Chapter 15837. Strange

At the counter, a female cultivator stood. Upon seeing Qin Luo, she immediately smiled. The female cultivator who had led Qin Luo over then said to the female cultivator behind the counter, “This customer wants to sell a magical artifact. Could you take a look?”

The female cultivator behind the counter replied, “Yes.” Then she turned to Qin Luo and said, “This customer, please take out the magical artifact you wish to sell so I can take a look.”

Qin Luo responded, and then with a flick of his hand, a long sword appeared in his hand. This long sword was just an ordinary ox-tail sword, nothing special. It was clear that the sword had been used for some time, as there were some scratches on the blade. However, it was also clear that the owner of the sword took good care of it; the sword was cleaned very well and had been maintained.

Qin Luo handed the longsword to the female cultivator. She took it, examined it carefully, and then said, “It’s a bull-tail sword produced by our Demon Blade Sect, about 70% new. We can buy it back at 60% of the original price. Do you agree, sir?”

Qin Luo nodded and said, “Okay.” The female cultivator then took the longsword back and gave Qin Luo the spirit stones. Longswords like this, produced by their sect, all had the same price, so she didn’t need to tell Qin Luo how many spirit stones he could get for the sword; they already knew the price.

Qin Luo accepted the spirit stones and then turned to the female cultivator standing beside him, who was leading him, and said, “I’d like to order another longsword. Take me there.”

The female cultivator responded and led Qin Luo upstairs. The second floor was different from the first. There was also a large counter with several people sitting inside, but they all looked quite old, and there were very few people there.

The female cultivator led Qin Luo to the counter and said to a cultivator who appeared to be in his forties, “Elder Cui, this guest wishes to order a longsword.”

Elder Cui glanced at Qin Luo, then stood up and asked, “Guest, what kind of longsword would you like to order?”

Qin Luo replied, “I want to order a bull-tail sword, three feet long and weighing about seven pounds. However, I require that this bull-tail sword include this piece of shadow ore.” With that, Qin Luo took out the piece of shadow ore and placed it on the counter.

Elder Cui picked up the piece of shadow ore, examined it, and then said, “Very well, no problem. Please hold this, guest.” With a flick of his hand, a longsword appeared in his hand. This longsword was indeed in the style of a bull-tail sword, but it was made of a special material, resembling a kind of mud, which was quite peculiar.

This was Qin Luo’s first time ordering a custom-made longsword. His previous longsword, though purchased from the Demon Blade Sect, wasn’t custom-made, so this was the first time he’d seen one like this. He nodded, grasped the longsword, and then heard Elder Cui say, “The guest can hold this longsword and swing it a few times.”

Qin Luo nodded again, then gripped the longsword tightly. As soon as he gripped it, he felt the hilt was soft yet had a certain rigidity. After gripping the hilt, he found it very comfortable to hold, making it easier to wield.

After he brandished the longsword a few times, Elder Cui said, “That’s enough, guest. Please put it down.” Qin Luo nodded and put the longsword down. Elder Cui said, “This longsword is a custom-molded one. The pressure you applied to the hilt will leave a mark on it. We will design a hilt for you based on that mark.”

Qin Luo then understood what was going on and immediately said, “Thank you.”

Elder Cui smiled and said, “Of course. Please pay a deposit here, guest. You can pick up the sword in seven days.” Qin Luo nodded, then took out spirit stones and gave them to Elder Cui. Elder Cui accepted the spirit stones… Then, she took out a wooden plaque and gave it to Qin Luo, saying, “This wooden plaque is your proof of identity for retrieving the knife. Please keep it safe, otherwise, if you lose it, you won’t be able to retrieve the knife. Here, we only recognize the plaque, not the person.”

Qin Luo nodded and carefully put the wooden plaque away. Then, accompanied by the female cultivator, he walked out. Just as they reached the stairs, they saw a disciple of the Demon Blade Sect carrying several knives upstairs. These knives were clearly newly forged, looking very new, and the blades were obviously already sharpened, their edges gleaming coldly.

Qin Luo only glanced at the man before moving aside and heading downstairs. However, when he reached the Demon Blade Sect cultivator, he was taken aback, and his expression changed. He was about to speak, but seeing the calm expression on the Demon Blade Sect disciple’s face, he swallowed his words. Qin Luo then carefully examined the disciple before continuing downstairs.

