Chapter 339 The Strange Sea

Kolgiri is a large city that was established less than a hundred years ago, but its infrastructure and population density far exceed those of the current capital of the Principality of Kerma.

Moreover, there are many novel things there that have never been heard of. Even Captain Harry’s airships are common there.

However, it is very difficult to settle there. One must go through a series of reviews and pay a large sum of money, even for wizard apprentices.

Baidong Academy is only open to formal wizards and above for free.

“What if it’s just a short stay?” Thor asked.

“Then you only need to pay this amount. But you need to be reviewed regularly.” Pound pointed a number at Thor.

Thor immediately gave up the idea of going to Kolgiri as the next stop.

During the conversation, the city wall of Blue Water Bay was already in sight, but Thor had not seen the “blue water” or the black water.

“Isn’t Bluewater Bay by the sea?”

“It used to be, but after the war a hundred years ago, the city of Bluewater Bay was moved to a place far away from the sea. In recent years, the soul tides have become more and more frequent, and even the villages living near the bay have been forced to move away.”

Bond opened the large car window and pointed in the direction to Thor, “If you want to go to the beach, just follow that road and go south.”

Listening to Bond’s introduction, Thor slowly frowned, “Since the seaside has been uninhabited for a long time, why are there still ships docked at the pier there?”

Bond’s face was bitter, “Because it’s cheap, sir. But in the past two years, fewer and fewer ships are willing to dock in Bluewater Bay, and life has become more and more difficult.”

Thor swept Bond’s ten fingers, “Difficult?”

“Haha,” Bond pulled the corner of his mouth awkwardly, “I don’t do business in this area, I just come to see my wife and children who live here occasionally.”

Thor naturally wouldn’t care about Bond’s private life. He kept Bond mainly to learn about the soul tides.

“How much do you know about the soul tide?”

“A lot, sir.”

Pound’s eyes lit up, he knew that his chance to show off had come!

…

Sol did not enter the city of Bluewater Bay in the end. He asked Pound for a horse, and turned silently onto the path to the bay halfway.

Although the wealthy businessman Pound regretted not being able to invite Sol to his home, he was more relieved that Sol had left.

He ordered his men to hurry up and wanted to go home as soon as possible, but as soon as the carriage accelerated, he saw a group of nobles waiting outside the city gate.

“Master!” Outside the window, the slightly older servant trembled and said, “Viscount Elaf, Lady Shetterly, Mr. Odu, please go over and sit for a while.”

Pound was stunned for a moment, then he exhaled a long breath.

On the other side, when Sol rushed to the beach, the sky was already gray.

The heavy clouds came into view almost instantly. The sky was still clear on the shore, but the sea was covered with dark clouds.

It was like a sharp blade, dividing the sea and the land into two worlds, clearly separated.

Only the waves wrapped in white foam occasionally crossed the boundary. They were like palms struggling for survival, trying hard to climb onto the shore, but eventually retreating in despair because of the indifference of the beach.

Everything just now was not entirely a metaphor. Sol squinted his eyes and looked at it. Between the rising and falling waves, a pair of pale arms would occasionally appear, with their knuckles ferociously grabbing the shore, and then quickly being scattered by the waves.

“There is indeed something wrong with the sea water here.” The

sea in the previous life was refreshing to watch, but the sea in front of me always gave people a faint feeling of palpitations.

It was like you were not watching the sea on the shore, but a drowning person who could sink to the bottom of the sea forever at any time.

The place where the sea and the sky merged in the farthest distance was also distorted, with the pale gray and the deep dark blue gradually merging together, but swallowing each other.

The skyline was not a straight line, but a distorted outline.

After just a moment of watching, Sol felt that his spirit was a little restless. He lowered his head, no longer looking at the end of the sky, but only focusing on what was in front of him.

“No wonder ordinary people would rather spend huge amounts of money to move a city away. If you really live by the sea every day and look at this kind of scene, nine out of ten people will go crazy.”

At this time, he was standing on a cliff some distance away from the sea. Just as he was about to fly to the bottom of the cliff to observe the sea water closely, he heard other sounds mixed in with the

waves. It was the sound of the soles of shoes rubbing against sand and shells, and the sound of walking against the waves.

Thor wanted to look around, and finally saw a dozen people on a flat sandy ground below the cliff.

This group of people included men and women, old and young. Each of them had a thick hemp rope tied around their waists, which was tied to a larger stone on the shore.

Their eyes were covered with black scarves, and their feet were on the wet sand, and sometimes they were knee-deep in the sea water.

They would stop after taking one or two steps and put their hands into the sea water or sand to feel around.

Every time they bent down, they seemed very nervous, with their knees slightly bent and tense, ready to exert force at any time. It was as if they were not bending down, but preparing to jump.

“Are these people… going to the sea?”

Thor used the flying technique to jump silently from the cliff and then landed a hundred meters away from those people.

He walked a few steps toward the sea, looked down at the beach where the waves had plowed, and found nothing.

“There are very few shells and seaweed here. But there are no signs of people walking. This means that they were not dug up by people who went to the sea. It is because this place is rarely visited and there are few plants and animals.”

At this time, Xiaozao suddenly took the initiative to get out of Thor’s neck and looked around like a flexible little snake.

“What did you find?”

Xiaozao immediately turned his head towards the waves.

“Is it the breath of death?” Thor thought, and walked two steps toward the sea.

Suddenly he heard a terrified shout from the crowd.

He immediately turned his head to see, and found that one of the men suddenly straightened up, and then turned his head and ran towards the rope without saying a word.

He didn’t stop until he ran to a place where the waves couldn’t touch him. It was only a few steps, but he was so tired that he bent over and gasped.

Obviously, he was scared.

Although Thor turned his head to look after the other party shouted, his quick reaction and excellent eyesight allowed him to see clearly what scared the man.

It was a pair of pale hands hidden in the equally pale waves.

The hands became real in an instant and instantly grasped the wrist of the man who was groping in the sea.

That’s why the man fled to the shore in fear.

After the man fled, everyone else stopped and straightened up. They turned their heads covered with black scarves towards the man, and they were also very nervous. But after a few breaths, no one followed the man to the shore.

They seemed to be hesitating, hesitant, and reluctant.

It was quiet for another minute. The first person continued to bend down and grope for something in the sand, then the second, the third…

Everyone’s face was numb, even the child.

And the man who was scared away, after resting on his knees on the shore for a while, stretched the rope again, and after making sure that the rope was tied to the stone firmly, he walked back to the sea.

“There should be something in the sea that can be sold for money.” Thor simply walked towards the location of those people and prepared to ask directly.

At this moment, something unexpected happened again.

A boy suddenly slipped and fell into the water. He struggled to stand up, but somehow he crawled two steps into the deep water.

After being choked by the waves, he frantically pulled the rope around his waist to determine the direction of the shore.

But when he stretched the rope and crawled two more steps in the direction of the rope, he found that the water was deeper.

The part of his face that was not covered by the black scarf showed a horrified expression, and he obviously didn’t know why this happened.
