Chapter 15968. Serious

Chen Wuxiang’s joining the Hehuan Sect didn’t cause much of a stir within the sect. Hehuan Sect was a large sect, and Chen Wuxiang’s strength had only just reached the Throne level, so it wouldn’t attract much attention. As for Zhang Jingyu’s house renovations, no one cared. Zhang Jingyu was merely an inner disciple of Hehuan Sect. While inner disciples were important to a sect, it was relative. A large sect like Hehuan Sect had many inner disciples, so naturally, no one would pay attention to whether Zhang Jingyu would renovate the house.

As for the people of Hehuan Sect, almost no one knew what feelings were. Living in that kind of environment, what kind of feelings could you expect from them? It’s important to understand that Hehuan Sect wasn’t a righteous sect; they were a standard demonic sect, so the weak relationships among their disciples were normal.

Seven days had passed since Chen Wuxiang joined the Hehuan Sect. On this day, having successfully nurtured the Blood Spirit Puppet, he followed Zhang Jingyu to the small building in the inner sect disciple management office. They then found the male cultivator from before. Upon arriving, they showed the Blood Spirit Puppet to him—a necessary step to prove he had indeed nurtured it for seven days without cheating. The male cultivator

took the puppet, glanced at it, and nodded. Suddenly, fire erupted from his hand, and the Blood Spirit Puppet vanished in an instant. He then presented Chen Wuxiang with a jade token, saying, “Congratulations, you have officially become a disciple of the Hehuan Sect.”

Chen Wuxiang smiled and said, “Thank you.” He carefully accepted the jade token and put it away before following Zhang Jingyu outside.

When the two emerged from the small building, they still attracted considerable attention. Although Chen Wuxiang had changed into the robes of the Hehuan Sect and looked much like the other disciples, people’s eyes still fell on them. The main reason was that Chen Wuxiang and Zhang Jingyu were holding hands, appearing to have a very close relationship.

It wasn’t that there were no Daoist couples in the Hehuan Sect; on the contrary, there were many. However, as Zhang Jingyu had said before, their relationship was more like a partnership. They cultivated together, but could also cultivate with others, and even nurture each other as cultivation partners. So, even as Daoist couples, there wasn’t necessarily any deep affection between them. Daoist

couples in the Hehuan Sect were different from those in other sects. In the Hehuan Sect, Daoist couples were partners, while in other sects, they often represented marriage—two completely different concepts.

Because of this, Daoist couples in the Hehuan Sect rarely had deep feelings for each other. Therefore, people were quite surprised to see Chen Wuxiang and Zhang Jingyu holding hands, which is why they stared at them so intently.

The two quickly returned to Zhang Jingyu’s cave dwelling. Now, only the two of them were there; all of Zhang Jingyu’s previous cultivation furnaces had been killed, making the cave dwelling quite deserted. However, the two quite liked the current environment.

After returning to the cave, Zhang Jingyu said to Chen Wuxiang, “Chen Lang, you are now a member of the sect, and no one will use your identity against you anymore. However, you must be careful. Our strength is improving rapidly, and it won’t be long before we reach the Imperial Chariot level. If we report this directly, it will definitely cause a sensation in the sect, so we must be careful.”

Chen Wuxiang smiled slightly and said, “Don’t worry, I know. We haven’t cultivated yet today. Let’s go cultivate.” With that, he picked up Zhang Jingyu and headed straight into the cave.

Zhang Jingyu wrapped her arms around Chen Wuxiang’s neck, her eyes brimming with tears as she looked at him, saying, “Chen Lang, we must cultivate a little longer today to celebrate your joining the sect.”

Chen Wuxiang smiled slightly at Zhang Jingyu’s expression and said, “That depends on you.”

Zhang Jingyu chuckled, and the two of them entered the cave…

The next morning, after they woke up, Zhang Jingyu asked Chen Wuxiang, “Chen Lang, are you going to stay in the cave today, or go out?”

Chen Wuxiang said in a deep voice, “I don’t need to do any sect missions right now, so I’ll stay in the cave. Although the people of the Wuxiang Sect think I’m dead, it’s better if I don’t wander around. I won’t accept any missions outside the sect, so I’ll keep a low profile for the next few years.”

Hearing Chen Wuxiang say this, Zhang Jingyu nodded and said, “Okay, I have something to do today and need to go out, but don’t worry, I’ll be back soon.” Chen Wuxiang nodded, and Zhang Jingyu kissed him before laughing and running out of the cave.

Chen Wuxiang watched Zhang Jingyu’s retreating figure, a slight smile appearing on his face. He remembered their first meeting; Zhang Jingyu had been quite arrogant then, directly attacking him and bringing him back to the Hehuan Sect. Now, however, she acted like a child.

