Chapter 15955 Greed

Xuanming Sect is a small sect. They don’t even have a single Kingdom-level expert. The strongest sect in this region is Xuanying Sect, a legitimate Xuanmen sect. Xuanming Sect could also be considered a legitimate Xuanmen sect, but they lack the strength. Even if they claimed to be a legitimate Xuanmen sect, no one would believe them. The

current sect leader of Xuanming Sect is Daoist Xuanqing, whose strength is currently only at the King City level. Therefore, their sect can only be considered a small sect.

The cultivation method practiced by Xuanming Sect is indeed a legitimate Xuanmen method. Their cultivation progresses very slowly, but it is balanced and peaceful, accumulating strength gradually until it becomes powerful. It is precisely because of this that Xuanming Sect lacks Kingdom-level experts; reaching the Kingdom level with their cultivation method is simply too difficult.

The Xuanming Sect emphasizes tranquility and non-action. Their disciples primarily cultivate their character, so most are non-competitive and avoid conflict. This very non-competitive nature makes it increasingly difficult for the sect to improve its strength.

However, they possess a unique skill in drawing talismans. Their talismans are 30% more powerful than those of the same level drawn by other sects—a remarkable feat. Therefore, although their sect isn’t particularly strong, they live a carefree life.

Master Xuanqing is meditating in his room. Although he is the sect leader, he still dedicates a significant amount of time to meditation every day. The main reason for this is that meditation is essential for cultivation within their sect, requiring him to devote considerable time to it daily.

Normally, when Master Xuanqing meditated, he could sit for hours without any problems. But today, he felt restless, causing him to frown. He opened his eyes, and with a flick of his hand, a bronze tortoise shell appeared in his palm. The shell wasn’t large, only about the size of a palm; it was just a shell. After taking out the shell, Master Xuanqing took out several large bronze coins and placed them inside the shell. He gently shook the shell a few times, then poured the coins out. After examining the yin and yang of the coins, his expression changed slightly. The hexagram displayed on the coins was the “Heaven and Earth Opposition” hexagram, a very ominous sign, indicating misfortune in all matters.

Master Xuanqing frowned, truly puzzled. What could possibly be wrong with their sect? For so many years, their sect hadn’t offended anyone, always peacefully going about its business. Logically, their sect shouldn’t be in any trouble, right?

Just then, a vortex suddenly appeared above Master Xuanqing’s head. His expression changed instantly, and he darted to the side. As

soon as he moved, something fell from the vortex, and the vortex vanished along with it.

Master Xuanqing was stunned. He glanced at the spot where the vortex had appeared. He sensed a completely unfamiliar aura emanating from it, an aura that was definitely not created by anyone. Instead, it seemed to belong to another realm—ancient, ancient, and incredibly powerful.

Now that the vortex was gone, Master Xuanqing stared in astonishment at what had fallen from it: a statue.

Master Xuanqing walked to the statue, which appeared to be carved from wood and now rested steadily on the ground. Master Xuanqing carefully examined the statue. It depicted a refined man, impeccably dressed, holding several gemstones in his hands, his face filled with greed.

Master Xuanqing frowned as he looked at the statue; it was unsettling and disliked him. With a flick of his wrist, a fireball appeared in his hand, which he then hurled at the statue, intending to destroy it.

After releasing the fireball, he was cautious, fearing the statue might react in any way, so he could react immediately if it attacked him.

However, to Master Xuanqing’s surprise, the fireball struck the statue directly, and it immediately burst into flames. Once the statue was ablaze, Master Xuanqing breathed a sigh of relief.

But the next moment, a golden light suddenly shot out from the fireball. This golden light arrived incredibly fast, striking Master Xuanqing directly. He had no time to react; it was all too sudden.

The moment the golden light struck Master Xuanqing, his body froze, and the statue burst into flames, turning into a pile of ashes in the blink of an eye. Master Xuanqing then moved. His appearance remained unchanged, but his eyes had shifted. He glanced around, his eyes filled with greed. However, he quickly regained his composure, his eyes clearing once more. With a wave of his hand, the pile of ashes on the ground vanished, and Master Xuanqing walked away.

As soon as he stepped outside, a young Taoist disciple bowed to Master Xuanqing, who nodded in return. Then, he headed towards the back mountain of the Xuanming Sect. The Xuanming Sect was built on a mountain, and the back mountain was its forbidden area, containing a warehouse holding all of the sect’s wealth.

