1298. Chapter 1293 The Terrible Power of the Curse (Two in One)

Qiao Sang picked up the number and saw it was an unfamiliar one.

Immediately, she remembered leaving contact information for her ghost pets. With a swift thought, she quickly answered, saying “Hello.”

However, the imagined report of finding the Hidden Ghost Grass didn’t happen.

A strange female voice boomed over the speaker:

“What’s wrong with you? You can’t even take care of your own ghost pet. It’s slicing all the flowers off my flower clippers. Come here quickly.”

Qiao Sang was bewildered. “You must have the wrong number. My ghost pet was right next to me.”

“How could that be?” the unfamiliar female voice said in a disgruntled tone. “The Flower-Viewing Ghost is your pet, right? It even has your phone number on it.”

The Flower-Viewing Ghost, an intermediate-level ghost pet, loves flowers and plants, picking them when it finds one. It has a friendly personality and, compared to other ghost pets, has no unhealthy habits… Qiao Sang’s mind flashed through the Flower-Viewing Ghost’s information.

She remembered that there was indeed a flower-viewing ghost among the team searching for the hidden grass…

“It’s not my pet. I just entrusted it with a mission. I left my number in case it couldn’t contact me,” Qiao Sang explained. “You should have seen its ID bracelet. It’s a wild pet.”

“I don’t care,” the woman on the other end said. “You’re the contact for the flower-viewing ghost. You’re responsible for this matter, or I’ll send it to the pet rehabilitation center.”

Pet rehabilitation centers are places where wild pets are educated. Generally, wild pets that make mistakes are detained for a period of time, trained, and then released.

Send it there, then send it there… Qiao Sang was about to speak when the woman on the other end turned on the speaker.

“Shangshang…” The flower-viewing ghost’s sobbing voice came from the speaker.

It didn’t want to go to the pet rehabilitation center…

Qiao Sang was silent for a moment, then said, “Where are you? I’ll be there now.”

“I’m on Youling Street,” the woman said.

Qiao Sang hung up the phone, sighed, and turned on the navigation.

Just then, her phone vibrated again.

It was still an unfamiliar number.

Qiao Sang’s heart stirred again, and with hope in his heart, he answered the phone:

“Hello?”

“You’re the beastmaster of the Murmuring Spirit, right?” An angry male voice boomed from the phone: “Why didn’t you seal its mouth when you let it out? Now I’ve lost my job, what do you say?”

Qiao Sang paused for a moment, then instinctively said, “I remember the Murmuring Spirit’s mouth was sealed.”

“What did you seal it with? It’s not saying anything! It just said everything I was thinking about my boss!” The man’s voice grew increasingly angry.

“Your boss probably wouldn’t understand,” Qiao Sang said.

“He has a pet! His pet translated!” the man roared.

Qiao Sang was silent for a moment, then explained, “I’m not actually its beastmaster…”

The man interrupted, “You’re not now, and you won’t be in the future. You don’t want to take responsibility, do you?”

In the Jia Kingdom, some beastmasters would raise young beasts when there were no blank contract pages, hoping to achieve a breakthrough in their brains so they could directly contract a pet when the contract page appeared.

During the training period, to prevent young beasts from getting lost, they were typically fitted with bracelets containing location information and contact information. Some impoverished beastmasters would even write their contact information directly on their pets.

“I really wasn’t…” Qiao Sang was about to explain.

The man interrupted, “If you don’t want it anymore, I’ll let it work for me. I’ll let it go when I find a job again.” As soon as

these words left her mouth, Qiao Sang heard Nan Nan Ling’s wailing voice on the other end of the line:

“Nan Nan! Nan Nan!”

I don’t want to work! I don’t want to work!

Ghost-type pets were supposed to be very popular in Jia Country… Qiao Sang sighed deeply and asked,

“Where are you now?”

Ten seconds later, Qiao Sang hung up.

Then, her phone vibrated again.

Qiao Sang saw another unfamiliar number.

She stared at the number on her phone, hesitant to react.

“Gang Quan?”

Gang Bao called out. “

Don’t answer?”

Qiao Sang took a deep breath and answered.

“Are you the beastmaster of the Dark Destruction Imp? It shut down our building’s main switch, leaving us without power.”

“…”

“Are you listening? I hope you’ll come over now.” “

…” “

…”

“Are you the beastmaster of the Catalyzing Night Spirit? It pulled out the Dark Flower we carefully cultivated at our plantation.”

“I’m not its beastmaster.”

