Chapter 02 Demon Hunter, Where’s Your Sword?

“After a long journey, you must be tired and hungry. At this time, there is an urgent need for food and a warm bed.”

Vesemir smiled, “As a guest, I can give you the best room in the entire castle. Before dinner, you still have time for Escal to show you the entire castle.”

Roger readily agreed, and then led by Escal to the so-called deluxe room.

“The situation is no better than before.” Looking at the bare room, Eskal looked embarrassed, which made his entire face look a little distorted.

This is a relatively independent and complete tower. I have to say that apart from the louder noise when turning over, there seems to be nothing wrong with the bed inside.

Roger is very convinced that if he takes a female companion here overnight, everything that happened in the room that night will be clearly and unmistakably spread throughout the castle.

“At least the surrounding walls are still intact.”

Roger didn’t care. In this world, the identities of the demon hunters were embarrassing. They were not recognized by humans, and they were subject to rejection by some non-human races.

Coupled with the scarcity of numbers, it is difficult to hold a group for warmth, and they can only struggle to earn some meager profits on the line of life and death. The overall situation is very difficult.

So for a demon hunter, a clean and tidy bed and complete walls are enough to be called a comfortable environment.

“Come with me, I will show you around. Next, we will spend the whole winter here.”

Following the stairs of the tower all the way down, the two walked through the castle. Whenever they arrived, Eskar would stop for a while and introduce Roger to the past scenery.

When passing through a passage and a downward spiral staircase appeared in front of him, Eskal stopped suddenly.

“What’s the matter, the road ahead is blocked by a collapse again?” Roger asked strangely.

“No.” Eskal shook his head, then lit the torch, and led Roger to the darkness. Everything in front of him was lit up and the surroundings became clear.

Roger saw the flat table top and the strange utensils placed on it, besides there were many grinding and separating equipment.

The air is filled with the smell of herbs, which should have been left a long time ago. Obviously, there are still people visiting here from time to time.

“The riot long ago not only destroyed Kyle Mohan, but more importantly, it cut off the inheritance of the whole school.”

“Vesemir thought about a lot of methods, but unfortunately, he only restored some basic potions, but the most important mutation part could never be retrieved.”

“Everyone likes to joke that Lambert is the youngest demon hunter, but in fact, he should be the last one.”

Escal sighed, and he could see that he was full of deep feelings for this castle, and more importantly, his identity.

“Is there no way?” Roger frowned.

Escal took a deep breath.

“The trial process is inherently dangerous. It requires a lot of preparatory work and screening in the early stage. Although the trial can be carried out reluctantly, it is basically the same as killing.”

“Because the chance of success is too low.”

“Lambert was the last one, and since then we have stopped all trials.”

“And now…” Eskal sighed.

“Our situation is getting harder and harder, maybe one day it will disappear completely.”

Escal and Roger talked about the past of training here. He and Geralt came to Kyle Morhan almost at the same time to participate in training together, and then grow together through trials.

They are not brothers but they are better than brothers.

However, there are many differences between the two in character.

Eskal once said, Geralt, I’m different from you, I’m just an ordinary witch hunter, I don’t hunt dragons, I don’t call brothers the king, and I don’t sleep with the sorcerer…

He is more suitable to be the guardian of Kyle Morhan than Geralt.

The two returned to the hall, the flames in the fireplace were booming, and the two of Vesemir had prepared food.

It is basically impossible to see a sumptuous dinner here. Simply being able to eat everything is the greatest happiness.

Of course, wine is essential.

“Well, Roger, why didn’t I see your sword?” Lambert asked strangely after swallowing the venison in his mouth.

“I don’t have a sword.” Roger replied without looking up.

“No sword?” Lambert’s expression was slightly taken aback, then he looked at Roger carefully, paying particular attention to Roger’s fingers and the base of his palm.

“Are you from Kelselen Castle?”

“I heard that it is from the Griffin School…”

“cough!”

A low voice interrupted Lambert’s next words, Vesemir spoke suddenly, and he raised the wine glass in his hand.

“Welcome to you.”

While talking, he quietly gave Lambert a look.

The demon hunters of the Griffin School pay more attention to the cultivation of the power of the seal. The sword is only used as an aid. In private, Lambert once sneered at this practice.

He always believes that a demon hunter without a sword is not worthy to be called a demon hunter.

In addition, many news indicate that Kelselen Castle has been destroyed, and the demon hunters of the Griffin School rarely hear it.

Vesemir obviously didn’t want Lambert to mention the Griffin School on this occasion. This guy was mean and annoying.

“No, I didn’t come from there.”

Roger shook his head, “My situation… is a bit complicated. When I woke up, I didn’t have a sword in my hand.”

“You lost your sword?” Lambert obviously couldn’t accept such a reason. The weapons of the demon hunters are their lives. In addition, in this year, good weapons are often very valuable.

“What happened, you encountered a robbery?”

Lambert’s signature smile appeared on his face, but Escal who hadn’t waited for Roger to speak this time interjected.

“Shut up, Lambert, things are not what you think, Roger hasn’t been robbed by anyone, and of course I don’t think anyone can take anything from him.”

He put down the wine glass in his hand and looked at Roger, with a slight trace of respect in his eyes.

That is respect for the strong.

“He only remembers his name, and forgot all the rest.” Escal continued.

“Also, do you remember? I said before that Roger saved my life.”

“A caravan was attacked by a monster. I took the commission and went to investigate. I thought it was just a small task. I didn’t expect that I tracked it all the way to the destination but found that all my mission targets had been killed.”

“Oh, Escal, you are really lucky as always, you can make a lot of money in vain by doing nothing.” Lambert shrugged and chuckled.

“Good luck?” Eskal snorted coldly.

“When I got there, the criss-tailed dragon was feasting, and my arrival obviously disturbed its interest.”

As he spoke, he gave Roger a grateful smile.

“Without Roger, I’m afraid I would be like those poor guys, now a pile of dung smeared on the walls of the cave.”

Having said that, he took a deep breath and turned his gaze to Lambert.

“Roger saved me.”

“Use his fist.”

“One punch smashed the head of the Diosaurus!”
