Chapter 15935: The Hall of Dreams

Just as Shi Yongyan was about to take another pill and continue sleeping, he discovered that he was out of Bigu Pills. He was stunned for a moment, then stood up, his feet touched the ground, and he stretched. A series of cracking sounds came from his bones. Shi Yongyan let out a long breath, then glanced at the room. He hadn’t planned to tidy up, but after thinking about it, he decided to do so. He then moved his hand, and a talisman appeared in his hand. He activated the talisman, and the next moment it transformed into a small whirlwind, spinning around the room. The whirlwind was very light; it seemed to blow nothing but dust. After circling the room once, the whirlwind disappeared. In a corner of the room, there was a small mound of dust.

Shi Yongyan glanced at the pile of dirt but said nothing. Then he looked at his body, and with a thought, a flash of light appeared on his clothes, and all the dust disappeared, leaving his clothes neat and tidy. He then touched his hair, which had grown quite long; all the hair fell out. He tidied up the room briefly, making it look the same as before.

Actually, he didn’t want to tidy up, but he had to. He worried that if he didn’t, others would see him like this, arousing suspicion and causing even more trouble.

Shi Yongyan looked at the room and then at himself, finding nothing amiss. He prepared to leave, but immediately stopped. He then tested his strength and discovered that he had reached the second level of the Azure Stone Realm, which greatly surprised him.

This was good news for him, but he was now facing a dilemma. If he went to the Arhat Hall to register and said he had reached the Azure Stone Realm, would it arouse suspicion? After all, his strength had increased too quickly, and this would definitely arouse the sect’s suspicion.

Shi Yongyan thought about it and decided not to report it yet. He would prepare more Bigu Pills, and when he returned, he would say that he was going into seclusion for a few years before emerging and saying that his strength had increased by two levels. That way, no one would suspect him.

Thinking of all this, Shi Yongyan went straight outside. As soon as he stepped out of the room, he saw several people sitting in the courtyard. They were all taken aback when they saw him, and then one of them said, “Junior Brother Yongyan, it’s been a while since we’ve seen you.”

Not wanting to give anyone away, Shi Yongyan smiled and said, “I’ve been in seclusion recently. I’m sorry to have troubled you senior brothers.”

A monk smiled and said, “Junior Brother, you’re too kind. Come, sit down and chat for a bit. While you were in seclusion, something big happened in the temple.”

Hearing this, Shi Yongyan’s heart stirred. He hadn’t been in contact with anyone for some time and didn’t know much about the sect’s affairs. Now was a good opportunity to hear what had happened in the sect, so he smiled and sat down, saying, “Alright, I really didn’t know what happened in the sect.” He then sat down. There was a stone table and benches in the courtyard, enough to seat seven or eight people, and there were still seats available.

After Shi Yongyan sat down, the monk smiled and said, “Speaking of which, the biggest event in the sect is the establishment of the Sleeping Dream Hall.”

Upon hearing this, Shi Yongyan’s heart skipped a beat, but his expression remained unchanged as he asked, “The Sleeping Dream Hall? I’ve never heard of it before? Is it newly established?”

The man nodded and said, “Yes, it’s newly established. I heard it was spearheaded by a senior elder of the sect. They recruit disciples within the sect, and anyone, regardless of their strength, can join. However, there’s one condition: one must sleep for three full days to qualify for the Sleeping Dream Hall.”

Shi Yongyan was overjoyed. He had just heard the words “Sleeping Dream Hall” and suspected it might be related to the God of Laziness. Now, hearing the man’s explanation, he was even more certain that the Sleeping Dream Hall was indeed connected to the God of Laziness. In other words, this branch hall could be considered his organization; he finally had an organization.

However, he didn’t show it, but listened quietly to the man’s words. The man continued, “What do you think those people who join the Dream Hall are thinking? Our sect has always been known for its diligence, but the Dream Hall is all about sleeping, and so many disciples participate. It’s really incomprehensible.” Everyone else nodded in agreement.

Shi Yongyan smiled and said, “That’s quite interesting. I’ll go check it out in a bit. Senior brothers, I just finished my seclusion and need to collect the sect’s benefits, so I’ll be going now. We’ll chat again when I get back.”

Everyone nodded, and Shi Yongyan stood up. Then, as if he suddenly remembered something, he stopped and said, “Oh right, I almost forgot. There’s something I forgot to take.” He then returned to his room. The others didn’t seem to notice and continued chatting amongst themselves.