To be honest, Chen Wuxiang didn’t necessarily have deep feelings for Zhang Jingyu. But it was because of her that he had this extraordinary encounter, and she had been genuinely kind to him. So, he had gradually developed some feelings for her, though not to the point of being unable to live without her. Of course, he certainly wouldn’t leave her now. Although he was a disciple of the Hehuan Sect, his dual cultivation with Zhang Jingyu was already quite fulfilling. He didn’t want to be separated from her; after all, he was used to being with her and there was no need to part ways. Therefore, Chen Wuxiang’s feelings for Zhang Jingyu were quite complex. He couldn’t call it love, nor could he say he felt nothing at all; he could only say he liked her, but it didn’t reach the level of love.

However, Chen Wuxiang didn’t care. His strength was improving rapidly every day. Perhaps he would have different ideas when he became even stronger. He let out a long breath, clearing his mind of all thoughts, and began practicing the cultivation technique that Zhang Jingyu had found—a technique that allowed him to conceal his true strength. Although he had already learned it, he wanted to practice it more so he could hide his power sooner.

Meanwhile, Zhang Jingyu went directly to another cave dwelling. Although the Hehuan Sect was a demonic sect where relationships between disciples were often weak, it didn’t mean they had no friends. Zhang Jingyu also had friends, and the cave dwelling she was visiting today belonged to one of them.

She had written to her friend, informing her of her visit, and thus came directly. Upon arrival, she didn’t announce her arrival but went straight into the cave dwelling.

The layout of this cave was similar to her previous cave. Upon entering, two men stood on either side of the door, bowing respectfully as soon as Zhang Jingyu entered.

On the sofa beside the tea table inside the cave sat a woman, also wearing a gauze dress that subtly revealed her beautiful figure, adding to her allure.

She was also very beautiful; there were no ugly people in the Hehuan Sect. However, her beauty differed from Zhang Jingyu’s. Zhang Jingyu’s beauty was somewhat flamboyant, possessing a mature, sophisticated air. Now, Zhang Jingyu’s demeanor had gained a touch of childlike innocence, making her even more beautiful.

This petite beauty was shorter than Zhang Jingyu, with a slightly chubby face. Sitting there, she resembled a flower bud yet to fully bloom. But what was truly astonishing was her figure—perfectly proportioned, with ample curves in all the right places. Such a figure, combined with her looks, would likely be irresistible to any man.

The pretty young woman heard the footsteps and turned to look at Zhang Jingyu. Without getting up, she smiled and said, “You’re here! Come, have a seat. What brings you here today?”

This pretty young woman was named Ye Suling. She and Zhang Jingyu were good friends, so there was no need for formalities between them. It was like a close friend coming to your house; they had a key and just opened the door, while you sat on the sofa watching TV. You probably wouldn’t even lift your eyelids, just say, “You’re here,” and then go about your business.

Zhang Jingyu walked directly to Ye Suling and sat down beside her. She looked at Ye Suling and said, “Have you not gone out these past few days? Have you heard anything about me?”

Ye Suling looked at Zhang Jingyu with some confusion and said, “I haven’t gone out these past few days. Your business? What business? By the way, I heard that when you went out on a mission last time, you captured a man? What? Did you kill him?”

Zhang Jingyu shook her head and said, “No, he joined a sect and became my Daoist partner. He just received his sect identity token yesterday.”

Ye Suling sat up straight in surprise and looked at Zhang Jingyu, saying, “Are you serious? You actually let him join a sect? And he became your Daoist partner? What were you thinking?”

Zhang Jingyu glanced at the other two men in the room and then said, “You two can leave.” The two men didn’t dare to be negligent and both glanced at Ye Suling. Ye Suling waved her hand, and the two men bowed to the two of them before turning and leaving the cave.

After the two men left, Zhang Jingyu spoke, “He is indeed different. I had my eye on him from the start, which is why I captured him. I didn’t originally intend to kill him, but I didn’t expect him to be so powerful. He could even cultivate with me, and he was willing to join the sect, so I let him join directly. Now he is my Daoist partner. I even killed all the other cultivation partners in my cave.”

Ye Suling looked at Zhang Jingyu in surprise and said, “Are you serious?” Ye Suling understood the meaning behind Zhang Jingyu’s words very well. This time, Zhang Jingyu was serious; she genuinely wanted to become Daoist partners with that man.

Although the understanding of Daoist partners in the Hehuan Sect was different from other sects, the disciples of the Hehuan Sect did interact with people from other sects, and they were not unaware of what Daoist partners were like in other sects. It was just that in the Hehuan Sect, they dared not invest their feelings. That was why, when Ye Suling heard Zhang Jingyu say that he had killed all the cultivation partners, she immediately knew that Zhang Jingyu was serious this time. (End of this chapter)
