards the sky. But my consciousness calmed down again, and I could feel the weight of my body again. Soon the wound was no longer painful. I survived, thanks to you!” Garnier said excitedly.

“You are strong, and you have a good chance of surviving.” Ciel nodded.

“The soldiers don’t know what they are doing. They can’t even deal with a few beasts. I want to strengthen their training and use my wealth to gather mercenaries.” Garnier was very dissatisfied.

“Yes, the city needs to be strengthened, and the countryside.” Ciel actually wanted them to raid the temple directly, but it was obviously difficult.

“I couldn’t agree more.” Garnier nodded and turned to Gina, “We are going to pray in front of the shrine, Gina, will you come too?”

“I’ll wait and go, woo…” Gina’s hair was scattered on Ines’ chest, and her expression was weak.

“It’s alright, wait for you to arrive before we start.” Garnier nodded, turned and walked away.

Gina stared at Garnier’s back until he was far away, then turned to look at Ciel, slipping out of Ines’ arms.

“…There’s something that bothers me a lot.” She wiped away her tears.

“What?” Charles was puzzled.

“The demons attacked and didn’t kill me or my brother, and then you guys came and settled the incident. That poet outside praised you as a hero, he’ll write poems about you, and you’ll be famous soon. Oh, what am I saying, isn’t it natural?” Gina whispered.

The atmosphere in the room froze for a while.

“Ha, I would have a similar guess if it were me.” Gladius shouted, “How could such a coincidence happen! Isn’t this a play that is willing to fight and suffer? As soon as the hunter shows up, the witch runs away. Although it’s not like this this time… But I think this method is very suitable! You should raise your own demons in the future, let the demons go around mischievous, and then you bravely show up to resolve the crisis, there is no danger at all, the hunters gain fame, the demons It’s so refreshing to eat some soul!”

Gina actually suspected me of colluding with demons.

The thought made Ciel’s heart darken.

Ines glanced at Ciel, then turned to Gina.

“Are you suspicious of us?” Ines said in disbelief. “If we were really mean, why didn’t we just kill you? Rob this place, raze the castle to the ground, and bring Lord Rene to the ground. Open the proud vault and take everything inside, isn’t it more than what you get now?”

“In that case, my father would risk violating parliamentary orders by returning early and regaining control of the situation,” Gina said.

“…I don’t understand.” Ines said mockingly, “I’ll never understand what the nobles think.”

“Sorry, just be suspicious, both are loyal demon hunters.” Gina walked away from the room.

Why did she become like this… Ciel looked at Gina’s back.

“Fool,” Gladiu sneered, “Which one do you think is more difficult to accept?—She is like this, her previous innocence was just a disguise; or she was originally innocent, but because she was kidnapped by a witch, she has since become vigilant and suspicious.”

“It’s hard to accept.” Charles sighed.

“I’m not feeling well,” Ines complained. “Does she really doubt us, or is she just making wild guesses. I saved her! If it wasn’t for me, how could she survive?”

“It’s not important anymore.” Ciel shook his head. “What’s important is that this is the first step since the rebuilding of the church. Despite all the ups and downs, we managed to resolve a crisis.”

“Hmm,” Ines looked at the iron box in Ciel’s hand, “how much money is there?”

money.

Charles opened the corner of the iron box, and the inside was full of golden yellow, which made his heart beat faster.

“Rene’s gold.” Charles put the iron box into his bag, “Let’s talk about it when we go back to the church.”

They followed the direction of the people walking, approaching the shrine in the castle.

The shrine is placed in a beautiful clean room, which is made of stone, and there is a statue of Edwo, the god of Loman. The image of the god is mighty, and the face is blurred. During his lifetime, he was the king of Loman. After his death, he was worshipped by the people and became the first god of Loman. He also used the supreme power to build the Hall of Beauty Gate to entertain the later ascended gods, and had the highest authority among the gods.

Everyone knelt in front of the shrine, stared at the statue, and prayed silently in their hearts. The nobles were in the middle, and the servants and others were on the edge. Everyone looked very pious and serious.

After such an attack, people really need spiritual sustenance to comfort their hearts. Ciel and Ines arrived too late and could only pray near the door.

They looked at the statues and the gods.

“Lord Edvard,” Ciel thought to himself, “if you really exist, protect this world and don’t let the demons in.”

“Why don’t you think about our feelings, you bastard? If we can’t get in, where are we going to eat?” Gladiu yelled.

Ciel turned a deaf ear to this and just stared at the idol.

The candles flickered around, the light gradually dimmed, and everything fell into a hazy light and shadow. Is it an illusion?

Charles opened his eyes.

The statue of the gods began to flow black blood.

Chapter 68 The Statue of Spilled Blood

This terrifying scene made everyone present feel uneasy, the god statue dripped blood, is there anything more terrifying than this?

“How is this going?”

“God…”

The people whispered uncomfortably, the whispers gradually converged, the voices became louder and denser, and finally became almost an astonishing noise, everyone couldn’t help sharing their guesses, the prayer room was quiet, now it is noisy continuously.

“It should be the curse of the devil! Curse!”

“We made too many mistakes, and God started punishing us.”

“Have we done anything taboo?”

“God will no longer bless us…”

By the end, someone even started crying, and the cries upset Ciel.

The bleeding of the idol was nothing more than a omen of calamity, but Ciel didn’t believe in fate, and no prophecy, divination, or revelation could change his mind.

“You guy, you should believe in fate, everything is predetermined. For example, I am destined to be eternal, and you are destined to die.”

“not like this.”

“Within a hundred years, the open door demons will open the way from hell to here, and the demons will flood in and destroy this place! You should surrender sooner! Surrender to a greater power!”

Ciel stood up and walked to the shrine.
