Chapter 15936. The Duel

Shi Yongyan opened the door and glanced inside. It was a decent room, though a bit small. There was only one room, with a small table in the middle, a futon behind it, a bed next to it, and a cabinet beside the bed. That was all; it wasn’t even as nice as Shi Yongyan’s previous room.

However, Shi Yongyan didn’t see anything wrong with the room. These people didn’t need to cultivate, so they didn’t need any quiet rooms. Shi Yongyan nodded with satisfaction and said, “Okay, thank you, Senior Brother.”

The disciple nodded, then glanced at Shi Yongyan and said, “The rest is up to you. If you can’t hold on and want to leave, you don’t need to say goodbye. Just leave. But remember, take this sign with you before you go.” He then took out a sign from his spatial storage and placed it in a designated place for signs next to the door. The sign only had the character “sleep” on it, a reminder that someone was in the room.

Shi Yongyan nodded. He was about to say something more when the monk waved his hand and left. Seeing him gone, Shi Yongyan didn’t say anything more, went into his room, closed the door, and spread his bedding on the bed. He didn’t take anything else out, but instead took out a fasting pill, swallowed it, and immediately lay down on the bed, falling fast asleep.

What Shi Yongyan didn’t know was that the monk who had led him there, though seemingly gone, hadn’t actually left. After Shi Yongyan entered the room, he reappeared at his door. However, he seemed to be under some kind of magical formation, completely concealing his aura, so Shi Yongyan didn’t notice him at all.

The disciple listened intently to the sounds coming from Shi Yongyan’s room. He quickly heard Shi Yongyan fall asleep, and a satisfied expression appeared on his face. He was now certain that Shi Yongyan was also a follower of the God of Laziness; otherwise, he wouldn’t be behaving this way. Only then did he leave.

Thus, Shi Yongyan officially joined the Dream Hall. He still woke up every ten days, took a fasting pill, and then went back to sleep. The others in the Dream Hall did similar things, but strangely enough, disciples continued to join, and soon the courtyard of the Dream Hall couldn’t hold them all.

The others in Shifo Temple also knew about this. They all looked at each other in dismay. Initially, they agreed to establish the Sleeping Dream Hall out of respect for the sect’s Supreme Elder. They thought no disciples would join the Sleeping Dream Hall, but out of courtesy, they still gave the Supreme Elder a large courtyard and allowed him to recruit people from across the sect. They thought the elder wouldn’t be able to recruit anyone, but unexpectedly, he actually recruited quite a few people. This surprised and angered the people in Shifo Temple. In their eyes, those who joined the Sleeping Dream Hall were all good-for-nothing disciples, and they had almost given up on them.

But they didn’t expect that in just a few months, so many disciples had joined the Sleeping Dream Hall. The large courtyard, which could hold hundreds of people, was already overflowing. This was no small matter. If hundreds of disciples slept all day, they would all be ruined. The sect couldn’t possibly support all these people.

So when the Supreme Elder came to Shi Kongming, the head of Shifo Temple, to ask for a courtyard, Shi Kongming frowned. He looked at the elder, who was quite handsome, not tall, with an unusual appearance, and long, thin eyebrows that reached all the way to the corners of his mouth, giving him a kind and benevolent air.

However, he was sitting there casually, completely unlike a high-ranking monk. Shi Kongming looked at the Supreme Elder and said, “Uncle-Master Jueqing, isn’t your Dream Hall developing too fast? You know the situation of the sect. If all the disciples join your Dream Hall, what will happen to their cultivation? I’ve heard that those who join your Dream Hall hardly cultivate at all, and you’ve never given them any guidance. Won’t that ruin those disciples? Uncle-Master, for the sake of the sect, you can’t recruit any more people.”

Shi Jueqing glanced at Shi Kongming, then said, “How about this? I’ll give you a chance. You choose ten disciples, and I’ll choose ten disciples from the Dream Hall. We’ll have a competition to see if my Dream Hall disciples have improved. If their strength has improved, even surpassing that of disciples who cultivate normally, then you must allow my Dream Hall to exist, and you must also allow me to recruit more people. What do you say?” Shi Kongming

was taken aback, then looked at Shi Jueqing and said, “Uncle-Master, you’re so confident?”

Shi Jueqing smiled and said, “Of course I’m confident… ” “Okay, so what do you think? Do you agree? I need to make this clear to you. All the disciples who joined the Sleeping Dream Hall were registered beforehand. Their strength is easily verifiable. We’ll record their strength before joining, their strength upon joining, and their current strength. You can compare them later.”

