1292. Chapter 1287 Mission Assessment (Two-in-One)

Qiao Sang pulled out his phone and answered.

An old man’s weathered voice rang through the speaker: “Hello, this is Red, your examiner for this A-level Professional Beast Tamer exam.”

Examiner? Contacting me so soon? Qiao Sang was startled, then straightened his posture and said, “Hello, examiner.”

Mikaela, sitting on a recliner not far away, heard this and turned to look over, lost in thought.

Are the Professional Beast Tamer exams on Yantian Star so efficient? You see, back on Tianyuan Star, the examiner who had agreed to assess me within three working days actually only contacted me on the afternoon of the third day.

“It shows here that you registered at the Beast Taming Center on Feiniao Island. Are you still on Feiniao Island?” the old man asked.

“I’m here,” Qiao Sang replied.

“Then come to the Beast Taming Center in the capital of Xinyue Province. I’ll meet you there.”

Xinyue Province wasn’t far from Feiniao Island, only about a two-hour flight away.

“Okay,” Qiao Sang said.

The call ended.

“Teacher, the examiner just contacted me!” Qiao Sang shouted over his shoulder.

Mikaela, wearing black sunglasses and sipping a drink, asked, “What did he say?”

“He told me to meet him at the Beast Taming Center in the capital of Xinyue Province,” Qiao Sang said.

“So close?” Mikaela was a little surprised.

When she was taking the A-level Professional Beast Tamer exam, her mission spanned half of Tianyuan Star.

Qiao Sang sighed, “Not only is it close, it’s also fast. I thought I could train for three days, but I didn’t expect the examiner to call me so soon.”

With that, she gave Teacher Mikaela a rather resentful look.

If the teacher hadn’t urged her, she wouldn’t have applied so quickly to take the A-level Professional Beast Tamer exam.

Mikala looked slightly embarrassed. “The A-level Professional Beast Tamer assessment on Yantianxing might be more efficient, but don’t worry. You’ll have time to train during the assessment period.”

Qiao Sang hummed, then smiled and explained her plan: “Even if I complete the assessment in a month, I’ll still wait a few more months before submitting.”

Mikala smiled, “With your abilities, Qingyun Nana and Yehuanwang will surely have become more coordinated in a few months. I remember you said the Fairy Jade would be delivered tomorrow.”

This meant that Qingyun Nana’s evolution wasn’t far off.

The thought of the SS-level Fairy Jade made Qiao Sang smile and nodded, “Yes.”

After chatting with Teacher Mikala for a few minutes, her phone vibrated again.

Qiao Sang picked it up and saw it was the same number from the examiner who had called earlier.

She paused for a moment before answering.

“Have you arrived?” the old man asked over the speaker.

Qiao Sang: “???”

Bewildered, she picked up her phone and opened the call log. After confirming the previous call was indeed from three minutes ago, her lips twitched slightly. She put the phone back to her ear and patiently said,

“Examiner, you called me three minutes ago.”

There was a pause on the other end, then the voice continued, “I thought you had a psychic-type pet that could teleport, and could directly locate and move it to me.”

Psychic-type pets have always been popular among Beastmasters. Generally speaking, except for those with a particular trait, professional Beastmasters who have reached B-rank, possess both high talent and ample funds, will almost always contract a psychic-type pet.

I was so scared! I almost thought the examiner was investigating me… Qiao Sang breathed a sigh of relief. “I only have a pet with a psychic-type secondary attribute.”

She hadn’t forgotten the upcoming battle assessment and didn’t want to reveal too much.

“I might not be able to go until tomorrow,” Qiao Sang continued. “I have some things to do on Bird Island.”

Xin Yuesheng was outside Bird Island. If she wanted to legally reenter after leaving, she would have to find a flying pet on the island to take her in again, which would be quite troublesome. She wanted to wait until the Fairy Spirit Jade arrived before accepting the assessment.

The examiner was silent for a long time. “Send me your current location. Send it to my account on the Beast Taming Center’s official website.”

Could this examiner be coming specifically to find me? Qiao Sang was stunned. She responded, “Okay,”

and hung up.

She opened the Beast Taming Center’s official website, clicked on the message sent from the backend, and quickly found the examiner’s account.

As Qiao Sang transmitted his location,

he couldn’t help but say to Teacher Mikala, “The examiner asked me to send it to him. He’s not planning to come find me, is he?”

Mikala sipped his drink and smiled, “It’s not natural for an examiner to look for a student. He probably wants to confirm the distance from you to him. It seems your examiner is impatient.”

As soon as he finished speaking, an old man with silver hair, wearing a white short-sleeved shirt and gray shorts, and a pink cat-like pet with a yellow gemstone on its forehead appeared out of thin air in the open-air training ground.

