Chapter 15916. The Mist

soon as Chen Feng returned to his room, an excited expression immediately appeared on his face. He was truly happy; this was the first time he had defeated an enemy in a life-or-death arena. This truly made him very happy. He had deliberately beaten Zhang Cheng to that state because only by beating Zhang Cheng like that could he let others know his strength.

Chen Feng took two deep breaths, not laughing out loud. He needed to constantly display his arrogance. An arrogant person would never be overjoyed after a victory; he had to appear nonchalant, as if it were nothing at all, completely disregarding his enemy. This was the proper behavior of an arrogant person.

Chen Feng once again entered his meditation room. He moved the cabinet, knelt before the statue again, and the next moment he entered that space. The statue still asked him what he wanted.

Chen Feng spoke, “Almighty God, I want a way to quickly improve my strength. I want to truly comprehend my own power.”

“Simple, step back.”

Chen Feng emerged from that space once more. Upon exiting, he felt as if something had been suddenly shoved into his mind, and he immediately fainted. While he was unconscious, he seemed to have entered a gray space, but unlike before, this gray space was enormous, much larger than the space where he had practiced his sword. Just as Chen Feng was wondering why he was here, he suddenly realized that something was wrong with his body. He looked down but couldn’t find his own body; he discovered that he had turned into a cloud of mist.

Chen Feng froze. The next moment, he felt his body move. He tried to control his body, but he couldn’t. His body was moving on its own. He immediately realized that his current body wasn’t his real body, but a cloud of mist; therefore, he was now a cloud of mist.

The thought of fog immediately brought to mind the origin of the name Qinglan Sect. “Lan” refers to mountain mist, and “Qinglan” refers to a unique, bluish-green mist found only in the mountains. This mist is different from ordinary fog; it’s denser and contains a certain degree of poison. With special processing, it becomes a very special magical artifact—capable of gathering and dispersing, changing shape, and possessing poisonous properties. The Qinglan Sect is named after this mist. It’s said that the sect’s most treasured technique is called the Qinglan Dancing Wind Technique, and this technique is… The first sect leader of the Azure Mist Sect, observing the azure mist on the mountain, comprehended a cultivation technique that was incredibly versatile and powerful. Therefore, all outer disciples of the Azure Mist Sect practiced a simplified version of the Azure Mist Dance Wind Technique, called the Azure Mist Technique. This technique has a unique characteristic: after reaching the stage of “Movement Training,” one can create their own unique momentum. However, this momentum varies greatly; some practitioners create a sword momentum, while others create a saber. But if someone cultivates the Azure Mist Technique and ultimately develops a mist momentum, that disciple will receive special training from the sect.

Some might ask, if comprehending a mist momentum leads to special training, why do others pursue other momentum types? Wouldn’t it be better if everyone focused on mist momentum?

The answer is not so simple. While momentum is a kind of enhancement to the laws of nature, these laws are not only related to cultivation techniques but also to a person’s personality, comprehension, and talent.

Those who have comprehended the sword and saber techniques aren’t unwilling to comprehend the mist techniques; rather, they genuinely can’t. While they can’t comprehend the mist techniques, comprehending the sword and saber techniques is still valuable. Sects don’t only have one type of cultivation method; there are other techniques that can be practiced, which are also quite good. If one cultivates them to a high level,

one can become a master in their own right. Of course, if you cultivate another type of technique, you can’t become the future sect leader. But is becoming the sect leader something everyone in the sect dreams of? Being an elder in the sect is already a dream for many. Therefore, it’s perfectly normal for them to try to comprehend other techniques when they can’t comprehend the mist techniques.

Chen Feng previously didn’t understand why his body had become like this, but now he understands. To comprehend the mist techniques, you must understand mist. Only by understanding mist can you comprehend the mist techniques. Now that his body has become mist, it means he can understand mist more deeply, and thus, he might be able to comprehend the mist techniques.

Thinking of this, Chen Feng relaxed his mind and focused entirely on the feeling of the fog. He was now the fog itself, so his understanding of it deepened, and he gradually became completely absorbed in it. He

didn’t know how much time had passed when he suddenly awoke. He found himself lying in his room, right in front of the statue, but the feeling remained vividly in his mind. Chen Feng immediately sat up, bowed to the statue, moved the cabinet back, and then sat down to contemplate his own power.

