Chapter 16051 The Power of Faith

Zhao Hai was also aware of the power of pollution; they had even studied this energy in detail. This power was incredibly potent, and they had used it effectively. Frankly, it was both powerful and terrifying; it could subtly transform you, which was the most frightening aspect of this polluting power. Zhao Hai had a thorough understanding of this power, so when he saw Huai’an Kingdom turn black, he knew the entire kingdom was completely polluted. Today,

Zhao Hai had also carefully studied the statue. He was now certain that the statue was like a node, a node representing an avatar of the God of Pride. The God of Pride had set up a program for this node, which automatically absorbed the power of pride, distributing rewards and even tasks—it was quite powerful.

Of course, Zhao Hai’s previous guess was also correct. The God of Pride, through this node, released the divine power of pride, which entered the bodies of all those who believed in him, turning them into potential avatars of the God of Pride, just like the Celestial Sphere was to Zhao Hai.

As for the power of arrogance, it was exactly as Zhao Hai had imagined. It was a very special, high-level energy with various abilities. For example, this energy could modify the human body to a certain extent, making it more suitable for absorbing spiritual energy. It could also mobilize the surrounding spiritual energy, making it more active and allowing it to better integrate into the body. This was the reward the God of Arrogance gave to his followers. In reality, calling it a reward meant completely corrupting and controlling his followers.

At this point, Zhao Hai had a pretty good understanding of the God of Arrogance’s situation. In other words, the God of Arrogance’s current situation was similar to Zhao Hai’s. Zhao Hai was comprehending the power of runes, which allowed him to turn anything with runes into an avatar or an energy node, functioning similarly to that space.

Zhao Hai can also use the power of runes to modify the human body, control surrounding forces to make them more dynamic and easier to penetrate, and even make the runes release a corrupting force to completely corrupt a person. Once completely corrupted, that person becomes an avatar of his, which he can control like the God of Pride, making it live or die at will. In short, Zhao Hai’s current path is the same as the God of Pride’s. The

God of Pride could live forever as long as he possessed the power of pride, and for Zhao Hai, as long as the runes exist, he can live forever. Within the Blood Slaughter Sect, no one else has comprehended their own laws to this extent.

Having read this far, Zhao Hai’s understanding of the God of Arrogance was roughly complete. He also knew what he would ultimately face if he were to deal with the God of Arrogance’s followers. To be precise, if he only dealt with a portion of the God of Arrogance’s followers, the God of Arrogance wouldn’t care, because he had too many followers, and some deaths were normal. However, if he were to kill all the Gods of Arrogance in the Divine Realm, it would definitely attract the God of Arrogance’s attention. After all, the God of Arrogance couldn’t possibly be unaware of the mass deaths of so many followers.

Once the God of Arrogance discovered the large-scale deaths of his followers, he would definitely take notice, and then the God of Arrogance would reveal himself. That would be when their true danger would arrive.

Zhao Hai also wondered, if he were the God of Arrogance, and he discovered his followers being slaughtered in large numbers, and he wanted to help them, he would have to cross realms to help, which would greatly suppress his own power. What would he do then? He would do everything in his power to quickly enhance the strength of his followers, even to the point where their power could reach its peak in a short period, to see if this could withstand the enemy’s attack. If this failed, he would have no choice but to intervene personally.

Meanwhile, the God of Arrogance’s power of arrogance was highly corrupting. Zhao Hai had anticipated that if they encountered an enemy, the enemy’s power would likely be highly corrupting. Therefore, all Blood Slaughter Sect disciples had implemented defenses specifically designed to guard against this corrupting power. The Blood Slaughter Sect’s solution was quite simple: use corrupting power to counter corrupting power.

The Blood Slaughter Sect transformed Buddhist power into a corrupting force, forcing every disciple to learn it. This effectively corrupted the disciples, making them susceptible to any other power that might attempt to corrupt them. However, expelling this power was no easy task, as its source was Zhao Hai. All the Buddha statues in the Blood Slaughter Sect had transformed into Zhao Hai’s likeness, and the source of all Buddhist power had become him. In other words, all the disciples of the Blood Slaughter Sect were corrupted by Zhao Hai’s power. Anyone else wishing to corrupt the disciples had to overcome Zhao Hai’s influence, a formidable challenge given his immense strength. Anyone wanting to expel his power from the disciples would need to be far more powerful than Zhao Hai, which was virtually impossible.

