Chapter 15912. Qinglan Sect

Not far from the Wind Shadow Domain, there was a small sect called the Qinglan Sect. This sect wasn’t particularly strong, but they were renowned for producing a magical artifact called Qinglan. Only members of the Qinglan Sect could use this artifact, and its power was immense, hence the sect’s name.

In the room of a Qinglan Sect disciple, this disciple was meditating and cultivating, appearing no different from ordinary cultivators. After cultivating for an hour, he opened his eyes, a look of joy shining in them. He murmured, “It’s real! It’s really real!” After saying this, he glanced around and then fell silent, as if afraid someone would overhear him.

He then straightened his clothes and slowly stood up. The disciples of the Qinglan Sect all wore blue robes, not short-sleeved ones, but rather a style similar to scholar’s robes, which looked very handsome. The Qinglan Sect disciple in the air was named Chen Feng. He was very handsome, about 1.8 meters tall, with a face like jade, a straight nose, sword-like eyebrows, and bright eyes.

However, Chen Feng was only an outer disciple of the Qinglan Sect. He was quite famous among the outer disciples, known as “Jade Bottle.” The meaning was quite clear: “Jade Bottle” meant that he looked good on the outside but was empty inside, that is, he was only handsome but lacked strength.

Chen Feng hated this nickname, but he couldn’t refute it because his strength was indeed weak. He knew that although he was handsome, his strength was indeed very poor. He discovered that his cultivation speed was not as fast as others, and his talent was far inferior to others.

Chen Feng was quite helpless about this. Heaven had given him a handsome appearance, but not much talent, which left him feeling helpless.

However, during a mission, he unexpectedly obtained a secret manual. The manual recorded a peculiar cultivation method, which was quite interesting. Before practicing it, he needed to make some preparations. The first step was to carve a statue. This statue was very special; it depicted a person sitting in a chair, wearing robes, so you couldn’t see his face. He was sitting with his legs crossed, and although it was just a statue, it gave off a very arrogant feeling.

After the statue was carved, the cultivator had to drip a drop of blood onto it and recite a simple incantation: “O God who governs all things in the world, I am your most faithful believer. I offer my arrogance, please grant me your favor.”

The incantation was simple, but the content following the incantation greatly excited Chen Feng. It said that after reciting the incantation, as long as you displayed arrogance in front of others, you would receive a divine reward. The god could grant you anything you desired, but the degree of arrogance depended on who you were arrogant in front of; the stronger the person, the greater the reward.

Chen Feng initially didn’t believe it, but his cultivation speed was too slow, and he couldn’t bear it any longer. In this situation, he remembered the book again, so he decided to try it as a last resort. He carved a statue, dripped blood, and recited the incantation, but nothing happened afterward.

Chen Feng knew he was still one step away from completion, so he left his room. When he encountered another outer disciple, instead of greeting him with a smile as usual, he slightly raised his head and walked past the person, displaying extreme arrogance.

Of course, this was because it was his first test, and he had deliberately chosen a disciple weaker than himself. He worried that if he acted arrogantly in front of stronger disciples, he would be beaten. Therefore, he chose a weaker disciple so that even if the other party was unhappy with his attitude, they wouldn’t attack him, and they couldn’t win anyway.

After trying it, he immediately returned to his room. Once there, he went straight to the statue, and to his surprise, the statue began to emit a faint golden light, which struck him directly. A voice then echoed in his mind: “My believer, you have done well. What reward do you desire?” The voice was

extremely arrogant, like a master speaking to his servant. Chen Feng felt uncomfortable, but he still spoke, “I want to speed up my cultivation.”

“Simple, step back.” The arrogant voice returned once more, and Chen Feng suddenly realized he had woken up instantly. He discovered he had fallen asleep kneeling before the statue.

He glanced at his body, then at the statue, but nothing seemed to have changed. Out of curiosity, he decided to try cultivating again to see the effect.

After he started cultivating, he noticed something different. He found that as he cultivated, the surrounding spiritual energy rushed into his body at an extremely fast speed, much faster than when he cultivated on his own before. That’s why he was so happy after he finished cultivating.