Shi Kongming nodded and said, “Alright, that’s settled then. I’ll choose ten disciples, and you’ll choose ten as well. We’ll have a competition in three days. If your disciples win, then your Sleeping Dream Hall can continue to exist, and you can recruit as many people as you want. To be honest, if sleeping could increase strength, I’d want to join your Sleeping Dream Hall myself.”

Shi Jueqing smiled and said, “Don’t worry, I believe you’ll join us sooner or later.”

Shi Kongming didn’t seem to care, taking Shi Jueqing’s words as a joke. The two chatted for a few more minutes, and then Shi Jueqing left. Watching Shi Jueqing leave, Shi Kongming couldn’t help but sigh softly. Then he called out, “Someone come here.” Immediately, a young novice monk entered and bowed respectfully to Shi Kongming.

Shi Kongming said, “Notify the Bodhi Hall to select ten elite disciples. We will have a competition with the Sleeping Dream Hall in three days.” The young novice monk was stunned for a moment, then he responded and turned to leave.

Meanwhile, Shi Jueqing had already returned to the Sleeping Dream Hall. Upon arriving, he coughed lightly, his voice not loud, but everyone in the courtyard heard him, waking all who were sleeping. The next moment,

they heard Shi Jueqing’s voice: “Three days later, the sect will select ten disciples to compete against us. If we win, the Sleeping Dream Hall will not only continue to exist, but will exist forever. However, if we lose, the Sleeping Dream Hall will likely disband. Therefore, three days later, all participating disciples must be careful, and can only win, not lose. Oh, and remember, three days later, during the competition, everyone should prepare yourselves and not let anyone see any flaws.” After saying this, Shi Jueqing stopped speaking.

Shi Yongyan and the others, however, didn’t react to Shi Jueqing’s words. After realizing he was finished, they went back to sleep. It wasn’t that they hadn’t heard him; they were simply too lazy to speak or move.

Three days passed quickly. Shi Jueqing woke everyone up again. Shi Yongyan also got up, tidied himself up, and then came out of his room. No one would have guessed that he had slept for a long time.

When they arrived at the training ground in the first courtyard, they found Shi Jueqing already waiting for them. Shi Jueqing said, “Come with me. This competition will be held in the training ground.”

The training ground was the largest square in Shifo Temple. It wasn’t for ordinary disciples to practice martial arts. Of course, ordinary disciples could come here to practice, but if they damaged it, they would have to be repaired. So no disciple would come here to practice, because they were body cultivators, and they might damage it while practicing. It would be very embarrassing to have to repair it themselves.

Shi Jueqing led the people from the Sleeping Dream Hall to the martial arts arena quickly. The arena was already packed with people. In the center was an open space of about ten thousand square meters, paved with bluestone. Outside this area were rows of steps for seating, all of which were now occupied, everyone watching the arena. On

either side of the arena were rest areas, each capable of seating dozens of people, furnished with stone chairs. On one side, a group of people were seated, led by a monk who appeared to be in his fifties. He was very tall, with a serious expression, a full beard, and piercing eyes; sitting there, he resembled an iron tower.

Beside him sat ten disciples, all also with serious expressions, sitting upright, their eyes fixed straight ahead, waiting for Shi Jueqing and his group.

When Shi Jueqing led the disciples of the Sleeping Dream Hall here, everyone’s eyes were focused on them. Shi Jueqing, however, ignored them and walked directly to a chair on the other side. He then waved his hand and said, “Let’s begin.”

The towering monk opposite him looked at Shi Jueqing, bowed to him, and said, “Uncle Jueqing, then I must offend you. Shi Yongshan, you come.”

A disciple stood up from beside him, responded loudly, bowed to the towering monk, and then walked to the center of the arena. Once there, he bowed to Shi Jueqing again and stood there waiting.

Shi Jueqing simply nodded, then waved his hand. The monk who had previously interacted with Shi Yongyan stood up, bowed respectfully to Shi Yongshan, and said, “May I ask how strong you are, senior brother? This will allow us to choose a suitable opponent.”

Shi Yongshan was taken aback, then replied, “Third level of the Yellow Stone rank.”

The monk nodded and said, “Good, that junior brother’s strength has reached the third level of the Yellow Stone rank. He can come up and fight.” His words surprised everyone; no one expected him to do this, choosing an opponent on the spot. This seemed to be a blatant disregard for Shi Yongshan. (End of Chapter)
