Beast Taming: Starting From Zero - Chapter 1545
Chapter 1545. Chapter 1539 I Still Hope (Two Chapters Combined)
“Where did you go in this freezing weather?” Hearing this, Qiao Sang glanced at the heavy snow falling outside the window, picked up her phone again, and dialed Teacher Michaela’s number.
“Beep beep.”
“Sorry, the number you dialed is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later.”
No one answered. Qiao Sang put down her phone, not paying much attention, thinking that Teacher Michaela was probably busy right now.
Meanwhile,
in the heavy snow, Michaela stared at her disconnected phone for a while before continuing to wander aimlessly through the streets.
“PenPen?”
Penjamei called out, indicating that she wasn’t going to answer.
“She probably asked where I was. I’m not in the mood to go back right now,” Michaela said, sounding annoyed.
“PenPen?” Penjamei called out, wondering what the headmaster had said.
The soundproofing of the phones made by the Imperial Beast Taming Academy was too good; it didn’t hear the voice on the other end of the line, only knowing that its Beast Tamer had been in a bad mood after answering the call.
Michaela paused for two seconds before speaking,
“The Dean wants to change Josan’s mentor. He feels that with her talent, I’m no longer suitable to teach her.”
Penjame paused, then fell silent.
It glanced at its Beastmaster, feeling a pang of sadness for her.
It knew that since becoming Josan’s mentor, although it hadn’t shown it, its Beastmaster had been incredibly proud and happy lately. She hadn’t been this happy in a long time since their first-round exit in the Interstellar Cup.
After about ten seconds, Penjame called out,
“Penpen.”
Perhaps Josan didn’t want to change mentors.
Michaela said calmly, “The Dean is actually right. With Josan’s talent, she needs a more suitable mentor now.”
Her tone was flat, as if she had come to terms with it, but her face showed a look of utter despair.
Honestly, if she were Josan, having become an S-rank Beastmaster at eighteen, she would definitely choose a better mentor instead of her, who had only been eliminated in the first round of the Interstellar Cup.
“Puff.”
Penjami looked at her Beastmaster, unsure how to comfort her.
In her eyes, Josang was indeed the most talented human she knew. Although her own Beastmaster was currently above her, she would be surpassed sooner or later, and it was normal for Josang to find a more skilled human as her mentor.
Michaela wandered aimlessly through the streets, Penjami quietly following beside her.
The atmosphere was momentarily filled with sadness and silence.
Suddenly, her phone vibrated.
Michaela picked up her phone as she walked.
It was a message from “my dear student Josang”:
[Teacher, I want to eat Chinese food tonight (shy)]
Michaela stopped, opened the navigation, and searched for nearby restaurants serving Chinese cuisine.
“Puff?”
Penjami called out, indicating what was wrong.
“It’s lunchtime, we should buy some food to take home.” Michaela said while searching for nearby restaurants.
Penjami looked at her Beastmaster and sighed heavily in her heart.
Her poor Beastmaster, even though she was so sad, still had to pretend everything was fine and buy food to take home.
Half an hour later.
Suite.
Michaela and Penjami appeared out of nowhere, carrying a pile of food.
“Teacher, you’re back.” Josan heard the noise and turned around. When she saw the pile of things in Michaela’s hands, her eyes lit up. She jumped up from the sofa, walked over, and said, “Why did you buy so much food today?”
Because she didn’t know how many more meals she could eat with Michaela like this. Michaela put the bags on the table and said in her usual tone, “Didn’t you say you wanted to eat Chinese food? There’s a place nearby, so I bought a little extra.”
“This is way too much,” Josan said, looking at the table almost full of food.
Michaela changed the subject: “Have you registered for the S-rank Beastmaster exam?”
At this, Qiao Sang sighed and said, “Do you know what the task they gave me is?”
Michaela looked up, surprised.
“The task has already been given out?”
Based on her understanding of the S-rank Beastmaster exam, after registration, the materials had to be submitted through multiple levels, and it would take about a month before an examiner would contact her. If things went smoothly, it would be within a week; that’s how it was for her own exam.
To have an examiner contact her and give her a task right after registration was something she’d never seen before.
Josang hummed in agreement. “It’s an examiner named Felix. He came specifically to confirm the news that Ice Saint Asia had broken through the racial limit, and he also gave me this task.”
