Chapter 16152. The Attack

Kong Youwei was resting when the sudden sound of a horn jolted him awake. His expression changed, and in the next instant, he rushed out of the room. Once outside, he immediately looked around, and finally, glancing at the sky, his pupils shrank to pinpoints. Then, he leaped into the air, followed by all the other experts in the city. Along with them flew a thousand elite soldiers. They didn’t know how they managed to don their armor, grab their weapons, and take flight in formation in such a short time.

This was actually normal. When these soldiers received their armor and weapons, they refined them, storing these magical artifacts in their spatial storage. When they needed them, a thought was all it took for the equipment to appear on their bodies, which explained their incredible speed.

Kong Youwei flew into the sky, looking at the Blood Slaughter Sect members. They all stood silently, no one speaking. Kong Youwei glanced at Beast Suppression City and noticed chaos. Almost all the rogue cultivators had rushed out of their rooms and were now looking up at the sky.

Kong Youwei shouted, “Everyone, return to your rooms! No one is allowed to leave without orders! Disobeyers will be executed!”

Following his command, the rogue cultivators exchanged glances and then immediately returned to their rooms. Although Kong Youwei noticed a large number of Blood Slaughter Sect disciples, he still issued this order. He knew very well that their combat strength wasn’t very high, and they weren’t allies. They weren’t necessarily loyal to them. If they were allowed to run rampant, chaos would break out in the city first. That’s why he gave this order.

Chang Jun looked at Kong Youwei, then smiled slightly and said, “Not bad, but are you so confident that you dare to attack us with just this few people?”

Kong Youwei looked coldly at Chang Jun, and when he saw the Blood Slaughter Sect disciples behind Chang Jun, his expression became even more solemn. He noticed that all of the Blood Slaughter Sect disciples had a military bearing, a quality that couldn’t be faked. This was the reason for his grim expression. In the Divine Kingdom, sects were not allowed to train armies; only the Divine Kingdom could have an army. Yet Chang Jun and his group had one. How could Kong Youwei not be astonished? Regardless of their identities, this alone was enough for them to commit a capital offense.

Chang Jun looked at Kong Youwei and then said, “You really have a lot of nerve, daring to train an army on your own? You’re courting death!”

Chang Jun laughed and said, “The laws of the Divine Kingdom don’t apply to me. We can train whenever we want. You think you can stop us? You’re not qualified.”

Kong Youwei looked at Chang Jun, his face darkening. He said in a deep voice, “Fine, I’ll see if we’re qualified. Form ranks!” He said this last sentence to the army behind him.

Although there were only a thousand elite soldiers, they were indeed elite. They formed ranks immediately, each carrying an extra crossbow.

Chang Jun looked at them and smiled slightly, “Alright, then let’s see if you have the right to interfere with us. Leave a thousand men to play with them. The rest of you, go down and turn everyone into the undead.” The Blood Slaughter Sect disciples behind him all responded, and then they flew down from the sky and attacked everyone in the city, whether they were commoners or rogue cultivators, high-ranking officials or wealthy merchants. They were all the same; they had no intention of letting anyone go.

Upon seeing the Blood Slaughter Sect disciples’ actions, Kong Youwei’s expression changed drastically. He immediately turned to look at Chang Jun and said, “Are you crazy? If you do this, the Divine Kingdom will not let you off the hook.”

Chang Jun smiled slightly and said, “Alright, anyway, we have no intention of letting the Divine Kingdom off the hook.”

Seeing Chang Jun’s expression, Kong Youwei knew there was nothing more to say. He immediately shouted, “Attack!” With his command, the thousand elite soldiers all raised their crossbows. The next moment, there was a buzzing sound, followed by a hissing sound of arrows cutting through the air. A volley of crossbow bolts flew straight towards the Blood Slaughter Sect disciples.

The crossbow bolts targeted Chang Jun, but he swiftly dodged them. The next moment, countless boomerang-like weapons flew out from the Blood Slaughter Sect’s battle formation, directly meeting the crossbow bolts.

A series of rapid clanging sounds followed as the boomerang-like weapons deflected all the bolts. However, instead of returning to the Blood Slaughter Sect’s battle formation, the boomerang-like weapons continued to circle around.

Upon seeing this, Kong Youwei’s expression grew even more grim. Looking at the Blood Slaughter Sect members, his face darkened further, and he immediately shouted, “Continue the attack!” With his command, another wave of crossbow bolts rained down, but it was all blocked.