Even if the God of Arrogance wanted to use his power of arrogance to corrupt the disciples of the Blood Slaughter Sect, he couldn’t do it, because he couldn’t expel the Buddhist power from the disciples’ bodies.

Although Zhao Hai already knew about the God of Pride, he was still researching something else: the power of Pride. He could do the same things with runic power, but not with the same smoothness and effortless ease. Because of this, Zhao Hai planned to further study this power of Pride, which was far more powerful than his current runic power.

Zhao Hai only discovered this when he created the Pride Rune. The Pride Rune was indeed filled with the power of arrogance, but it was also a rune. If Zhao Hai’s power was equal to, or even stronger than, that of the God of Pride, then the rune wouldn’t be connected to the God of Pride. After all, it was just a rune, and the power of the rune was controlled by Zhao Hai. It was like two people fighting over something that originally belonged to Zhao Hai, but now Zhao Hai’s power was weaker than the other’s, so the other wanted to take it from Zhao Hai. Zhao Hai also noticed that the other’s power was greater than his, but he wanted to know why. He considered himself quite powerful, yet the other’s power was greater. This was precisely what Zhao Hai was most curious about and most wanted to understand.

If Zhao Hai could directly access this power, he could quickly figure out what it was all about. Unfortunately, he couldn’t directly study the power of arrogance, because he knew perfectly well that if he did, the God of Arrogance would discover it, which would be too dangerous. Therefore, Zhao Hai could only study the power of arrogance slowly through observation. He wanted to see why the power of arrogance was stronger than his own.

In the following days, Zhao Hai observed the power of the God of Arrogance, constantly analyzing it. He wanted to know why the God of Arrogance’s power was stronger than his own—was it due to longer cultivation time, or something else?

If it was due to longer cultivation time, there was nothing he could do. But if it was due to something else, that would be completely different, and he would try to find a way to bridge that gap.

While observing the power of arrogance, Zhao Hai also constantly simulated it, trying to see what kind of power was closest to the power of the God of Arrogance.

He began experimenting with various powers. The power of runes alone wasn’t enough; it couldn’t compare to the power of the God of Pride. Adding Buddhist power to the power of runes didn’t work either; it still wasn’t enough. He then tried adding the power of faith, and found that while faith was indeed useful, it wasn’t sufficient. He tried removing the Buddhist power, but that didn’t work either. The Buddhist power couldn’t be removed; once it was removed, it wouldn’t be as powerful as the God of Pride. So he added the Buddhist power back into the power. Then he began trying to adjust the proportions of the three powers. After many experiments, Zhao Hai finally discovered the problem. He found that the best proportions of the three powers were equal, that is, a ratio of one to one to one. Only in this way could the simulated power most closely resemble the power of the God of Pride.

However, there’s a problem here: the proportion of faith power in the God of Arrogance’s divine power seems too high. Zhao Hai also possesses a lot of faith power, all provided by the disciples of the Blood Slaughter Sect. However, this faith power is still insufficient compared to his own power. In other words, what he lacks compared to the God of Arrogance might be this faith power.

After realizing this, Zhao Hai suddenly understood why he had always felt the need to recruit more people into the Blood Slaughter Sect and stay in the Divine Realm for a longer period before ascending. It was because of this faith power. His current faith power was insufficient, so recruiting more people into the Blood Slaughter Sect would increase his faith power, giving him the qualifications to contend with an enemy like the God of Arrogance when he reached the Upper Realm.

Zhao Hai never expected that the place where he was inferior to the God of Arrogance was actually the power of faith. This truly surprised him. However, after a moment’s thought, he understood why. It was quite simple. The reason his power of faith was less than the God of Arrogance’s was because the God of Arrogance, through a system similar to Huai’an Kingdom, had preached in countless realms. Therefore, he had countless followers, and because he had so many followers, his power of faith was also greater than Zhao Hai’s. This was precisely where he was stronger than Zhao Hai. Apart from the power of faith, in other aspects, the God of Arrogance might not actually be able to compare to Zhao Hai. (End of Chapter)