“But it has your contact number on it. If you don’t come, we’ll have to keep it and make it work as compensation. At the value of the Dark Flower, it’ll need at least two years of work.”

“Catalyzing! Catalyzing!”

“…”

Qiao Sang received several calls in the space of a few minutes.

She hung up the number she had just dialed, slowly exhaled, and tried to calm herself.

“Gang Quan,”

Gang Bao called out, suggesting that they shouldn’t leave phone numbers on them anymore.

Qiao Sang was silent for a moment, then asked, “Did Little Xunbao just curse me?”

“Gang Quan…”

Gang Bao shook his head, a thoughtful expression on his face, and called out.

There shouldn’t be…

It was very sure that Xiao Xunbao had not cast a curse, but the unlucky look of its own beastmaster now did seem like it was cursed, so it became a little uncertain.

Then why did she feel so unlucky since Xiao Xunbao left… Qiao Sang pondered for a moment, and suddenly took out the beastmaster badge from his backpack and put it on himself.

“Gang Quan?”

Seeing this, Gang Bao called out, asking if it would be more convenient to wear this?

“Of course.” Qiao Sang said as he opened the navigation and entered the four words “Youling Street”.

The badge of a B-level beastmaster is a deterrent no matter where it is displayed.

Gang Bao listened to the words in his own beastmaster’s heart, and he didn’t know what he thought of, and his body slowly grew bigger.

Qiao Sang watched the growing Steel Treasure but didn’t try to stop it. Instead, he waited until it had fully grown, then rode the wind and reached its body.

“Steel Power!”

Steel Treasure spread its wings and soared high into the sky.

Its sheer size and overwhelming presence caused passing flying pets to steer clear.

…

Meanwhile,

in the woods, little Xunbao, emanating a black aura, drifted through the grass.

Yabao accompanied it.

Suddenly, it sensed something, a puzzled expression on its face, and called out,

“Ya Ya?”

When did you curse me?

“Xunxun!”

Little Xunbao was stunned for a moment, then quickly called out.

It didn’t curse!

“Ya Ya…”

Yabao gave a look of “Really?

” “Xunxun!”

Little Xunbao nodded repeatedly.

Of course!

Yabao, with a pensive expression, began to circulate energy, purifying the curse within himself.

If little Xunbao didn’t have a curse, then where did the curse within him come from?

As he pondered this, he clearly saw a wisp of black aura emanating from little Xunbao slowly drifting into his body.

“Ya Ya!”

Ya Bao called out quickly.

“Xun Xun…”

Little Xun Bao looked down, watching a wisp of black energy drifting towards his older brother Ya Bao. Startled, he quickly waved his paws and called out,

“Xun Xun!”

This was none of his business!

“Ya Ya.”

Ya Bao nodded, indicating he understood. Then, remembering something, he called out again,

“Ya Ya.”

Curse me now! I don’t think you can control yourself.

“Xunxun…”

Little Xunbao cried out, his face sheepish. Then, his eyes glowing purple, he looked at Yabao.

The next second, a visible layer of black light appeared on Yabao’s surface.

But it quickly vanished.

Yabao instantly felt a dark energy permeating his body.

Just as he was channeling energy, a predominantly black insect-type pet with white spots suddenly fell from the tree and landed on his head.

“Ya Ya.”

Yabao grabbed the insect-type pet from his head and tossed it aside with an impatient expression.

Immediately, the leaves above rustled.

Yabao looked up.

From the lush branches and leaves, black insect-type pets suddenly fell, one after another, like a rain.

In a few seconds, Yabao was completely overwhelmed by the black insect-type pets.

“Xunxun…”

Little Xunbao saw this and silently took two steps back.

This shouldn’t be his business…

…

six o’clock in the evening.

Qiao Sang returned to the hotel exhausted.

While her status as a B-rank Beast Tamer was quite useful, she couldn’t handle the constant trouble one Ghost-type pet caused, and then another.

With Xiao Xunbao away, it was difficult to teleport, and nearly half of the day had been wasted trying to retrieve the Ghost-type pets.

A dozen Ghost-type pets stood in a row, their faces abashed, and they all cried out.

“It’s okay,” Qiao Sang said as she went to the refrigerator, opened it, and pulled out some juice. “The best reward is just helping me find the Hidden Ghost Grass.”

The Ghost-type pets nodded in agreement, their faces brimming with enthusiasm.

“We’ll continue our search after dinner,” Qiao Sang instructed earnestly. “But before you go out, make sure you remember the hotel room’s location and my phone number.”