Chen Feng straightened his clothes and then walked to a corner of the room where there was a cabinet. He opened the cabinet door, and inside was a statue—the very same arrogant statue. He knelt before it, his eyes gleaming as he looked at it, and said, “God who governs all things in the world, what must I do next to receive your reward again?” As he spoke, his eyes were fixed on the statue, seeking an answer.

But the statue remained motionless, which disappointed him somewhat. Then it suddenly occurred to him, “That’s right, arrogance. He sacrificed his arrogance to the statue. Does that mean that if he only needs to display arrogance in front of others, he can exchange it for a reward from the god? It must be so.”

Thinking of this, Chen Feng immediately stood up. He closed the cabinet door again and then walked out. His cultivation place was in his meditation room, and the cabinet was also located there. Generally, a cultivator’s meditation room was an even more private place than his bedroom, and people wouldn’t easily enter. A meditation room wasn’t always empty; some people would keep things there, so it wasn’t unusual to have a cabinet in it.

Chen Feng closed the cabinet door and then walked out. Outside the meditation room was his bedroom. He didn’t linger; he continued walking from the bedroom to the living room. Next to the living room was a door leading to a bedroom. Chen Feng walked to the bedroom door, took a deep breath, and then opened it, stepping outside.

Outside was a long corridor, only a meter wide, with rooms on one side and a railing on the other. It was a three-story building, square in design with a central courtyard. The building was filled with rooms like Chen Feng’s; these were the rooms arranged for Chen Feng and his companions by the Qinglan Sect. They were only outer disciples and didn’t yet have their own private rooms.

After Chen Feng came out of his room, he glanced around and found the building quiet and deserted. He didn’t pay much attention, looked around again, then slightly raised his head and headed for the stairs.

Chen Feng quickly reached the stairs. There were four staircases in the building, and Chen Feng took the one closest to him. Just as he reached the stairs, he heard footsteps coming from downstairs. Chen Feng immediately raised his head and slightly lifted his chin, appearing quite arrogant.

The footsteps grew closer, and soon Chen Feng saw a man coming up from downstairs. This man appeared to be in his twenties, with an ordinary appearance, and slightly stronger than Chen Feng. This man had some conflict with Chen Feng because Chen Feng was too handsome; he couldn’t compare in looks, but he was stronger. Therefore, he looked down on Chen Feng, and Chen Feng rarely spoke to him.

The man also saw Chen Feng, and a contemptuous smile appeared on his face. He then said directly, “Oh, isn’t this our Young Master Chen? Young Master Chen, where are you going?”

In the past, Chen Feng wouldn’t have said anything, but would have simply lowered his head and walked past him. Chen Feng knew this was sarcasm; he was no match for the man, so he didn’t want to provoke him. Today, Chen Feng didn’t want to provoke him either, but this time he didn’t lower his head. Instead, he slightly raised his head and walked past the man, completely ignoring him.

If Chen Feng had simply walked past the man with his head down as before, the man wouldn’t have reacted much, perhaps offering a few sarcastic remarks. But today, Chen Feng held his head high, completely ignoring him and walking past as if he were invisible. This arrogant attitude immediately enraged the man, who looked at Chen Feng coldly and said, “Who do you think you are, daring to treat me like this? Hey, I’m talking to you, you Jade Bottle Prince.”

Jade Bottle Prince was Chen Feng’s nickname. In the past, Chen Feng’s face would turn bright red when he heard this nickname, but not today. Chen Feng acted as if he hadn’t heard him at all, continuing to walk downstairs with his head still slightly tilted back. This made the man even angrier. Looking at Chen Feng, he roared, “Chen Feng, you…”

As he spoke, Chen Feng had already turned a corner and was no longer in sight. This left the man feeling choked up, unable to vent his anger, almost suffocating him.

He gasped for breath, his face flushed, wishing he could rush up to Chen Feng and beat him up, but unfortunately he couldn’t, because private duels were forbidden within the Qinglan Sect.

In the end, all he could do was curse, “Just a jade bottle, what are you pretending for? I’ll deal with you sooner or later.” He then walked towards his room, but the anger in his heart remained.

Chen Feng, however, walked out of the building with his head held high, heading into the distance. He had no destination in mind, simply strolling along the path. He was only there to display his arrogance, not to pursue his goals.
