Chapter 15951: Eating Spirit Stones

Elder Jia looked at Ran Wen with some confusion. Ran Wen said to Elder Jia, “Elder, I’ve already tried it before. We can eat not only meat, but anything containing energy. I didn’t eat spirit stones before because I didn’t have any. Today, I want to ask Elder Jia for a few spirit stones to see how much energy we can get from eating one. Is that alright?”

Elder Jia was taken aback, then immediately nodded and said, “Sure, of course. Here are ten spirit stones. Take them and see how they work.”

Elder Jia also wanted to know how much energy these spirit stones could bring them. If using spirit stones was more cost-effective, then they would use them and save themselves from eating so much beast meat every day.

Ran Wen accepted the spirit stone, bowed to Elder Jia, and said, “Thank you, Elder. I’ll go back to cultivate now.”

Elder Jia nodded, and Ran Wen returned to his room. He immediately went into his bedroom, sat on a futon, and took out a spirit stone. These spirit stones were all standardized; each one was rectangular, ten centimeters long, five centimeters wide, and three centimeters thick. This was the standard size of a spirit stone.

In other words, after being mined, spirit stones needed to be cut. The magical tool used to cut spirit stones was a special one. This tool was water-attribute, but different from ordinary water-attribute tools. It had a layer of water rotating on its surface, and it cut the spirit stone using this rotating water. Therefore, this tool was also called a water knife. If you used any other magical tool to cut a spirit stone, it would generally explode. Therefore, spirit stones could only be cut with a water knife.

Of course, this doesn’t mean the scraps are useless. In fact, they are a form of currency, called spirit crystals by lower-level cultivators. Spirit crystals can be used to buy things, though the amount is usually limited. Ran Wen, for example, had used spirit crystals before; ordinary disciples use them quite often.

Ran Wen didn’t have any spirit stones before. Even if he did, he needed them to buy things, so he had never used them. That’s why he tried asking Elder Jia for some today, and to his surprise, Elder Jia actually gave him ten spirit stones—a considerable sum for Ran Wen.

However, for Ran Wen now, it’s not a huge amount. He’s now an inner disciple of the sect, and his monthly benefits include spirit stones—thirty spirit stones per month. But since he’s only recently become an inner disciple, these benefits haven’t been given to him yet, so he doesn’t have any spirit stones on hand.

Ran Wen examined the spirit stone closely. Then, with a flick of his hand, a ball of water enveloped it. The water sphere spun and then disappeared. Ran Wen wanted to wash the spirit stone; it had passed through countless hands, and although it looked clean, it was actually quite dirty. So, of course, he wanted to wash it before eating it.

After washing the spirit stone, Ran Wen looked at it again. It was a bit long, but Ran Wen decided to try and see if he could eat it. He was quite confident in his teeth.

Ran Wen picked up the spirit stone and put it directly into his mouth. He wanted to bite, but he was a little worried. But at that moment, a sudden impulse rose from the bottom of his heart. He wanted to bite, he wanted to eat the spirit stone. Before he could react, his body had already moved, and his teeth directly bit into the spirit stone.

The next moment, the incredibly hard spirit stone seemed to turn into a biscuit, and Ran Wen bit it in half without it exploding.

Ran Wen was taken aback, then overjoyed. He immediately began chewing, quickly crushing the spirit stone completely before swallowing it. He then put the remaining half of the spirit stone in his mouth, chewed it, and swallowed it as well.

Once the spirit stone entered his stomach, it immediately transformed into energy. Ran Wen sensed that the digestion speed of the spirit stone was slower than that of the beast meat; it took quite a while for the spirit stone to be completely digested. The energy provided by this one spirit stone was roughly equivalent to that of three hundred catties of beast meat. This discovery delighted Ran Wen, because he knew very well that one spirit stone couldn’t buy three hundred catties of beast meat, but the energy contained in one spirit stone was equivalent to three hundred catties of beast meat. In other words, eating spirit stones was more cost-effective than eating beast meat.

He immediately digested all the energy in this spirit stone, then took out another spirit stone, ate it, and digested its energy as well. After digesting two spirit stones, he realized he couldn’t eat any more, because he couldn’t digest them.

This discovery made Ran Wen frown. He had calculated that if he ate beast meat, he could digest up to 800 jin of beast meat per day, but with spirit stones, he could only digest the equivalent of 600 jin of beast meat’s spiritual energy per day. This seemed a bit unreasonable. However, Ran Wen then realized that if he wanted to digest 800 jin of beast meat, he wouldn’t even have time to rest. But if he digested 600 jin of beast meat, he would still have at least three hours to rest, which was very important to him.