After retrieving the Ghost-type pets several times, she figured out the problem and cleaned off the numbers on all the Ghost-type pets.

Ghost-type pets are popular in Jia Country, but generally, when a ghost-type pet causes trouble, the owner will be held responsible. However, when a wild ghost pet causes trouble, people know there’s no one responsible, so they basically just blame themselves for their bad luck.

Only when a ghost pet causes particularly serious trouble will it be taken to the pet rehabilitation center.

The ghost-type pets nodded obediently, indicating they understood.

The information was true; these ghost-type pets were indeed good-natured… Qiao Sang sipped her drink, feeling a little relieved.

Although she had wasted some time today, she had gained some experience with ghost-type pets searching for items. These ghost-type cubs all had families, and after building good relationships, she could have them contact their families to help with the search.

Furthermore, she had posted the mission, and several beastmasters and ghost-type pets had accepted it, so it wasn’t completely fruitless…

Just as she was thinking positively, Qingbao appeared, looked around, and called out,

“Qingqing?”

Has little Xunbao not returned yet?

“No,” Qiao Sang said. “It’s still out there looking, but it’s time for dinner, so it’s time to come back.”

He then formed hand seals.

Suddenly, two mysterious, deep purple star arrays illuminated the room.

Soon, Yabao and Xiaoxunbao appeared within them.

Yabao’s once gorgeous, smooth fur had become matted, even with leaves on it, as if it had fallen into a pit.

Seeing this, Qiao Sang was startled and asked,

“What’s going on?”

“Xunxun…”

Xiaoxunbao silently floated back two steps.

“Ya Ya,”

Yabao called out, indicating that it was nothing, just some bad luck.

Qiao Sang instantly understood and asked,

“Don’t you have the Holy Fire?”

Qingbao, who was about to float to Xiaoxunbao’s side, also realized something, stopped, and took two steps back.

“Ya Ya…”

Yabao sighed and called out, indicating that he hadn’t had time to purify himself, and had encountered so much misfortune.

“Xunxun…”

Xiaoxunbao looked guilty.

“Ya Ya,”

Ya Bao called out, saying it was okay. He generally only encountered bad luck when he was first cursed, and it would be fine after the cleansing.

“Ya Ya,”

he called out again, a thought dawning on him.

Even when Xun Bao wasn’t cursing him, the curse within him would still flow into him.

Qiao Sang paused, then quickly recalled the bad luck he’d experienced since Xun Bao left. A bad feeling welled up in his heart, and he said,

“Take a look and see if I have a curse within me now.”

Ya Bao’s eyes glowed blue as he looked over.

Soon, he opened his mouth and spewed golden flames.

Ah, so I’m cursed for my bad luck… Qiao Sang had a feeling it was just as he expected.

Soon, the flames died down. Ya Bao, with a look of dissatisfaction, looked at Xun Bao and called out,

“Ya Ya!”

“Xun Xun!”

Xun Bao quickly waved his paws and called out.

He knew nothing!

“Xun Bao must have an excessive amount of curse within him, unconsciously affecting those around him,” Qiao Sang helpfully explained.

“Xunxun!”

Little Xunbao nodded repeatedly.

That had to be it!

“Gangquan.”

Just as Yabao was about to say something, Gangbao called out, offering to help him take a look.

Yabao looked over, his eyes gleaming blue.

After a moment, the blue light faded, and he called out,

“Ya Ya.”

No curse power was detected.

When Gangbao brought Little Xunbao over, a distinct black aura emanated from him. He was affected, yet Gangbao was completely unharmed… Could it be that Gangbao’s defenses were strong enough to withstand curses? Qiao Sang couldn’t help but glance at Gangbao. A

thought flashed through his mind, and the black aura that had vanished from Little Xunbao reappeared.

Qiao Sang’s thoughts froze, and he and Yabao retreated quickly, stopping only at the wall.

“Xunxun…”

Little Xunbao gave a distressed expression.

Was it really that terrifying…

“Gis.”

The Gis egg, seemingly unsure of what the black aura signified, rolled around next to Little Xunbao.

Just then, Mikala and Peng Jiamei appeared out of nowhere.

“I’ve found a pet that can increase my luck,” Mikala said.

Qiao Sang didn’t speak immediately, but instead looked in the direction of the Dragon King.

Mikala followed his gaze.

“Momo?”

The Dragon King seemed to realize something, shaking his hips twice before reaching down and pulling out the Gis egg.

“Gis.”

Gis’s eyes were swirling, and he looked like he was fainting. (End of this chapter)