Coincidentally, one of Yabao’s clones spewed a silver-white beam of light towards the location where they had appeared.

Qiao Sang: “!!!”

“Yabao!” Qiao Sang shouted.

“Yabao!”

Yabao exerted force on all fours.

However, before it could move, the old man and the pink cat-like pet with the yellow gemstone on its forehead simultaneously glanced in the direction of the silver-white beam.

The next second, the entire space shook violently, and the silver-white beam collided with an invisible barrier, splashing a dazzling white light.

After a while, the white light went out, and the barrier was intact and disappeared.

Yabao was stunned for a moment, and then showed a fighting expression to the cat-like pet with a yellow gem on its forehead.

The old man and the cat-like pet walked over.

Michaela looked over and frowned slightly.

This person can’t be… Qiao Sang looked at the man and the beast coming towards him, and a bad premonition arose in his heart.

Then, the premonition came true.

“Is it Qiao Sang?” asked the old man in a white short-sleeved shirt.

Qiao Sang: “…”

This voice, there is no doubt, it is the examiner! Qiao Sang said in surprise: “Examiner?”

“It’s me.” Red nodded.

It’s actually the examiner? Michaela was stunned.

It shouldn’t be like this. How can an examiner take the initiative to come to the candidate?

Aren’t candidates allowed in based on the examiner’s availability?

Are candidates for the A-level Beastmaster exam on Yantian Star treated so well?

Or has it been ages since a Beastmaster applied for the exam on Yantian Star? So, is this the reason for such treatment?

Mikaela’s mind raced with all sorts of thoughts.

“Why are you here?” Qiao Sang feigned shock.

“I have something to do soon, so I wanted to confirm the mission assessment details with you,” Reid said calmly.

As he spoke, he calmly examined the young Beastmaster before him.

To be precise, it was indeed a young girl.

An 18-year-old prospective A-level Beastmaster… Honestly, even now, Reid was a little skeptical.

But then he thought about the fact that the Beastmaster was backed by a behemoth like the Beastmaster Alliance, and he felt that if the Beastmaster Alliance could indeed cultivate such a prodigy.

If he were still a few hundred years old, he would have screamed and cried out in disbelief at such a person. However, he was now nearly a thousand years old, an age where he had long since grown indifferent to everything. Even though he still felt a little unbelievable, he managed to maintain a calm demeanor. “

So that’s how it is… But if you have something to say, why don’t you contact me on the third day?” Qiao Sang internally grumbled, then assumed a serious attitude and asked,

“What’s my mission?”

Red didn’t answer immediately, instead checking his phone.

The next moment, a square pet figure, shimmering with silver light, descended from nowhere. Its eyes glowed blue, but it said nothing.

Red explained,

“The assessment of an A-level Professional Beast Tamer requires comprehensive monitoring, including the issuance of missions. This is the monitor’s phantom. It has no consciousness, and its main task is to monitor the issuance process.”

It appeared to be a mechanical pet… Qiao Sang glanced at the silver, square pet figure and nodded,

“I understand.”

Red then answered his previous question.

“Your mission is to find a plant of Hidden Ghost Grass.”

Qiao Sang paused. “Hidden Ghost Grass?”

“Yes, Hidden Ghost Grass,” Reid said. “The documentation says you have a king-level ghost-type pet. A ghost-type pet of that rank should have nurtured your clairvoyance.”

What does this have to do with clairvoyance? Qiao Sang was confused.

Reid continued, “You can search within the borders of Jia Country. There’s word there’s Hidden Ghost Grass there.”

Qiao Sang was stunned again, wondering if the examiner had even given him a warning.

“The time limit for this mission is one month,” Reid continued.

Mikaela glanced over.

“How much?!” Qiao Sang’s voice suddenly rose.

“One month,” Reid said. “I’ve given you a time limit. Within a month, you have a chance of finding Hidden Ghost Grass.”

He then picked up his phone, checked the time, and said, “Mission assessment begins now.”

“Check.” The silver-glowing, square-shaped pet called out and vanished.

Huh? Huh?! Qiao Sang was stunned for a moment, then quickly asked, “Can I get a longer mission?”

“Once a mission is issued, it can’t be changed,” Red said calmly. “If you complete the mission within a month, contact me.”

With that, he disappeared with his pink cat pet.

Qiao Sang: “!!!!”

Qiao Sang looked at Teacher Mikala, his eyes asking, “What should I do?”

Mikala silently turned back, pretending not to see the look.

“Teacher, the examiner said we only have a month!” Qiao Sang couldn’t help but say, “Didn’t you say that mission assessments usually have a one-year deadline?”