Gradually, the sensation of mist appeared around his body, and soon mist appeared around him. The mist grew thicker and thicker until it filled the entire room. Then, the mist kept changing shape, and finally, it suddenly contracted, like a whale sucking water, and was directly inhaled into Chen Feng’s body. Then Chen Feng opened his eyes, his eyes shining brightly. He wanted to laugh out loud, but he forcibly held back. Then he stood up. He knew that at this moment, he had to let others know his strength. Only in this way could he gain the sect’s attention and prevent anyone from causing him trouble.

Thinking of this, Chen Feng walked straight out. Reaching the door, he tilted his head slightly, opened it, and stepped out. Once outside, he glanced around; it was quiet and deserted. Chen Feng smiled slightly, then leaped towards the courtyard. As soon as he jumped, a cloud of mist appeared beneath his feet, lifting him up and slowly lifting him into the sky. Standing on the mist, Chen Feng flew out of the small building and into the distance.

While flying wasn’t generally forbidden within the Qinglan Sect, ordinary disciples rarely flew within its grounds. Their living areas were relatively small; it was like going about 100 meters away – you wouldn’t take a taxi, even if you had a car. Therefore, outer disciples of the Qinglan Sect generally didn’t fly, since the distances weren’t very far. Of course, they would fly if they needed to travel further.

Chen Feng’s destination today wasn’t exactly close, nor was it far. He needed to go to the Outer Disciple Management Office. There, he could accept and turn in missions. If his strength improved, or if he had other matters to attend to, he could also go there. Now that Chen Feng had comprehended the “Power” level, he naturally needed to report it. The sect would then reassign his accommodations and other benefits based on his strength.

Outer disciples like Chen Feng could only live in the small buildings, but if their strength reached the “Power” level and they comprehended their own “Power,” the sect would arrange for them to have private courtyards. These courtyards weren’t large, and there weren’t many rooms, but they offered better privacy. Chen Feng simply wanted to report this so he could move to a better place.

Chen Feng quickly arrived at a small hill. On that hill stood a small five-story building, not very tall, but attracting many disciples daily. Outer disciples like Chen Feng were required to complete tasks; they had to complete at least half a year’s worth of tasks, otherwise the sect wouldn’t provide them with supplies. As

Chen Feng approached the building, the mist slowly descended from the sky. All the Qinglan Sect disciples around saw Chen Feng, some even recognizing him. They were all surprised to see him descend, pointing and whispering with envy.

They knew perfectly well that Chen Feng had comprehended the power of mist, meaning he would receive special training from the sect. This was undoubtedly a great thing for Chen Feng. With the sect’s focused training, he would at least become an inner disciple. Even if he remained an inner disciple, he would still become a managing elder, a remarkable achievement in the eyes of many outer disciples.

In any sect, only a select few are truly at the top. Most disciples will never reach that level; they remain ordinary disciples, some perhaps even dying as outer disciples. Outer disciples, after a certain number of years, are expelled. These expelled disciples can only find work in various parts of the sect, but they have no real power, much like ordinary laborers.

Entering the inner sect, however, is like attending a cadre training program. Upon graduation, you’re promoted, no longer just a manager, but a managing elder—a significant difference.

All the disciples of the Qinglan Sect understood this. Therefore, when they saw Chen Feng descend from the mist, they knew that from this day forward, his status would be extraordinary. Because if you could comprehend the mist’s power, you would receive intensive training from the outer sect, making your entry into the inner sect a certainty.

Chen Feng tilted his head slightly, ignoring the stares, and entered the small building. The first floor was where missions were accepted and completed. Chen Feng went straight upstairs and quickly reached the third floor, where they reported their cultivation levels.

Chen Feng soon arrived at a room, knocked on the door, and after hearing “Please come in” from inside, he entered. Two men were sitting in the room, both appearing to be in their thirties, wearing Qinglan Sect robes, but lacking vitality. Both looked at Chen Feng with cold expressions. Chen Feng knew that these two had previously been outer sect disciples, but were now merely two managers working there.
