Chapter 15945: The Seven-Colored Rhinoceros

This time, he was aiming to upgrade to the Throne level. To ensure his success, Ran Wen decided to find a stronger demonic beast. Stronger beasts contained more spiritual energy in their flesh, allowing him to absorb more and guaranteeing a successful upgrade.

Ran Wen, who was moving forward, suddenly stopped. He glanced at a tree beside him, where a strangely shaped bird was perched. The bird wasn’t very large, but its beak was very long and pointed. Its feathers were also very colorful, making it look quite beautiful.

When Ran Wen saw the bird, his heart tightened. He recognized it; he had seen it in a book about various demonic beasts in his sect. This bird was called the Seven-Colored Rhinoceros. The reason it was called a rhinoceros was because its beak was actually a very high-quality refining material. It could be used to forge a magical weapon called the Rainbow Rhinoceros Blade. This magical weapon was very powerful. When used, it could emit seven-colored light, which could immobilize the enemy’s magical weapon. This was an extremely powerful ability. Imagine, when you were fighting an enemy, the seven-colored light on your blade would flash, and then the enemy’s magical weapon would be unable to move. Your magical weapon could then seize the opportunity to attack and kill the enemy.

This seven-colored divine light is the bird’s innate magic, making it extremely difficult to deal with. Despite its small size, even smaller than a domestic chicken, this bird possesses formidable fighting power. Its beak is practically indestructible; a single peck from it will shatter ordinary magical artifacts. Furthermore, the bird can emit seven-colored light to immobilize magical artifacts, making its combat strength truly terrifying.

Of course, the seven-colored rhinoceros is also a highly sought-after prey for all cultivators. Killing one and crafting its beak into a magical artifact would be of immense benefit to a cultivator.

Of course, the Seven-Colored Rhinoceros’s seven-colored divine light cannot truly immobilize all magical artifacts. If one’s strength is one level higher than the Seven-Colored Rhinoceros, then the Seven-Colored Rhinoceros’s seven-colored divine light cannot immobilize the magical artifacts released by the opponent; it can only slow down the opponent’s magical artifacts. If one’s strength is two levels higher than the Seven-Colored Rhinoceros, then its seven-colored divine light is useless. Magical artifacts made from the Seven-Colored Rhinoceros’s beak have the same problem. But even so, it is already quite remarkable. At least for people of equal strength, such magical artifacts are still very useful.

Of course, for someone like Ran Wen, the Seven-Colored Rhinoceros is also a rather difficult bird to deal with. This bird is very strong, and for someone like Ran Wen, encountering such a bird is not easy.

However, Ran Wen was well aware that dealing with this bird would not be easy. Nevertheless, he still wanted to subdue the Seven-Colored Rhinoceros, as they were extremely rare. Now that he had found one, how could he let it go? Moreover, this Seven-Colored Rhinoceros didn’t seem very strong, at most at the Qi level. If it were stronger, Ran Wen would have a much harder time dealing with it.

Most importantly, despite its small size, the Seven-Colored Rhinoceros’s strength was unrelated to its size. Its body contained immense energy, meaning that consuming it would yield energy comparable to consuming a larger beast of the same level.

Thinking this, Ran Wen breathed a sigh of relief. He glanced around, then at the Seven-Colored Rhinoceros, and smiled slightly. With a flick of his wrist, his flying sword appeared, and he thrust it straight at the Seven-Colored Rhinoceros.

The seven-colored rhinoceros has a very interesting characteristic: it’s incredibly bold, and a bit silly—basically, recklessly bold. They’re generally not afraid of people; instead, they’ll stand there curiously watching you. If you attack it, it will attack you in return. So, once you attack this bird, it usually won’t run away unless one of you dies.

The seven-colored rhinoceros had initially just been curiously watching Ran Wen, but now that it saw Ran Wen attack, its feathers stood on end. Then, it flapped its wings and took flight, letting out a croaking sound as it flew. Although these birds are very beautiful, their calls are quite unpleasant, like a frog’s.

Ran Wen flicked his finger, and the next moment, his flying sword shot straight at the seven-colored rhinoceros. The rhinoceros flashed with seven-colored light, and the flying sword stopped abruptly. Then, the seven-colored rhinoceros charged straight at Ran Wen, its large beak gleaming with a cold light.

Ran Wen had anticipated this. With a flick of his hand, a talisman appeared in his palm, which he then tossed out. The talisman immediately burst into flames, and a massive fireball hurtled towards the Seven-Colored Rhinoceros. The

Seven-Colored Rhinoceros flashed its seven-colored light again, and the fireball was frozen in mid-air. Then, the rhinoceros, like an arrow, pierced through the fireball and charged straight at Ran Wen. At

this moment, a strange smile appeared on Ran Wen’s face. He flipped his hand, revealing three more talismans, which immediately ignited. A tremendous force appeared before Ran Wen.