After returning to his room, Shi Yongyan quickly packed his belongings, finishing in no time. Once everything was packed, he left the room, greeted the people in the courtyard, and headed straight for the Arhat Hall. In

sects like the Stone Buddha Temple, disciples still receive their monthly benefits even when in seclusion, though these are initially held at their respective halls. Shi Yongyan received his monthly benefits, so he naturally collected his first before heading to the Dream Hall.

He quickly arrived at the Arhat Hall, successfully collected his benefits, and then went to the Medicine King Hall to buy a large quantity of fasting pills—enough to last him for several years.

He then inquired about the location of the Sleeping Dream Hall and headed straight there. The Sleeping Dream Hall was in a relatively remote area of Shifo Temple, but Shi Yongyan found it quickly, as it was quite famous within the temple and many people knew of it.

Shi Yongyan soon arrived at the entrance of the Sleeping Dream Hall. Perhaps due to the small number of disciples, their main hall was located in a large courtyard. The words “Sleeping Dream Hall” hung above the gate, which was unguarded and open.

Shi Yongyan glanced around and walked in. Upon entering the courtyard, he was taken aback. It was a large courtyard with a vast open space paved with stone slabs, seemingly a training ground. However, the training ground was deserted, and the ground was covered in dust and fallen leaves, looking as if it hadn’t been cleaned in a long time—an abandoned courtyard.

The courtyard had a row of outbuildings, and inside that was a row of main buildings. Next to the main buildings was a small door leading to the back courtyard, showing that the courtyard was quite large.

Just then, a door to one of the outbuildings opened, and a person walked out. It was a monk, but he looked sleepy, his clothes were wrinkled, and his hair had grown long; he didn’t look like a monk at all.

However, Shi Yongyan’s eyes lit up when he saw the disciple’s appearance, because he knew very well that he had looked the same before. The disciple glanced at Shi Yongyan, yawned, and then asked, “What are you doing here?”

Shi Yongyan quickly replied, “Greetings, Senior Brother. I’m here to apply to join the Sleeping Dream Hall. I wonder what I need to do?”

Upon hearing this, the disciple’s eyes finally brightened, and he said, “I’ll ask you a few questions. If you answer them correctly and pass a test, you can officially join the Sleeping Dream Hall.”

Shi Yongyan immediately said, “Please ask, Senior Brother.”

Looking at Shi Yongyan, the man smiled and said, “Junior Brother, have you seen any unusual books or paintings recently?”

Upon hearing this, Shi Yongyan’s eyes shone even brighter, and he immediately replied, “Replying to Senior Brother, a few months ago, I saw a very strange book. The book only had the word ‘lazy’ on it, and there was also a painting in the book. The painting was of a sleeping person.”

Upon hearing this, the man’s eyes also lit up. “Come on,” he said, looking at Shi Yongyan. “I see. So, what have you been doing these past few months, junior brother?”

Shi Yongyan looked at the man and smiled slightly. “Sleeping.”

Upon hearing this, the man immediately laughed heartily. “Good, good! Come on, junior brother, come with me to the room to register. I’ll assign you a room. If you can sleep here for three days, you’ll automatically become a disciple of my Dream Hall. If you don’t sleep for three days, you can leave on your own, and you’ll no longer be a disciple of my Dream Hall.”

Shi Yongyan nodded. “Okay, thank you, senior brother.” The monk waved his hand and went directly into the room. Shi Yongyan followed. However, he was taken aback as soon as he entered the room, then smiled slightly. The room wasn’t very big, and it was covered in a layer of dust. The monk hadn’t cleaned it. There was a desk in the room, behind which was a futon. Next to the desk was a bed with a quilt on it. The whole room looked cramped and dirty.

However, Shi Yongyan didn’t see anything wrong with it. His previous room was the same, because he knew very well that this was the source of their power—the lazier they were, the greater their power.

The monk sat down at the small table, picked up a pen, and asked, “Junior brother, what’s your name? How old are you? What’s your strength now?”

Shi Yongyan replied, “Replying to senior brother, my Dharma name is Shi Yongyan, I’m sixteen years old this year, and my current strength is at the second level of the Azure

Stone Realm.” The monk nodded, seemingly unsurprised by Shi Yongyan’s age and strength. After writing Shi Yongyan’s information on a piece of paper, he stood up and said, “Let’s go, I’ll find you a room.” Shi Yongyan responded and followed the monk into the courtyard. Soon they entered a second courtyard, which had several rows of houses, not far apart. The monk led Shi Yongyan to the second row of houses and then to a room, saying to him, “This room is empty; it’s yours.”