So that’s how it is. It seems this examiner is in charge of pet information within the Beast Taming Alliance. Michaela asked,
“What kind of task is it?”
Josang replied resentfully, “Find an alien pet in the eastern hemisphere of Tianyuan Star.”
Michaela paused, “An alien pet?”
“Yes.” Josang nodded slightly, his tone becoming even more resentful. “The search area is the entire eastern hemisphere of Tianyuan Star, and we don’t even know what the alien pet looks like. It even has the ability to transform into other races and humans.”
This… Michaela frowned, saying, “This task is a bit difficult.”
“Exactly,” Qiao Sang said worriedly. “Putting aside the fact that we don’t even know what that alien pet looks like, the search area is so vast. What if we search in country A and don’t find it, then we go to country B and it goes to country A instead?”
Michaela pondered for a moment and said, “This might require the help of mechanical-type pets.”
Qiao Sang was taken aback: “Mechanical-type pets?”
Michaela nodded. “That’s right, mechanical-type pets. As long as we find mechanical-type pets that specialize in gathering intelligence, we can quickly narrow down the search and find pets with transformation abilities that aren’t registered with the Beast Taming Alliance.”
She paused and added, “Of course, that’s not necessarily true. If it were that easy to find, the Beast Taming Alliance would have found it themselves instead of issuing it as a mission.”
Qiao Sang guessed, “Perhaps even the Beast Taming Alliance isn’t sure if it’s really an alien pet, after all, the examiner told me it was highly suspected.”
“In any case, it’s always better to get mechanical-type pets to help with this mission,” Michaela said. “It’ll definitely be much more efficient than searching on your own.”
Suddenly, Josang, a mechanical-type pet, had an idea. Her eyes lit up, and she said, “What do you think about asking Guilunsel for help?”
Michaela looked at her and said, “We Imperial Class students can’t rely on the school’s resources for these kinds of assessments.”
Josang looked disappointed.
When it came to gathering intelligence, the most powerful mechanical-type pet she could think of was Guilunsel.
Michaela glanced at Josang, then sat down at the table, saying calmly,
“I contacted the Dean today and told her about your brain breakthrough and your contract with Sharara. The Dean said to contact her again when you return; she has something to tell you.”
Penjami glanced at her pet tamer.
Qiao Sang’s first reaction was one of being flattered, but remembering that she and Lu Bao had broken through at the same time and had also formed a contract with Xia Lala, she suddenly felt it was quite normal to have a chat with her. As she sat down, she asked,
“What does the Dean want to say to me?”
Michaela paused, her hand holding the chopsticks pausing, before resuming its normal expression.
“I don’t know,” she said. “She only said to contact her when you get back. Eat first, and then contact the Dean.”
Without hesitation, Qiao Sang said, “I’ll contact the Dean now.”
Given the Dean’s generosity, and with her brain having broken through to the S-rank Beast Tamer level and having formed a contract with Xia Lala, she was sure to receive a lot of points as a reward.
Thinking of this, she became impatient.
Qiao Sang looked at Teacher Michaela with bright eyes, expectantly hoping she would quickly take out her phone.
Michaela was silent for two seconds, then unlocked her phone, found the Dean’s contact information, and instead of dialing directly, pushed the phone towards Qiao Sang.
She appeared very quiet, quite unlike her usual self.
Lost in thought about the abundant points the Dean would surely award, Qiao Sang was oblivious to the fact that she quickly picked up her phone and dialed the number.
“Beep beep.”
The call was answered after only two rings.
“Hello.” The Dean’s voice came through the speakerphone.
Qiao Sang instinctively straightened her back, her tone respectful, and went straight to the point: “Dean, this is Qiao Sang. Teacher Michaela said you have something to say to me.”
Michaela was engrossed in her meal.
Penjami glanced at Qiao Sang answering the phone, then at her own Beastmaster, and sighed heavily inwardly.
On the other end of the phone, Theresa’s voice softened considerably. “I heard from Michaela that your brain capacity has broken through to 70%, and you’ve even formed a contract with Sharara.”
Josang hummed in agreement, her tone modest but slightly proud. “I never expected to become an S-rank Beastmaster at such a young age.” (
I’m so young and already an S-rank Beastmaster, hurry up and tell me about the points reward.)
Theresa exclaimed, “I’ve truly never heard of your talent before. Not only since the establishment of the Imperial Beastmaster Academy, but even in the entire interstellar space, there hasn’t been a Beastmaster with such high talent as you.”