Thinking of this, Ran Wen couldn’t help but breathe a sigh

of relief. He felt that eating spirit stones was more cost-effective than eating beast meat, and it seemed that he would have to eat spirit stones from now on. Although he had eaten a wild boar and a seven-colored rhinoceros at once before, and those beasts weighed more than a thousand pounds, that was a special case. He used that energy to upgrade at the time, which is why he could eat so much at once. Normally, he couldn’t eat that much during cultivation.

The next morning, Ran Wen arrived at the courtyard, followed by the other disciples. Elder Jia also emerged from his room, distributing beast meat to the other ten disciples and instructing them to return and cultivate. Finally, he looked at Ran Wen, who understood Elder Jia’s meaning. He immediately said, “Elder, I can only eat a maximum of two spirit stones a day. The energy of one spirit stone is roughly equivalent to three hundred jin of beast meat. However, the energy of spirit stones is likely purer and harder to digest, so I can only eat a maximum of two. But if I were to eat beast meat, I could consume a maximum of eight hundred jin a day. However, to digest eight hundred jin of beast meat, I would need ten…” “Two hours, but if I want to digest the energy of these two spirit stones, it will only take me a little over eight hours, less than nine hours. So I think eating spirit stones is more cost-effective.”

Elder Jia was taken aback when he heard this, then his eyes lit up. He continued, “How did you eat the spirit stones? Did you swallow them?”

Ran Wen shook his head and said, “Just like eating ordinary food, I chewed them up and swallowed them directly. There was no explosion.”

Elder Jia nodded and said, “Good, you still have eight spirit stones. I’ll give them to you after you finish eating them. Go and cultivate.” Ran Wen responded, then bowed to Elder Jia and turned to go back to his room.

Elder Jia also returned to his room. His room was larger than the others’ rooms, so he had a separate meditation room. After sitting down in the meditation room, he took out a spirit stone, examined it carefully, then used a water-based spell to wash the spirit stone. Then he picked up the spirit stone and tried to bite it.

To his surprise, he couldn’t even bite it, which startled Elder Jia. His face darkened. Could Ran Wen have lied to him? No, that was impossible. Ran Wen still needed spirit stones from him; he couldn’t possibly be lying. So why? Why could Ran Wen eat spirit stones, but he couldn’t? Elder

Jia stared at the spirit stone, recalling Ran Wen’s words. Ran Wen said he could only eat two spirit stones a day at most because they were difficult to digest. Right, spirit stones were difficult to digest. Was his inability to eat spirit stones also due to this? Or perhaps it was because he hadn’t received the Gluttony God’s blessing long enough to be able to eat spirit stones yet?

Elder Jia put away the spirit stone and murmured, “So, this blessing from the God of Gluttony can also be upgraded. Only when a certain level is reached can one consume spirit stones. If the time is too short, it’s impossible to consume spirit stones; one can only eat beast meat.”

Thinking of this, Elder Jia sighed, “This situation must be reported.”

The next morning, Elder Jia inquired about the other disciples’ cultivation progress and found they were advancing rapidly, almost reaching the Qi level. He recorded all of this. Then, he called Ran Wen to his room alone. After they entered the room, Elder Jia had Ran Wen sit down, and then he said, “Yesterday I tried, and I found that I still can’t consume spirit stones. It seems that to consume spirit stones, one must reach a certain level. In other words, to consume spirit stones, one must…” “You need the blessing of the God of Gluttony to upgrade. When did you start being able to eat spirit stones?”

Upon hearing this, Ran Wen was taken aback, then frowned and said in a deep voice, “Replying to Elder, I’ve never eaten spirit stones before, so I don’t know when I could start. However, I remember doing an experiment. Two months after receiving the blessing of the God of Gluttony, I tried eating a stone, and I crushed it. I don’t know if I could eat spirit stones at that time.”

Elder Jia nodded and said, “I see. Two months? That’s worth a try. Alright, go back and cultivate diligently. If you ever find that you can digest more spirit stones, you must tell me.” Ran Wen responded, then stood up, bowed to Elder Jia, and turned to leave.

After Ran Wen left, Elder Jia murmured, “Two months? That’s not a very long time. We can wait.” He then returned to his room to cultivate.

Time passed day by day. On the tenth day after they arrived at the courtyard, the ten disciples successively broke through to the Qi level. Each of them digested approximately three hundred jin of beast meat that day, and subsequently, they all broke through to the Qi level, which greatly excited them. (End of Chapter)