The next moment, the Seven-Colored Rhinoceros rushed into this gravity zone, as if it had been caught and thrown directly to the ground. With a thud, the Seven-Colored Rhinoceros was thrown around, completely dazed. Ran Wen then moved his hand, and another flying sword appeared in his hand. He then thrust the sword straight at the Seven-Colored Rhinoceros.

But the next moment, the Seven-Colored Rhinoceros flashed with seven-colored light, and Ran Wen’s sword could no longer penetrate it. Upon seeing this, Ran Wen’s expression changed. He realized that not only was his sword immobile, but even his arm was stuck. At this moment, the Seven-Colored Rhinoceros shook its head, slowly stood up, and stared intently at Ran Wen with its two small eyes before charging straight at him.

Fortunately, the gravity talisman was still working, and the Seven-Colored Rhinoceros wasn’t moving very fast. Seeing this, Ran Wen snorted coldly. Then, with a thought, he moved his other hand, unleashing a sword aura that slashed directly at the Seven-Colored Rhinoceros. They were so close that the rhinoceros couldn’t dodge, and Ran Wen’s sword aura struck its neck, sending its head flying.

The instant the rhinoceros’s head was severed, Ran Wen felt his sword return to its normal movement, and his other flying sword fell from the sky. Ran Wen breathed a sigh of relief; he knew the Seven-Colored Rhinoceros was dead, which was why his Seven-Colored Divine Light had failed.

Ran Wen let out a long breath, then walked to the Seven-Colored Rhinoceros’s side and examined it closely. The Seven-Colored Rhinoceros was truly beautiful; its feathers could actually be used to make magical artifacts. A Seven-Colored Fan made from its feathers was a highly sought-after artifact among female cultivators. This type of fan couldn’t emit seven-colored divine light, but its defensive capabilities were extremely strong, especially against spells of all elements.

Ran Wen plucked all the Seven-Colored Rhinoceros’s feathers, then put its head away, processed its internal organs, roasted its body, and then stored the Seven-Colored Rhinoceros away.

The Seven-Colored Rhinoceros’s meat was too scarce. Although it was also a Qi-level beast and might even help Ran Wen level up, he wanted to be on the safe side. So, he didn’t level up immediately but continued forward. Soon, he saw another boar-shaped demon beast. This boar-shaped demon beast was also a Qi-level beast, but it was enormous, weighing around a thousand pounds. Its skin was thick and its flesh was tough, with two long tusks that looked like two curved blades. It was rooting around in the forest.

When Ran Wen saw this beast, his eyes lit up. Wild beasts were different from the Seven-Colored Rhinoceros. The Seven-Colored Rhinoceros used a large portion of its power on its Seven-Colored Divine Light, so although it was a Qi-level beast, the energy contained in its meat was incomparable to that of a Qi-level beast like a wild boar. If he could hunt this wild boar, he would have enough energy to level up.

Thinking of this, Ran Wen moved his hand, and the longsword appeared in his grasp. He then formed a hand seal, pointing his fingers together to create a sword shape, and said in a deep voice, “Thrust!”

With his voice, the longsword thrust directly at the boar. The boar seemed to notice the danger and immediately turned its head to look in Ran Wen’s direction. Upon seeing the flying sword, a yellow light flashed on the boar’s body, and a layer of mud armor appeared on its body. The longsword then pierced directly into the mud armor, and with a bang, the mud armor shattered. The longsword pierced the boar, but because the armor blocked most of the force of the sword, the piercing was not deep enough to kill the boar.

Wild boars are notoriously vengeful. If you hit one, it will attack you furiously. Just like that, Ran Wen stabbed the boar with his sword, and the boar’s eyes turned red instantly. It lowered its head and charged straight at Ran Wen. Ran Wen moved swiftly, leaping into the air. Simultaneously, with a flick of his wrist, the flying sword was pulled from the boar’s body and flew back to his side. Then, Ran Wen reached out and grabbed the hilt, pulling it close and staring intently at the boar. His face was filled with boundless rage. The next moment, a giant sword over ten feet long appeared above Ran Wen’s head. Ran Wen then swung the sword, and with his movement, the giant sword slashed directly at the boar.

When the wild boar saw Ran Wen take flight, it initially intended to use magic to pull him down. However, the giant sword was already above its head in the next instant. Given the boar’s limited intelligence, it couldn’t comprehend what was happening. The sword then struck Ran Wen, cleaving him in two and leaving a deep, nearly ten-zhang-long (approximately 33 meters) sword wound in the ground. The wound was about a meter deep, and everything in its path, whether rock or tree, was cleaved in two.

Ran Wen let out a long breath, glanced at the boar on the ground, and a smile appeared on his face. He then landed, collected the boar, and turned to leave. (End of Chapter)