I heard… Mikala said calmly, “Most missions have a one-year deadline, only a few are shorter.”

What he meant was that you were unlucky.

“What should we do then?” Qiao Sang asked anxiously. “Even if I complete the mission, with a month to go, Little Xunbao and Qingbao definitely won’t be able to work together well during the doubles assessment.”

“Why rush?” Mikala said, sipping her drink. “You can still use the Ice Emperor Ram and Night Ring King combination.”

“And even if the mission assessment is completed, the battle assessment won’t start immediately; it’ll take a while.”

Hearing this, Qiao Sang gradually relaxed.

Indeed, she could still send Lubao into the battle. Although she had agreed to Qingbao, if it didn’t work well in the doubles match, she would definitely prioritize the assessment and send the stronger Lubao.

Suddenly, Qiao Sang thought, “What is Hidden Ghost Grass? How is it related to clairvoyance?”

Mikala put down her drink and said in a deep voice,

“It’s a plant that can only be seen by ghost-type pets and beastmasters with clairvoyance. It’s extremely rare and considered an endangered species, so it’s of great research value.”

“To think there’s such a plant!” Qiao Sang felt enlightened.

Mikaela continued, “Jia Country is the fourth largest country in terms of area on Yantian Star. We’ll set off directly tomorrow when the demon spirit jade arrives.”

Qiao Sang nodded,

“Understood!”

…

11:30 PM.

Qiao Sang lay in bed, set the alarm, his eyelids growing heavier as he fell into a deep sleep.

Little Xunbao was on the sofa, happily playing with his phone.

“Bang, bang.”

Suddenly, there were two knocks on the window.

Little Xunbao looked in the direction of the sound and saw the Rain-Prayer outside.

Startled, he quickly lowered his head, pretending not to notice.

“Bang, bang!”

The Rain-Prayer knocked on the window twice more, a look of displeasure on his face.

Gangbao opened his eyes, looked at the Rain-Prayer outside, then at Little Xunbao on the sofa, then closed them again.

“Xunxun…”

Little Xunbao finally stood up.

The Rain-Prayer’s expression softened.

Little Xunbao walked to the window and silently drew the curtains.

Rain-Prayer: “???”

“Pray for rain!”

Rain-Prayer flung the window open, a look of extreme displeasure on his face, and called out, “What do you mean?” I’m bringing you something, and you’re locking me out!

Little Xunbao was startled and tried to cover Rain-Prayer’s mouth.

But it was too late. Qiao Sang slowly awoke, and seeing Rain-Prayer, who had appeared in the room out of nowhere, instantly cleared her sleepiness and exclaimed with delight,

“Rain-Prayer, you’re here.”

“Xunxun…”

Little Xunbao’s expression suddenly shifted to despair.

It was over, its screen was blank…

Seeing the human’s surprise at its arrival, Rain-Prayer’s expression softened again, and she called out,

“Rain-Prayer.”

Of course it was coming; it hadn’t forgotten what it had said. With that, Rain-Prayer spread its wings, revealing a black crystal with ice cracks on its exterior.   ”Rain-Prayer,”

it cried out . ”   This thing was given to me by a ghost-type pet seeking its protection. Now it’s yours.”   With that, it thrust it into Little Xunbao’s paw.   ”Xunxun…”   Little Xunbao reluctantly took it.   ”What is this?” Qiao Sang asked.   Although she had been cramming her knowledge, it mostly focused on pets, their characteristics, and their skills; she didn’t know much about materials.   ”Pray for rain.”   Rain-Praying Phoenix showed an embarrassed expression, but it disappeared in an instant, and she called out.   It didn’t know, but since the other party could send it, it must be very powerful.   Qiao Sang: “…”   You didn’t even know it, but you sent it to me. Did you learn this from Yin Panling… Qiao Sang complained inwardly, but said seriously on the surface:   ”Thank you.”   To be honest, she had originally prepared for Rain-Praying Phoenix to forget about this matter, but she didn’t expect that the other party would actually send ghost-type resources to her.   ”Pray for rain.”   ”Pray for rain.”

The rain-praying phoenix smiled and barked twice, indicating that it was nothing, saying it had no use for the thing anyway. If you need anything in the future, just come to Feiniao Island to find me.

It was now very fond of the human in front of it. Because of her arrival, its relationship with Yin Panling had improved a lot.

“Okay,” Qiao Sang said with a smile, “I’m just worried that you’ll forget who I am by then.”

“Pray for rain.”

The rain-praying phoenix gave a look of “How could that be?” and barked, indicating that it had a very good memory.

With that, it flapped its wings and flew out the window.

Meanwhile, in another room, the Dragon King snorted coldly, resisted the urge to leave, and closed his eyes.