The main reason Qin Luo was so surprised was that he had just noticed that one of the long swords the cultivator was holding had already cut the cultivator’s arm, and quite deeply at that. However, to Qin Luo’s astonishment, the cultivator seemed to feel nothing, and there was no bleeding. This was Qin Luo’s biggest surprise. It was this discovery that made

Qin Luo realize something was wrong. Normally, this would only happen to a corpse refiner. The Hell Gate also had people who specialized in corpse refinement; those refined corpses possessed immense strength and were impervious to blades and spears. Even if they were injured, they wouldn’t feel pain or bleed, just like the disciple of the Demon Blade Sect.

But corpse refiners were different from humans. They were corpses that had been refined by humans. Although they still retained a human form, they looked completely different, usually appearing bizarrely shaped, making them instantly recognizable as corpse refiners.

The Demon Blade Sect disciple he had just encountered appeared to be a normal person, even breathing. This astonished Qin Luo. A living person, yet his body resembled that of a corpse – wasn’t that strange? Because of this, Qin Luo remained silent. He suspected the Demon Blade Sect disciple was suspicious, but he didn’t want to cause trouble. He knew perfectly well that avoiding trouble was the key to longevity, so his immediate priority was to leave the Demon Blade Hall.

With this in mind, Qin Luo quickened his pace and soon left the Demon Blade Hall, ignoring even the female cultivator’s greeting. After leaving, he immediately moved as far away as possible, finding a spot to watch the Demon Blade Hall. He wanted to see if anything had happened to the Nine Blades Hall. He suspected the Demon Blade Sect disciple was a corpse in disguise, intending to attack the Demon Blade Hall.

However, after waiting outside the Demon Blade Hall for a while, he didn’t see anything happen there, which made Qin Luo curious. He looked around and then went directly to the inn closest to the Demon Blade Hall and went inside.

As soon as he entered the inn, a waiter immediately greeted him, bowing and saying, “Greetings, sir. Are you looking for a room?” Qin

Luo nodded and said, “Give me a room, preferably one on the street.”

The waiter immediately replied, “Yes, sir. This way, please.” He then led Qin Luo to the counter, where the innkeeper was sitting. The waiter said to the innkeeper, “Innkeeper, room number five, Jia.”

The innkeeper nodded, then took out an iron plaque and placed it on the counter. This plaque was like a key, because each room here had a defensive array. Although the array might not be very strong, it at least served as a warning. The iron plaque was the key to enter and exit; without it, one could not enter the room.

Qin Luo picked up the iron plaque and followed the waiter upstairs. His room was on the second floor. Soon, Qin Luo arrived at his room. He pressed the iron plaque against the door, which flashed with a faint light before disappearing. Qin Luo pushed the door open and went inside.

The waiter stood at the door and asked Qin Luo, “Sir, would you like some hot water, or anything else?”

Qin Luo shook his head and said, “No, thank you. I’ll call you if I need anything.” The waiter acknowledged and turned to leave.

After the waiter left, Qin Luo carefully examined the room. It was a small suite; the outer room was a living room with a square table and four benches in the center. Besides that, there was nothing else. The room was quite clean.

Qin Luo walked to the window and opened it. Immediately, he saw the Demon Blade Hall not far away. Qin Luo breathed a sigh of relief. He then glanced at the bedroom inside and found only a bed and a small wardrobe. There was nothing else. There were no toiletries, which was normal; cultivators’ clothes usually had dust-removing functions, meaning they didn’t need to wash their faces. The built-in magic of the clothes would clean them.

Although the room was simple, Qin Luo was happy because its location was perfect. He wanted to stay here and watch the Demon Blade Hall. He wanted to see if anything had happened to them. So, after checking the room, he sat by the window, slightly opening it—just enough to see the Demon Blade Hall. He sat there quietly, watching the Demon Blade Hall. He was determined to find out what had happened to that Demon Blade Hall disciple, and why he hadn’t bled despite being cut.

Several hours passed before the Demon Blade Hall closed its doors. All the Demon Blade Sect disciples came out of the hall, greeted each other, and left. When Qin Luo saw the disciple who had been cut by a knife, he stood up in shock, looking utterly incredulous. He saw the Demon Blade Sect disciple who had been cut but wasn’t bleeding talking loudly to another Demon Blade Sect disciple beside him; he could faintly hear their voices.