Seeing this, Kong Youwei knew that attacking with crossbows was pointless, and he immediately shouted, “The army advances!” At his command, the elite soldiers immediately put away their crossbows, and with a flick of their wrists, two magical weapons appeared in their hands: a large shield about the height of a person and a long spear. Holding the shields, they slowly advanced.

Chang Jun, however, didn’t say a word. He knew the Blood Slaughter Sect disciples knew what to do. The next moment, the Blood Slaughter Sect disciples formed a Rubik’s Cube formation. At the same time, the swirling boomerangs all flew back to their side and disappeared. The outer layer of their Rubik’s Cube formation was also made entirely of large shields, which were even more powerful; they could be linked together to form an iron wall.

Seeing this, Kong Youwei’s expression grew even more solemn. He knew perfectly well what this meant: the Blood Slaughter Sect disciples were all highly trained, perhaps even more so than their elite soldiers. Such enemies were the most terrifying. Kong

Youwei looked at Chang Jun and asked again, “Who exactly are you?”

Chang Jun smiled slightly and said, “The ones who will take your lives.” With that, Chang Jun waved his hand, and the next moment, the alien cavalry charged straight towards Kong Youwei and the others.

Standing beside Kong Youwei were a dozen or so people, all of whom were Kingdom-level experts. When they saw the alien cavalry charging towards them, their expressions changed slightly, not out of fear, but out of anger. They hadn’t assessed the alien cavalry’s combat strength; they assumed they were weaker than them, hence their anger. In the cultivation world, there was a somewhat unwritten rule: Kingdom-level experts generally wouldn’t attack their subordinates, and subordinates wouldn’t provoke Kingdom-level experts. Kong Youwei’s followers, assuming the alien cavalry weren’t Kingdom-level, dared to attack them—this was their biggest source of anger.

However, as the alien cavalry drew closer, their expressions completely changed. They realized the alien cavalry were all Kingdom-level experts. At this point, they weren’t angry anymore, but fearful. They no longer thought Chang Jun and his group looked down on them; instead, they thought Chang Jun and his group overestimated them.

Kong Youwei also discovered the strength of the alien cavalry. His expression turned even more grim as he stared at them in disbelief. Others might not know, but he was very clear that the soldiers of the Divine Kingdom all practiced a special body-refining technique. This technique allowed for extremely fast cultivation as long as one was willing to endure hardship. However, this technique had a problem: it could only be cultivated up to the Royal Palace level at most, and it was impossible to go any higher. In other words, soldiers could only reach the Royal Palace level at most. Moreover, this technique also affected one’s lifespan. Even if you reached the Royal Palace level, you would only have a lifespan of a little over two hundred years. Military techniques could not possibly allow one to reach the Royal City or Kingdom level.

It can be said that military martial arts sacrifice the ability to extend lifespan, nourish the body, and even the path to advancement, allowing one to rapidly increase strength, focusing more on killing power. Therefore, military martial arts can be mastered very quickly and have strong attack power, but the lifespan of those who practice them is short, and it is impossible to reach very high levels.

Therefore, Kong Youwei had always believed that no martial arts could allow everyone to practice it and still reach the kingdom level. However, the appearance of the alien cavalry shattered this perception. He discovered that the alien cavalry were not only powerful, but more importantly, they formed a standard military formation. Their strength was almost identical, and their coordination was incredibly tacit. This situation was completely beyond Kong Youwei’s expectations. He had never imagined that such an army existed in this world, an army composed of kingdom-level experts.

That’s why his expression changed, turning deathly pale. He glanced at the city and shouted, “Everyone in Beast Suppression City, listen up! The enemy intends to kill everyone in the city! Attack the enemy immediately!” With that, he moved swiftly, landing in the city and disappearing into the ground. He had escaped!

Kong Youwei’s actions startled Chang Jun, but then Chang Jun saw everyone in the city rush out and attack the Blood Slaughter Sect disciples. The entire city was instantly thrown into chaos. He immediately understood that Kong Youwei was creating confusion so he could escape in the chaos. He had already dealt with the Blood Slaughter Sect, so he must be trying to report their strength to the Divine Kingdom so they could prepare accordingly.

Unfortunately, his decision this time was destined to fail, because the entire Beast Town City was completely enveloped by the barrier array, and he could not possibly escape. This barrier array was spherical and had no loopholes, so Kong Youwei had absolutely no chance of escaping.
