Chapter 17 Weighing the Pros and Cons

Cons Staying would inevitably lead to a conflict with Doctor Mo, with his life hanging in the balance.

He didn’t want to fight head-on without being certain of victory.

Making a quick escape, especially a perfectly plausible feigned death, would not only allow him to unknowingly extricate himself from the vortex of possession, but also allow him to operate covertly and avoid implicating his family.

Doctor Mo possessed this much magnanimity.

Of course,

this was on the premise that his feigned death was perfectly justified, leaving no room for doubt, and wouldn’t provoke Mo Juren to take his anger out on the Han family.

“As long as the green hills remain, there’s no worry about firewood. What I lack is only time.”

The three of them desperately needed time to grow.

Furthermore, Mo Juren also didn’t have much time left.

Therefore, he was anxious

and had no choice but to make a decision.

[Zhang Tie] was almost 15 years old.

He had been practicing the Elephant Armor Technique for nearly four years, and had mastered the fourth level a little over a year ago. However, since mastering the fourth level and achieving the small goal set for him by Doctor Mo, he gradually relaxed his tense nerves and stopped being proactive.

Therefore, he has yet to master the fifth level of the technique.

Admittedly, the higher the level of the technique, the greater the difficulty of cultivation. Even the usually easygoing Zhang Tie found the pain somewhat unbearable. But the main reason for Zhang Tie’s stagnation was the lack of Doctor Mo’s supervision.

Zhang Tie was visibly less dedicated than before,

and recently appeared even more lax.

Besides practicing the Elephant Armor Technique, Zhang Tie also practiced the superior techniques that Li Feiyu had secretly copied from the Seven Absolutes Hall’s library: the “Tiger Subduing Fist” and the “Dragon Coiling Leg.”

However, Zhang Tie had not yet mastered either of these techniques.

They were sufficient to deal with his peers and even older senior brothers in the sect, but they were insufficient against masters who had immersed themselves in martial arts for many years.

[Li Feiyu], 15 years old: After practicing the Elephant Armor Technique for over two years, he has been relentlessly cultivating his potential using a weakened version of the Marrow Extraction Pill, coupled with his relentless drive to climb the ranks and rise above others. Therefore, compared to Zhang Tie, he has surpassed him, recently mastering the fifth level of the Elephant Armor Technique.

Of course, relying solely on the Elephant Armor Technique, Li Feiyu’s strength is inferior to that of the sect elders.

However, when combined with the superior martial arts personally taught by Elder Ma, Li Feiyu’s strength becomes formidable. Every move he makes is powerful and heavy; not only are his peers no match for him, but even the most vigorous young adults are no match for him.

He can even hold his own against the sect elders with his brute strength.

If Elder Ma hadn’t always cherished Senior Brother Li, constantly mentioning to the sect’s higher-ups that Li Feiyu’s physique wasn’t fully developed and that he had immense potential to be explored, unwilling to let him descend the mountain too early to experience the dangers of the martial world, Senior Brother Li would likely have already earned the nickname “Fierce Tiger.”

Then there’s Han Li, now 14 and a half years old:

He’s cultivated the immortal cultivation method “Eternal Spring Skill” to the peak of the third level

. His martial arts body-refining method “Elephant Armor Skill” is also at the peak of the third level. His

blinking sword technique is

at a minor mastery. His Luo Yan Step is also at a minor mastery.

Impressive, isn’t it?

Among his peers, he’s arguably the most outstanding.

Among young talents, he ranks among the top.

His senses are far sharper than Li Feiyu’s. His speed and unpredictable movements even amazed Li Feiyu.

However, compared to Elder Ma, Li Feiyu frankly stated that both have their strengths. Without a life-or-death battle, it’s difficult to know who is stronger. This answer made Han Li realize that he was far inferior to Mo Dafu, one of the three overlord-level martial arts masters of Lanzhou, and still too immature.

Mo Dafu was most likely a grandmaster on par with the three sect leaders of the Seven Mysteries Sect who were in seclusion.

In short ,

even the three of them together were no match for Mo Dafu.

They lacked the necessary experience and maturity.

“If Zhang Tie masters the fifth level of the Elephant Armor Technique and achieves some proficiency in other martial arts like the Demon Subduing Fist, I wouldn’t mind taking a gamble.” Unfortunately, Zhang Tie was still just a teenager, and his willpower wasn’t as firm. He had long lost the diligence and hard work Mo Dafu had shown when he was in the valley.

Furthermore, Zhang Tie might not be willing to turn against Mo Dafu!

This was the most crucial point!

After all, Mo Dafu hadn’t yet taken any actions that could harm them.

For Zhang Tie, Mo Dafu’s casual words might be more effective than his heartfelt advice. It’s true

that his bond with Zhang Tie was deep, but from a purely emotional perspective, it probably paled in comparison to the friendship and mutual benefit he shared with Li Feiyu.

He was willing to sell his life to Li Feiyu for a promise made years ago.

Of course, the condition for selling his life was that he would continue to concoct life-extending elixirs.

But what about Zhang Tie? He wasn’t Qu Hun after all.

Therefore,

he wasn’t going to stay and gamble on whether Zhang Tie would choose the deeply grateful Doctor Mo or him, his fellow disciple.

He couldn’t afford to gamble,

didn’t want to gamble, and

wouldn’t even attempt to gamble.

He was constantly

on the rise, while Doctor Mo was on the decline.

Therefore, why should he confront him head-on?

Avoiding the limelight was more advantageous.

…

Then another two months passed.

During this time,

Han Li saw no hope in the increasingly complacent Zhang Tie.