Josang, already immune to the examiner’s praise, couldn’t help but smile. She was about to say something more modest
when Theresa continued, “I asked you to contact me because I wanted to suggest changing your tutor.”
Josang: “???”
Josang jumped up from her chair, her face filled with astonishment. “Change tutor?!”
She couldn’t help but glance at Teacher Michaela.
Michaela, head down, pretended not to hear and continued silently shoveling rice into her mouth.
Penjia glanced at her Beastmaster and sighed inwardly again.
“Jiujiu?”
Jiu Bugu’s eyes widened.
Change mentor?
Did that mean they were going to replace their Beastmaster?
Ya Bao and the others looked at their Beastmaster, then at Michaela, their expressions ranging from blank to astonished to thoughtful.
Only Ting Bao reacted completely differently, his eyes lighting up as if he had heard some earth-shattering good news.
Could it be that Teacher Michaela already knew about the Dean’s plan? Qiao Sang saw Teacher Michaela eating with his head down, not looking at him, and his heart sank. He took his phone and went to the room to continue the call.
Michaela stopped eating.
“Xia Xia.”
Xia Bao seemed to understand something as well, floating to Michaela’s side, looking like he didn’t know how to comfort him.
Michaela, unusually, didn’t look at Xia Bao, but sat silently.
Suddenly, Qiao Sang’s voice came from the room: “I don’t want to change mentors.”
Michaela: “!!!”
Michaela’s eyes suddenly lit up, as if he had come back to life, turning his head to look in the direction of the room, his face full of shock and astonishment.
“Puff.”
Penjami’s eyes also turned towards the room, her gaze filled with relief and emotion.
“Teacher Michaela is wonderful. If it weren’t for her, Lu Bao wouldn’t have evolved so quickly, and I wouldn’t have received Lu Bao’s support, allowing my brain to successfully break through,” Qiao Sang said in a low voice from inside the room.
Although the voice was lowered considerably, it was still clearly heard by the S-rank professional beast tamers and Penjami, and even Ting Bao could clearly hear its own beast tamer’s voice.
“Ting Ting.”
Ting Bao’s excitement vanished, replaced by a helpless expression, and it sighed.
It knew its beast tamer wouldn’t agree
to the room so easily.
Qiao Sang continued on the phone.
“Don’t rush to refuse,” Theresa said on the other end of the phone. “I know you and Michaela have a good relationship, but your talent is more than enough to match our school’s best mentors. I’m not saying Michaela isn’t excellent, but with your talent, I believe many mentors with higher achievements than Michaela, even those who have retired, would be willing to return to teach you.”
“Really, I don’t need it. I don’t want to change mentors,” Josang refused again.
Theresa was silent for two seconds, then said, “Do you know Dean Rakesh Gad?”
Dean Rakesh Gad? Josang was taken aback, then honestly replied, “No.”
Theresa introduced him, “He’s the former dean of our Beast Taming Academy, serving as our dean for 559 years. He personally taught 11 students to participate in the Interstellar Cup. Many of our school’s mentors are also his students. I think he’s more suitable to be your mentor.”
Former dean? Having served as the Dean of the Beast Taming Academy for 559 years… Jo Sang was flattered and overwhelmed. She quickly remembered Teacher Michaela, regained her composure, and asked,
“The former Dean must have retired a long time ago. Would he still be willing to teach students?” So,
it really was the former Dean who would teach? In the living room, the light in Michaela’s eyes dimmed.
She didn’t think anyone could refuse the former Dean’s instruction.
Inside the room, on the other end of the phone, Theresa laughed, “If it were someone else, he definitely wouldn’t agree, but if it were you, believe me, he would be very willing.”
If she weren’t the current Dean, dealing with various matters every day, she would want to fly to Tianyuan Star, replace Michaela, and teach Jo Sang.
Jo Sang fell silent.
To be honest, knowing that the former Dean would also teach her, it would be a lie to say she wasn’t tempted. After all, he was the former Dean of the Beast Taming Academy. Leaving aside the issue of strength, the resources would definitely be more abundant, and perhaps points wouldn’t be a problem in the future.
However,
as the faces of Teacher Michaela and Penjami flashed through Josan’s mind, along with various scenes from their past interactions, she said firmly,
“I’m sorry, Headmaster, but I still hope that Teacher Michaela will teach me.” (End of Chapter)