Master Xuanqing quickly arrived at one of the warehouses. In front of the warehouse stood a small house where an old Taoist priest lived. This old priest was a King-level expert of the Xuanming Sect, one of the few truly powerful figures within the sect. He was specifically tasked with guarding this warehouse, the lifeblood of the Xuanming Sect.

The old priest was sweeping the courtyard. Upon seeing Master Xuanqing, he was startled, then smiled slightly and said, “Sect Master, what brings you here?” This old priest was a Supreme Elder of the sect, a generation higher than Xuanqing, so he naturally didn’t stand on ceremony when speaking to him.

Master Xuanqing smiled and said, “I’ve come to check the contents of this warehouse. Uncle, you go ahead with your work.” As the sect leader, it was no problem for him to inspect the warehouse, so the old Taoist didn’t say anything, just nodded, and continued sweeping the courtyard.

Master Xuanqing went directly to a cave next to the small house. He walked into the cave, which wasn’t very big. The entrance was only about 10 feet high and 3 feet wide. Inside, the area was much larger, about 20 feet high, 20 feet wide, and 20 feet deep. It looked like an ordinary cave. In the Xuanmen sect, caves like this were quite common. Some disciples believed in solitary cultivation, so they would casually dig such caves to cultivate in seclusion. Therefore, such small caves were very common.

After entering the cave, Master Xuanqing first went to the left cave wall and knocked on it. Then he went to the right cave wall and knocked on it again. Finally, he went to the innermost cave and knocked on it there as well. The next moment, the cave floor suddenly sank down, going down nearly a hundred meters before stopping. At this point, they had arrived at an even larger underground cave. This cave was very large and naturally formed, with many stalagmites inside. However, there were many large boxes placed in this cave, and the lids of the boxes were all closed, so it was impossible to see what was inside.

Master Xuanqing walked to a box, opened it, and found it filled with spatial bags. His eyes gleamed with greed as he looked at the bags. With a wave of his hand, he collected them all. He then went to another box, opened it, and collected all the spatial bags inside. He continued in this manner, opening each box one by one and collecting all the spatial bags.

Only after all the spatial bags were collected did a satisfied expression appear on Master Xuanqing’s face. He then walked directly to the cave entrance, and the platform rose back onto the ground, quickly returning him to the small cave.

Upon returning to the small cave, Master Xuanqing emerged. The old Taoist priest, still sweeping the courtyard, greeted him with a smile, “How is it?” Master Xuanqing

smiled slightly, “Very good. Our sect’s resources are growing stronger; this is a good thing. Uncle-Master, you’ve worked hard all these years, always guarding this place.”

The old Taoist priest smiled, “Sect Master, you’re too kind. This is what I should do.” Master Xuanqing smiled

, “I’ve brought you a gift this time, Uncle-Master. Please take a look.” He then extended his hand to the old Taoist priest. The old Taoist priest was startled, staring at Xuanqing’s hand. The next moment, a ball of golden light suddenly emerged from Xuanqing’s hand, shooting directly into the old Taoist priest’s body. The old Taoist priest couldn’t dodge it; the golden light struck his face directly.

The old Taoist priest froze on the spot, and after a while, he moved again. He then bowed to Master Xuanqing and said, “Greetings, Divine Envoy.”

Master Xuanqing nodded and said, “Good, we are now both divine envoys of the God of Greed. I am the Great Divine Envoy, and you are the Second Divine Envoy. This is for you. What you need to do next is to turn everyone else in the sect into members of our Divine Cult. Our Greedy Divine Cult will unify the entire Divine Realm and make all the good things here ours.”

The old Taoist priest nodded, his eyes also filled with greed. Master Xuanqing then said, “Let’s go, we’ll go to the second warehouse…” “The things in the warehouse will be divided equally between you and Elder Xuanjing, who guards the second warehouse. I plan to make him the third Divine Envoy. Our sect will only have three Divine Envoys; everyone else will be followers.”

The old Taoist’s eyes gleamed with even greater greed. Without hesitation, he followed Elder Xuanqing towards the second warehouse. A sect like theirs couldn’t possibly have only one warehouse. Otherwise, if something were to happen and their contents were stolen, they would be finished. Therefore, they had two warehouses, partly because their sect was relatively small. Larger sects would have many more warehouses. (End of Chapter)