His own progress in the Everlasting Spring Technique had also been stuck at the peak of the third level for over a year, unable to advance to the fourth level.

The Elephant Armor Technique is also stuck at the juncture between the third and fourth levels.

“I should talk to Li Feiyu.”

His feigned death required cooperation.

That day,

as usual, he left Shenshou Valley alone to cultivate at Chishui Peak Waterfall.

Zhang Tie was practicing in the valley.

He hadn’t been to Chishui Peak for half a year.

Along the way, Han Li kept looking around, not missing a single blade of grass.

Because of his years of dedication, he had widened and leveled several paths from Shenshou Valley to Chishui Peak Waterfall day after day. They

were much easier to traverse than the other mountain paths.

As he approached the silvery waterfall

, he saw people already being washed by the water.

“Senior Brother Li, you’re here so early again?” Han Li greeted them.

Upon hearing this, Li Feiyu, who had a blade of grass dangling from his lips, slowly opened his previously closed eyes. With a few nimble movements of light-footed water-skimming techniques, he escaped the waterfall’s reach and arrived beside Han Li. He wiped the water from his face, spat out the grass, and said,

“Didn’t you say you needed to see me? Otherwise, I had another appointment today.”

An appointment?

“Are you planning to meet Elder Li’s niece?” Han Li chuckled.

“So, Han Li, you know how much I’ve sacrificed for you, right?” Li Feiyu said with a roguish air.

“Indeed, quite a sacrifice…”

Han Li’s smile widened.

In this era, ordinary girls were considered marriageable at thirteen or fourteen. The earlier they married, the easier life was for their families. By seventeen or eighteen, they were considered young women, and those still unmarried in their early twenties were considered old.

Senior Brother Li is now fifteen years old. He appears strong and robust, possesses superb martial arts skills, and has a handsome

and resolute appearance. Zhang Xiu’er is fourteen, only a few months younger than Han Li. Although she hasn’t fully blossomed yet, she’s already a beauty in the making. The girl’s young age doesn’t prevent early contact between boys and girls. Moreover , she has an elder uncle-in-law, making her a high-ranking figure even within the Seven Mysteries Sect.

Therefore, Li Feiyu and this girl would be a perfect match.

Interrupting this young couple’s date is his fault.

“Take this, consider it my compensation.”

He tossed out two porcelain bottles.

Li Feiyu caught them and opened them, his eyes immediately lighting up:

“Why so much this time?”

One of the bottles contained powder used to alleviate physical pain.

The other porcelain bottle contained a therapeutic drug he had formulated based on the properties of the Marrow Extraction Pill after his pharmacological skills had greatly improved over the years. This drug could treat the physical damage caused by the weakened version of the Marrow Extraction Pill to a certain extent, reducing the medicinal costs and side effects of taking it. In other words, it could help Li Feiyu live a few more years.

Therefore,

how could Li Feiyu not be happy?

“Senior Brother Li, I’ve come here to ask you to cooperate with me on something.”

“What is it? As long as it’s not asking me to give up my sleeves, I’ll agree to anything.” Li Feiyu leaned in, putting his arm around Han Li’s shoulder, looking smug.

“Don’t worry, I’m not interested in her, and a brother doesn’t steal what belongs to another.” Han Li shook his head.

He then turned serious and began to speak about the matter at hand:

“I want to leave Divine Hand Valley and leave the Seven Mysteries Sect to see the outside world, but I need an impeccable reason to avoid implicating my family. So, I plan to fake my death to escape. I’ve come to you hoping you can help me accomplish this.”

He didn’t mention that Doctor Mo wanted to possess him.

That kind of thing was too bizarre, too far removed from Li Feiyu’s reality.

And the more he knew, the more dangerous it would be for Senior Brother Li.

There was no need to harm this close friend.

“You want to fake your death to escape?”

“Yes.”

“You want to leave the Seven Mysteries Sect? ” “Yes

.”

“Just want to see the scenery outside?”

“Yes.”

“Bullshit!”

“Uh…”

“Uh what? You brat, what are you worried about? What are you afraid of?” Li Feiyu’s brows furrowed involuntarily, his tone slightly agitated.

Then, he curled his lip, picked his nose, and softened his tone:

“Back then, you deliberately befriended me, didn’t you? Later, you taught me the Elephant Armor Kung Fu, giving me astonishing strength and the means to rise above others. During that time, you also constantly urged that kid Zhang Tie to practice. To improve your strength, you even made me risk stealing the sect’s techniques. It’s fair to say that in the years since I met you, you haven’t slacked off for a single day, working harder than me or anyone else I’ve ever met. It’s no exaggeration to say that you’ve filled your time to the brim, yet it’s all very reasonable. Someone like you, doing all this, just to go outside the mountains to see the scenery—something so trivial?”

Did he really think he was stupid?

“You dare say you weren’t there to deal with some danger?”

Han Li was speechless for a moment.

Seeing this, Li Feiyu gave him a look of disdain that said, “You can talk nonsense, I’m listening.”

Seeing this, Han Li gritted his teeth: “Never mind all that, just tell me, can you help me?”

“Yes.” Li Feiyu nodded without hesitation: “Like I said, as long as it’s not about me giving away my sleeve, I’ll agree to whatever you ask.”

“So easy to talk to?” Han Li blinked.

“Consider it repayment for your good judgment, for not looking down on me when all the sect leaders and elders despised me, and for helping me when I was at my lowest and most helpless.” Li Feiyu said seriously.

“Thank you.”

“You’re welcome. By the way, does Zhang Tie know you want to leave?”
